Kevin Lourens reacted to zsde in Hubble AM2 ProblemYou would need PBMS tools to see the reason for the battery shut down.
It could be a Under Voltage protection of one of the cells that causes it.
Without being able to see these details it is hard to guess the reason

Kevin Lourens got a reaction from Carnajo in Operating a Gate Motor Remotely@Carnajo the one you mentioned works very well.I have installed mine in the gate electronics enclosure, just ran the 4 wires from my excisting remote receiver the the boar, positive, negative and NO or NC depending on your receiver. Paired to ewe link app.
I sometimes need to open my gate remotely, look at my security cameras and poen the gate all from the office, even open and close the garage and turn alarm on and off
Oh, just make sure you have WIFI at your gate/electronics box.

Hello Powerforum Members I am very pleased to announce the SOLIS S6 6KW ADVANCED HYBRID giveaway
Here is our Preliminary Product Review
SOLIS S6 FIRST IMPRESSIONS
The Solis S6 full hybrid inverter is a new product that promises to offer advanced features for today's solar market. There are three variants available: 5kW, 6kW and 8kW, which supports both single-phase and three-phase parallel connections of up to 6 units.
The inverters have an impressively high PV input of 160% rated inverter power, with dual MPPTs. The MPPTs have a wide voltage range of 90-520V and a maximum MPPT efficiency of 99.5% The inverters also offer a high pass-through PV power of 9.2kW for the 5kW and 6kW versions, and 11.5kW for the 8kW inverter while connected to the grid. This means that the inverter has the ability to use more PV power to charge battery and support grid load at the same time.
The inverters come with a smart auxiliary port which can be configured for a generator input, AC-coupled grid-tied inverter or smart load output, which is rated 1:1 to the inverter’s output capacity. The auxiliary port can be used to connect a backup generator or another grid-tied inverter to increase the system's reliability and flexibility. The smart load output can do load shedding control of non-essential loads such as water heaters or pool pumps, based on the available solar energy or battery state of charge during off grid status. The inverters are also shipped with a CT which can be easily installed and used to export excess energy to non-essential loads or to limit the grid export power according to local regulations.
The inverters claim to have a 10-second surge power backup overload capability of 200%, which will be tested during our full product review. This means that the inverter can handle twice its rated power for a short period of time, which can be useful for starting heavy loads such as air conditioners or pumps. Another feature is a 24-hour real-time intelligent energy management system which can be monitored and controlled with a free to use smart and user-friendly app interface that can be accessed via the included Bluetooth dongle or Wi-Fi datalogger. The app allows the user to view the system's performance, status, history and settings, as well as to set up timers, schedules and modes for different scenarios. The product is NRS 097 certified, which means it meets the standards for grid-tied inverters in South Africa.
Overall, the product sounds impressive and appealing for anyone looking for a hybrid inverter that can handle multiple sources of power and provide UPS-level switching of less than 4ms in case of grid failure. With an IP66 rating, multiple features, a user-friendly interface and a very low price point, the inverter is in the running to be one of the most popular hybrid inverters in the South African market.
The Solis S6 full hybrid inverter range has been approved and listed on the City of Cape Town’s Photovoltaic Inverter List as of July 2023 and visible on the update list dated: 10 August 2023, the list see here Approved Photovoltaic (PV) Inverter List.pdf
Something Noteworthy to add is that Solis Warranty Policy is a replacement policy so if you have an inverter with a factory warranty fault Solis will replace your inverter and not repair it they also guarantee a very short turn around time for testing to ascertain if the inverter is faulty due to Factory Warranty conditions or external factors.

Kevin Lourens reacted to Scorp007 in Maximum PV on Deye Inverter 5 kWWhat we tend to forget is when looking at the MPPT range that is Vmp and not Voc that we use to never exceed the MPPT volts on a very cold day. Minimum temp per area installed.

Kevin Lourens reacted to Kalahari Cruiser in Deye 5Kw solar panel QuestionsRead my post to a similar question you posed yesterday
In your scenario, those 8 panels seem like the perfect pairing, assuming they’ll be connected in one string in series, facing one direction. Again, just divide the inverter’s max volt input by the panel’s VoC spec (or multiply your 8 strings by the VoC of a panel), and you have what seems like a great pairing well within the inverter’s spec.
Regarding the amps, should you go slightly over (per spec), then the inverter clips the current. I don’t think the panel spec poses any issue for your inverter but perhaps others can confirm.

Kevin Lourens reacted to Kalahari Cruiser in Sunsynk Solar PanelsSS 5KW inverter specs:
Solar Input
Max power input – 6500W
Max V DC input – 370V (100V~500V)
Max current input – 13A + 13A
MPPTs – 2
MPPT Range – 125~425V
The 500V max input should not be exceeded under any circumstances, and considering safety margins, aim for max 450V for planning purposes.
Divide 450V by the VoC spec of your panels if connected in series = 8 panels per string should be good and safe (450/52.24). In fact 7 versus 6 panels per string already brings you closer to what I understand is the 370V sweet spot. 9 panels might even be possible but perhaps sailing a bit close to the wind then.

@Gary Waterworth Did a quick YouTube video on how to install your software and to get the data into HASS, no cards or anything so very basic.
Please let me know what you guys think of my first attempt. 🙂
Will probably get a license for the software so can get rid of the watermark with some time, will also work on the production side a bit to make it slicker but thought I had to start somewhere

Kevin Lourens reacted to uDuWaR in Home Assistant NewbieHi Kevin
The Actual automation config on Home Assistant is pretty easy, a few googles and some testing you'll be fine. What takes some time is configuring all the setting up all the integrations. I do know you need to install HACS on HA in order to get the Sonoff connected (no need to flash the sonoff's). As for Sunsync if you already have solar software like ICM or SolarAssistant this could be a little easier. I can help with ICM. If not you'll need to use some custom developed software for home assistant in order to pull in metrics.
