Mecer / Axpert firmware.

Featured Replies

Hi Guys,

I had to take one of my Axpert 5kva 4kw inverters in for repairs.  I received it back today and all things being equal,  It was reloaded with new firmware.  Now, my other inverters are at a different level firmware and the system does not like that.

the old version  is 7240 and the new version is 7260.

I started looking around to download the latest version, but at first glance, it is not so easy to track down.  Anyone with a link to share or point me in the right direction would be great.

In the mean time, I will keep looking.

  • So far, the differences between SCC firmware revision 4.10 verses 4.00 seem to be to do with higher current hardware. At the start of main, three bits in port G are checked. If 000, full scale current

Do all us Axpert folk a favour please... ask the supplier for the firmware files and provide a link?

@Coulomb Maybe you can find out from your supplier if they have this version.
I'm sure you would love to get under the hood and see what changed.

I will for sure share as soon as i get my hands on it.

TTT.  This unit put 230 V AC on the grid feed connector when the inverter is switched on.  As a result, the other inverters tripped with error 60 (current feedback).  They replaced the controller board and i tried to install it tonight.  However, with the mismatch in firmware, the plot thickens.... but that is a discussion for the general discussion page... Not here on the firmware page...

please do share the link if you manage to find it. Perhaps ask the supplier (Mustek?) for the firmware, explain to them that you need them all to be on the same version in order to stack the inverters.

I like to keep a small profile about that (if that's possible); asking only where I have a need.

That would be a yes :)

Good afternoon all,

After a morning of tinkering, I am happy to announce that I have managed to get my hands on the latest version of firmware for the Axpert 5KVA 4Kw inverters and successfully been able to update all my inverters.

The package include both sets of firmware for CPU1(72.60) and CPU2 (4.10)   I have recorded short video clips of the actual process and will upload and link it below a little later tonight.

Each package comes with some "Chinglish" instructions.  The most important bit of info in it is to make sure you are updating via COM1.   nothing else will work(I have tried ;) )

 Reflash --> CPU1 72.60

File size limits force me to add another message containing CPU2 files

@Coulomb now you can peek under the hood and see what is new..

Everyone please use this with great care and at your own risk.

Great stuff, thanks for this firmware. I could not find any files detailing the changes, does anyone know what changed in this firmware?

I think we are all waiting for Coulomb to decompile and compare them for us. :)

I think there was a report of a malfunction in Europe, nothing serious or critical. Apparently the unit would dim the back light and make a noise that can only be described as sniffling, it would also display the text "I wish i was a Victron" on the LCD. It would immediately return to normal operation as soon as someone approached it. The fault was originally discovered with a 300mm zoom lense and a shotgun mic after an owner believed his house was haunted.

true story.

This is fascinating.
Talking of LCD the story I heard about why the Victron inverters don't have one. It kept on showing "Overpriced" not enough reason to leave it out but it was found that the message was not hidden at all and removed as no firmware update could solve the problem.

But wait some more as to why they don't even beep. The first units kept on beeping in this sequence "--- ...- . .-. .--. .-. .. -.-. . -.." turns out to be morse code saying the same as the LCD. Might be the reason you never hear the inverter beep for errors as there is nothing to make sounds.

The LED lights must then be isolated somehow from the logic... as you say, Fascinating :D They do seem to have this sorted in a CCGX though.

In other news a hardware developer revealed the axpert was originally designed as a car audio amplifier, the product was re-purposed after engineers failed to get rid of a 60hz hum. apparently if you hold down all the buttons for 10 seconds it will play the test song "Gangnam style" through any heating element in your home.

You know, I always think you have to ask the people who's owned both. That's not me, so I'm not qualified. That other great debate we keep having, Linux vs Windows? Now that is me. Ask anyone who's used both if you want to decide which is better :-)

There's a reason people buy the "overpriced" Victron :-)

Think they figured most people would not figure out a sequence if the don't make them all the same colour or something to do with colourblind

Of course did you see the price of all the different cables and the CCGX to connect it all ;)

Not overpriced vs overpriced, same logic applies here does it not...some have seen the light and some not :P

But even then, it's fascinating how people can still differ, because they value different things. An ex-colleague of mine was a die-hard BMW driver. He would occasionally drive a Jap-mobile as a rental, and absolutely hated the experience. I on the other hand tried a BMW for a year, and went back to the Japo-box a year later, sick and tired of working for the car in the week and ON the car on the weekend. Both of us saw our experiences with "the other side" as confirmation that our preference really is the only sensible one.

I can see the appeal that the Axpert holds, I'm just not the kind of person it appeals to :-)

To that end, here's a video I really liked...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OpWPYPnZXQQ

That to me is the appeal of the Corolla: Sure, it has no usb plug for my ipod (and the Hyundai does)... but I don't care about that. Same with the Victron... sure it has no LCD... I don't care about that :-)

Cause BSD is the best? ;)
