  1. Am I correct in reading that it took them more than 3 months to "repair" your inverter that was bricked by a faulty firmware update??? That is unconscionable if I am correct. And to compound that, they then return it to the wrong customer (or perhaps the recipient of a free inverter, who knows!) You really need to escalate your experience to the highest levels in Sunsynk, not that it appears they take their after-sales support that seriously, and demand a satisfactory explanation and even compensation.
  2. So that page changed within2 minutes. I wonder who is watching our conversation? Could it be the OP? Not impuning anyone, just asking? Oh, I see that the address at the bottom of the page is still West building, so I'm incorrect in saying the site changed. But it is typical of scam sites to overlook the details. (wherein the devil exists)
  3. From their contact page: Address: 2nd Floor, West Building, Nelson Mandela Square, Sandton, Gauteng, 2096, South Africa. Whereabouts on the second floor? The broom cupboard?. Maybe moving in a week ago and setting up my webpage, I would also confuse a West Building with a West tower. But that's just me.
  4. I would be wary. Site not a week old. (see Whois.com) Prices ?? Would only consider a buy after a visiting offices to see for myself and I can't see if there is a West Building in Mandela Square (can't find it on G Maps). Buying solar in SA from sites offering good prices seems to be an expensive education for many. Good luck.
  5. It's called a plith. I buy here: https://www.gelmar.co.za/plinth-aluminium-100mm-x-3m.html
  6. Perhaps these? https://www.livecopper.co.za/products/cbi-round-socket-outlet https://www.livecopper.co.za/products/crabtree-plug-top-3-pin-6a?_pos=3&_ss=r
  7. YES. That's why I refereed to 1-1 and 1-2. I thought that would be clear that I was querying about ONE of the 2 MPPTs. As I said, previous searches were confusing on this query and as some of the above replies indicate why! Thanks @GreenFields once again for educating me.
  8. Thinking of increasing my solar production has raised the following questions re understanding (Sunsynk/Deye) 2 inputs per MPPT behaviour. Research on powerforum and other searches has only confused me so I wonder if anyone can definitively answer my queries. 1.) If I have 2 strings, 1 going to MPPT1-1 and the other to MPPT1-2 do they have to be equal? i.e. same number and type of panel or close enough specs. 2.) Do these 2 strings have to be in the, more or less, same direction and angle? Or can 1 string face, say, East and the other West? 3.) Do the standard parallel rules apply? For example, if the MPPT PV input current is rated at, say, 22A, does that limit each string to 11A? 4.)What, apart from not having to have a combiner box or paralleling using Y connectors for the 2 strings, is the advantage of having an MPPT with 2 inputs?
  9. I have to admit I didn't ever think of that! Doh! @GreenFields Thank you
  10. I never received any notification and regarding notifications I suddenly started getting notified when eskom came back on...nice ... then suddenly was notified of grid loss when in fact it was grid restored and then no notifications of grid loss or restore. From the User Manual v.24 (03/30/23) page 11 for Sunsynk-8K-SG01LP1/Sunsynk-8K-SG03LP1 the Max PV Isc is stated at 44A but I see PV Input Current is 26A
  11. Aha, my model is the 8K-SG01LP1 which I see has Max PV isc 44A + 44A What got me was this attached data sheet which states the 18A + 9A. Thanks @JayMardern for pointing me to look again. Looks like Sunsynk can't proof read their publications to adjust for different models but just cut and paste. Also today the app stopped working since about 3.20 am and came back about 12 hrs later!! Beginning to loose a bit of confidence in choosing Sunsynk above Deye. Was the extra cost worth it. Hmmm. Sunsynk-8.8kW-datasheet-print.pdf
  12. I am currently using MPPT1 on my system and considering adding panels to MPPT2. The spec sheet states Max Input Current (A) 18A + 9A. Does this mean that MPPT2 is rated 9A? Or what does that mean?
  13. Slimline plugtops. Another source, I bought mine here: https://www.livecopper.co.za/products/crabtree-slimline-plug-top-16a?
  14. Nice to know. I've moved my screwdrivers that look just like those from my main toolbox into my electrical spares box.
  15. Asking for a friend. Does anyone know if these are slow or fast blow?
  16. You are absolutely correct! Maybe I should have said "Anywhere before the point of entry to the MCB." or words to that effect.
  17. That needs to be sorted. The CT coil needs to be at the point of entry to your DB.
  18. Back in the day we had to install Constant Voltage Transformers, in certain computer installations, that were transformer based, large, heavy and expensive. A quick web search only came up with this. Give them a call, I'm sure someone will help you. https://www.phdpowerhouse.co.za
  19. Your metal tiles are most likely Harveytile. They market a bracket for mounting solar panels to their tiles, and since they have documentation describing fixing their product to existing thatch maybe contacting them or one of their approved installers will give you the right answer.
  20. Would this be compatible? https://henractech.co.za/shop/smart-switch-double-adaptor-sa-3pin16a/
  21. Today I am a VISITOR to my inverter and not a Manager. LOL Sunsynk have admitted it is a migration issue.
  22. This is for slate roof but will probably do what you need. https://www.solarwaysuppliers.co.za/product/slate-roof-bracket-2/ Complete kit!
  23. I would trust your cheap meter reading. See what it measures on your battery.Perhaps one of your connections to the inverter is loose or high resistance for some reason? Or your inverter has an internal issue?
