@Achmatsorry to bother, but I've read/watch two methods for battery balancing.

1) Charge 100%SOC existing Battery Bank and charge separately new Battery(s) at 100%SOC, then connect together with BMS, cables, others.

2) A youtube procedure, which I assume to Discharge my existing Battery Bank to similar %SOC (Green Led Lights) of new Battery(s) and then connect them together as youtube video, before connecting to Inverter.

I'm an Off-Grid user with no AC-Input, so would like to confirm if can be done option 2), or is mandatory follow option 1) procedure (Very Good Sunny Day).

I did not find a Pylontech Official Procedure. Regards! and Thank You!

I did option 2. Two new batteries came about 50% charged on delivery.

Set DoD on my inverter (luckily I am on-grid) to discharge my existing two down to 50% over night. Inverter left batteries on around 49% though.

Connected the 4 batteries together the next morning. Took less than 15 minutes to balance. Then hooked them all up to the inverter.

You need a RS232 to USB converter, the converters nomally have a male conector, so the cables you need to do will need a Female DB9 conector (that's how the conector is called, RS232 is the protocol),

  • Correct. I only had the 3*US3000B at the time.  The fact that the pylontech bms had this much control over the inverter and it communicated correctly gives me reassurance that I've gone with the

Just wanted to say thanks for this - really appreciate it 🙂

Ever since I added my last Pylon US3000 to my pack, I have been having comms problems (e.g., cycles not reporting for the older ones). Turned out my older 3 were running v1.3 and the latest one v2.4. Upgraded all of them to v2.8 tonight without problems - and now all data is reported as should be

I would disconnect each battery and upgrade them individually.

Don't know the answer to that

I did the firmware upgrade when I was making changes to my system. I disconnected each battery and ran the update on each separately
