    Is your in and out both at the bottom? If so your spd is wrong. Panels>fuses+spd>breaker>inverter. Spd must be direct on you incoming cable

    This is what I do as well. Start heating at 11:30. Geyser is hot and switches off before 2pm. Water is still very hot in the evening.
  5. You can connect 1 flat with 1 sloping on 1 mppt if you connect them in parallel. Being in the UK you most likely won't hit the max amps of the mppt so you will have minimal clipping if any.
  6. My issue with using voltage settings 1. State of charge not accurate 2. Parallel battery communication 3. I prefer the bms to dictate to the inverter how it wants the battery to be charged. This helps with the passive balancing and absorption. Yes voltage settings can still work but there's benefits to having communication.

  10. Anything with decent amps will be a few grand. What size are your cells?
  11. I would ask myself 2 questions. 1. What time of the day do I use the most electricity. 2. How is your local weather? What time of the day are you most likely to have clear skies. I personally like to get power going back into the batteries ASAP. In your case I would personally go NE.
  12. Surge protectors are mainly for lightening. A lightning strike nearby will be way over 500V. 400 or 500V surge protector will be fine. Surge protectors won't clip the voltage. They will blow with a short circuit to earth. The green indicator on the front will go red.
  13. What are your panel specs?
  14. You can install 10kwp of panels if you like. The inverter will only use the max that it can. Ie 6.5kw and that's only if you are charging battery and using the max inverter load of 5kw or feeding back to the grid all at the same time. Just don't go over the max Voc on a string.
  15. There are a number of bms options. Just make sure you use a bms that has CAN communication with your inverter if possible. Also with those size cells get a 200A bms. @Energy-Jason hope you don't mind us talking about DIY batteries for now. We won't advertise until Apexium are setup here.

  18. Those are good directions. Basically East and North. I would focus on those 2 first.
  19. But even some 545W brands have lower voltage. Even the new hiku6 450W panels are 41Voc and 13Isc So just make sure what you get.
  20. Correct. You use Voc as the panels are only under load once the mppt starts. 545W much better idea. All these new panels now have lower voltage and higher amps.
  21. It's all down to the dimensions of your roof. 595W panels are large but if you can fit 4 then great. Just note that these panels are 17A so you would not be able to parallel them on the same mppt
  22. For what it's worth I just completed putting 6x 455W panels on a SE roof. That is 2700kwp Todays max was 950W in pure sun. You better off installing less panels but making sure the orientation and pitch is your best possible option.
  23. Try ticking activate in the battery settings. However even with just grid on the inverter should show AC.
  24. North facing is always your best direction. Looks like you need careful measurements of your space so you can get creative. See if you can get 6 panels facing north even if you mix portrait and landscape. Then also see if you can do 5 East and 5 west.
  25. The inverter will combine the 2 series strings. You can use 1 DB for the 2 strings but each string has its own breaker and own surge protector. Basically it's a 2 in 2 out DB. You will see it labeled on the inverter PB2-1 and PV2-2 If using only 4 panels per string make sure your panels are around 50 Voc each. The mppt needs 150V to start.
