My setup is similar to the one the op has; My question is would a fuse below the SPD , that is, inline with the earth wire suffice. note: the earth wire is missing in the photo This would make it far easier to remedy the situation than having to replace the DB (At least the box) that I paid too much money for.

I have... Panels>Fuses>Breaker>Inverter ... installed. In order to protect against a SPD short would putting a single fuse directly inline with the earth wire suffice?

I have no knowledge of either product but it amuses me why a company would call itself a lemon. From the Urban Distionary: lemon . A consumer product that was purchased new or like new with apparent malfunctions.

Looking at the cable crimp on the bottom bar, I would say that the damage is not corrosion due to weather but heat damage due to a poor ( high resistance) crimp.

Flickering flames means you are attached to an AC source (50Hz flicker) as opposed to the steady flashing flames when you are attached to DC source. Sorry, couldn't resist 😉 🤣

Was given this rod a few years back, it was sitting in the back of a garage. I noticed it was rusting away so I filed the end and side to reveal what I suspected. I wonder how many people think they have a rod in the ground, when all they have is a pile of rust?

The only way I know of achieving this is by running your printers off of a UPS (or UPS's on each printer). Then you won't need tp pre-start the generator. The ATS delay will not change as the switchover time is triggered by the absence of or restoration of Eskom supply. But I'm not an electrician so what do I know.

I wish I could, it has taken me an age to determine the best position to build a structure due to ideal roofs (3 of) being shaded extensively by huge trees on the surrounding properties which will cost an arm and a leg to fell and neighbours are not co-operative, wanting to retain the trees for which I am actually in sympathy with as the trees are mainly indigenous and magnificent. I am having a structure erected for my 10 x 600W Canadian solar panels connecting to a Sunsynk 8Kw. Facing NNW approx. Panels specs VoC 41.3 , IsC 18.47 MPPT specs 125V - 425V Unfortunately at this time of the year the panels 1,2,3 in my diagram will be shaded for about 45 minutes at midday. Would it be better to put panels 1 to 4 on one string to MPPT 2 and 6 on MPPT 1 or just put all 10 on one string? Or maybe 5 on each MPPT? What would be the better solution?

I stand to correction, but isn't it better to use the NMOT values since the STC values are unlikely to be achieved in real life situations? Edit... Actually I guess for sizing the VoC STC rate should be the decider.

The whole principle of operation of the Deye/Sunsynk inverters relies on the correct placement of the EXTERNAL CT which definitely is supplied with the inverter. However, from personal experience, some installers/suppliers are quite happy to state that you can install the supplied CT within the casing on the incoming live cable. They are ignorant of the bi-directional capability of these systems.

If you go to the home page of the website you would have difficulty in finding that they have anything for sale! Not how I would try and sell stuff.LOL

In this thread 42 metres is running on Cat5e

I'm getting old, I should have said I did 4 wires per strand not 3.

In the UK there is a company that sells Sunsynk CT Coil extensions up to 50metres! (At one heck of a price). They are made from Cat5e cable which is relatively cheap. I assume that at the price they are asking, 50metres must work. https://www.dragonsbreathsolar.co.uk/product/sunsynk-ct-coil-extension/ Sunsynk themselves talk about a max of 20metres but that is using the same or similar cable (twisted pair) which is susceptible to emf interference especially if running close to the other cabling. I also read that one can use shielded microphone cable as an option to get long lengths.. Personally I extended mine from the 3metres on the original coil to about 11 metres using Cat5e cable and using 3 wires in the Cat5e cable to each strand of the CT Coil cable and do not see any issues.

So I am confused about E/L in series from the above comments. Would this be the correct wiring for an essential load diagram incorporating 2 outbuildings , where the 2nd building is fed by a cable from the 1st one? (I left out a double pole breaker in the line to the 2nd outbuilding because I am to lazy to edit the diagram 🙂 but it should be there.)
