12V 200a BMS for home built Lithium battery

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am looking for this BMS  or similiar from any store in SA who has it in stock.

I am using a "home built" 12V 200A (4 x 2 =8 Cells) as my aux battery in my Land Cruiser.  It has been in use for about 200 days per year for the last 2 years, but the BMS has failed. I am now running the battery only with a balance with no protection...

I think it can be anything between 100A and 300A, but must be 12V?  I never draw more than 100A at once...

Help if you can please...

Best Regards

My call would be this BMS

I don't know the seller but these are great units.

I agree with @Scorp007 on this one i have installed quite a few of the JK Bms's on battery repairs and they work great. They have Bluetooth setup and monitoring that makes them great. Here is a link they are on special. Very good price for the quality of this bms.

Thanks All! I see one  is 100A and the other 200A? I use it in a 4x4 vehicle for aux power. Most current draw is about 15A (Fridges, Starlink, etc) at the same time.  Charge rate is 45A.  For my application the 100A would be fine?

The battery is configured with 8 cells, but with 2x2 in Parallel and then that 4 (2) in Series. So I can then only check and monitor "4" cels with the BT app?

Regards

Your 2 in parallel is seen as 1 bigger cell. Impossible to manage 8 cells.

100A version is fine as long as you have control of it. You must ensure you do the maximum charge in the BMS settings.

Join this group; they are great!

There are about 18 000 Starlink systems in SA already

Thanks. I'm not on Facebook though, so I can't see the posts. Through a bit of googling it looks like there's a company in Mozambique that facilitates the import and subscription. I have been waiting for Starlink to become available here ever since I signed up on their website and paid my $100 deposit in March 2021...

A very valuable link at great prices. 😃😃😃

Did someone say 'Daly'?

A company that pushes f/w updates onto their BMS via their (horrible, flaky and intrusive) app without the users knowledge or consent, that bricks the BT comms module, then denies it?  That 'Daly'? 😱

JBD or JK, mos' def'. 🙂

(Am I still bitter? Do I sound bitter? OK, yes. I'm still bitter).

Daly is rubbish

I have been running a Daly for 2 years. Initially I thought there was an issue with the Daly BMS, turned out to be poor contact on my DIY battery busbars. I discovered this when I started logging the cell data into home assistant and graphed them over time. The BMS does it's job, the balance function is rubbish but that is true for most other BMS brands.

Without ground stations in SA yet the ping is not great. I'm also afraid of starlink stopping service over SA due to all the legal nonsense going on.

I'm patiently waiting for an official SA release.
