Aircons?? hmmm.🙂 Do hardwired aircons need to be behind rcd's? Maybe a sparky can elaborate. Depending on how many sockets you have isn't it quicker to disconnect one or both aircons?

And what I find strange that it is only the single circuit that is tripping it. I'm no electrician but it sounds to me that that circuit or something that is plugged into it has an intermittent earth fault. I had a small bar fridge that was causing occasional tripping.

Perhaps moving this question to the General Discussion forum will catch more eyes and a response?

Are there any issues with leaving it on the pallet? Not that I'm aware of, I was just wondering if the installer didn't have long enough battery cable but more likely he didn't have the manpower to lift it off 🙂

Purchased a system from Solarway Suppliers 2 weeks ago and was able to collect the next day. They are legit but are very busy and the one sales guy told me at 8.30 Monday morning he had over 400 new emails in his inbox, also they had a problem with the phone system which appears now to be fixed. I would advise going in to see them like I did.

Yes I realise everything is made in China , but not all "clones" are equal, this site has a large number of people trying to get help, ask @Coulomb, for firmware updates etc. and unsuccesfully so for what they thought was a Voltronic product. That's what worries me. Personally I think the rebrander should upfront state that they are rebadged Deye products and are guaranteed to be supported by Deye in the event that said rebrander goes out of business. I can understand a company wanting to differentiate and gain market share by creating perceived value-add, such as Sunsynk does and they even charging more than the ODM, but I personally don't see the point in rebadging something and pricing it at the same price point as the original. At least the Fusion is a different colour. @Gavin286.......... Are those Magneto batteries !c or 0.5C ?

@Stev87........ GC Solar may be "reputable" but what is Growcol? A rebrand by GC Solar or someone else? They seem to "rebrand" Axpert clones and others etc. Where do these products originate? Are they imported and if so from where or are they sourced and rebranded in SA? Are they grey market? Etc., etc.. So many questions? And the "chinese" website raises a red flag as to being genuine. I could be wrong but in my experience the genuine chinese companies websites are professional and up to date. I can think of a few reasons why anyone would rebadge perfectly well known brands and sell them at more or less the same price as the originals, and none of those reasons are are good unless they claim , like SunSynk, to add value or alternatively to undercut on price. I have some experience with the early PC's and components we were getting from various sources in Taiwan. But that's just me and my paranoia 🙂

I am considering an 8Kw Sunsynk or Deye system and on looking around I have found 3 (so far) brands which on external looks appear identical to the Deye and SunSynk inverters. These are namely; 1. Magneto, apparently a South African company. Website has a contact number but no address. 2. Fusion, apparently a South African company. Website has zero contact details and is only marketing blurb.. 3. Growcol, Claimed totally identical to Deye/Sunsynk incl. firmware by reseller.However apparent website (growcol-tech.com) is out of date and sales blurb.. Contact details show a chinese address and phone but whois reveals site registered in S.A.!! Site is exclusively english not a chinese symbol in site (sight LOL). I am very suspicious that this is a website designed to deceive. Thus I won't be buying Growcol no matter how "reputable" the S.A. reseller is. Are any of these inverters actually any good in terms of being really hardware and firmware identical to the Deye/SunSynk inverters. Do they use the same wifi dongle and App? Etc..? Or are the axpert clones in fancy clothing? Or something similar. Will there be any real warranty on them? Both Magneto and Fusion also claim to have Lithium battery products (Magneto have supercaps which interest me). Are these products any good? I am asking these questions because before I commit 1 Rand to any company I need answers and my requests to some of the resellers who it seems can only be contacted by email (phones just ring) are lacking the detail I require. UPDATE: Received email from Magneto reseller who briefly states that Magneto is a rebrand, but omits to say of Deye or Sunsynk. Never mind, I am tempted to buy Magneto and the reseller I contacted is trusted by Powerforum so I guess all is good. Or am I naive and should rather purchase a Sunsynk or Deye, that's if I can find anyone with stock. And then try and determine if they are a scammer or not. LOL

I am not familiar with these particular lights so may be they work differently to the globes I use (not downlights). You said "The instructions state that if the power fails, switch the switch on & off to activate the light". It is my understanding the switch needs to be ON for the light to work. Try shorting across the contacts of one of an uninstalled downlight, if it lights up then my theory is correct.

Note that if going for something like zsde suggests, you will need a battery charger as well.

Seem to recall a co. by that name running out of premises in Randburg a few years back whose prices were to good to be true. Lack of physical address is a bit of a red flag to me but I am paranoid. I won't spend any major money with anyone that I can't walk in to the premises and see the equipment unless it is endorsed by someone I know even if only thru' this forum. Also quick replies to email could indicate co. not busy just waiting for your call. Looking at the photos on the facebook page I see he claims a email @citysolasa on his brochure and @citysolarsa on the about page. Sloppy! Not saying this is a scam but I would not waste my time. But that's just me.

Would it not be a good idea to have a dedicated forum for us to post the names of known and suspected scam/con artists which would be at the top of the list so that new members/searchers could be alerted to potential hazards when making buying decisions?

As far as I am aware multiple qwikswitch wireless switches can be programmed to operate a single receiver (light). All you need do is install a receiver in the existing switch housing and screw or glue the transmitters wherever you want them. But it's not a cheap solution but you don't chase walls. Perhaps someone knows of a cheaper make of similar wireless products. qwikswitch.co.za

@Tariq. What Kw is your pool pump rated at? I am thinking of using the Astute but am a bit worried about the in-rush current being too much for it to handle. My pump is 0.55Kw

I see that the current rating for inductive loads is 10 Amp, would that be running amps or in-rush? Anyone know because my 0.55Kw pump is apparently rated 6Amp, which I presume is running amps which means an in-rush of several multiples of that. I guess my question is to anyone running their pool pump with this controller.

I am not a plumber or an expert but have installed 4 gas geysers of various siizes where water pressure is an issue, built a "donkey" with a 44 gallon drum for an al fresco shower stall. As far as I am aware all the geysers I installed needed a minimum of 0.2 bar pressure to function. 1bar = 10metre head (? I think). Therefor your shower head looks like it is probably less than 2 metres below the tank and is thus marginal. If the tank is full you may have enough pressure but as it empties you lose too much causing the geyser to shutdown. Solutions? Raise the tank or install a "on demand" pressure pump, either 220v or 12v with solar. B.t.w. If your geyser is of "modern" design you don't balance the temperature with the cold tap, you set the desired temperature by balancing the rate of flow thru' the geyser and the flame/fire.
