  1. 2x 6mm2 cables would allow you greater flexibility in the future. Believe me, the bug will get stuck and you will most likely upgrade your inverter in the near future.
  2. Correct, it connect to the Ewelink website. There is an Ewelink app that you download which enables you to set up the timer function and control the unit
  3. Which version of ICC are you using? I had this issue with one of the previous versions
  4. Yes, it would need a wifi connection
  5. You could try SolPi as an alternative. With regards to it not setting back to grid in the afternoon, have you checked your inverter settings? It might be that the back to grid voltage is set too high causing the inverter to overwrite the request from ICC
  6. I'm I reading this correctly 1.2MW??? 🤯 How many panels do you have? Check your inverter manual and settings. Inverter(s) most likely requires batteries in order to run in Off-Grid mode
  7. Hi, Before the rest of the forum jumps in, no it would not be advised to install the panels in 3s3p configuration. The solar charger starts detariating from 125v and would result in the solar charger stopping production. Rather install the panels in 4 or 5 strings of 2. This mean that you have to buy an additional panel or only go with 8 panels.
  8. Thanks for the feedback, I'm currently reading the daily PV production value from the Inverter's values but can change this to a calculated field based on the solar load figures. Will run a test to see how they would compare.
  9. Are you sure that you are using the correct pin out on the cable between the Pylontech and Inverter? My King ran perfectly fine (no errors) with the cable between the Inverter and battery with the mode set to PYL. Also what version of software are you running?
  10. So a minor update on the progress. The initial prototype was done using a Pi Zero to see if it would be feasible (lowest cost option). After running it for a week I have noticed that it has slowed down drastically and would not be feasible. Ordered a couple of Raspberry Pi 4s and will migrate the setup once they have arrived. Will run the system for another week on the Pi4 and if all goes well then I package a unit for beta testing . If there is anyone around the Centurion area with a SunSynk inverter that would be willing to run a test once the system is ready, please drop me a PM
  11. Fully agreed. Most modern geysers are pretty well insulated. I did a test by first wrapping my geysers in a 150mm insulation and then covered it with the geyser blanket foil. Ran it for 2 days and didn't notice any major differences in standing loses. I then covered the pipes using thermal lagging, this reduced the standing loses by 3-5 degrees over a 24 hour period. (Tests were concluded in the winter)

With regards to the unti staying on 88%, this is normal for the Pylontechs or atleast mine does the same. It would stay on 88%/ 89% for quite a while and then all of a sudden jump up to 97%.
  13. 1. Correct 2. Correct Additional items, check to ensure that you have an inline fuses close to panels as well
  14. Monitoring interface sorted. Now the real difficult part starts by setting up user interfaces to enable changing the configurations entities through a web page, this should allow it to operate then as a plug and play solution.
  15. Bump, price drop to R9,000. Would also throw in a brand new 8 way DB with change over switch and double pole CB
  16. Just a question, why do you want to add more panels? Currently your system idles from 13h00 onwards.
  17. You have to drop the settings yourself.
  18. It is basically a Sonoff TH16 switch with a relay and a DS18B20 temperature sensor. The Sonoff TH16 communicates to a Home Automation server, within the automation server one can set up rules and timers for when the relays are to be switched on.
  19. I would go with Option 3. I'm currently running 2 geysers of my inverter. The geysers are on smart thermostats to ensure that they only heat up during the day with a second cycle should it drop below a specified temperature.
  20. Is it not possible lower the Low DC cut-off voltage cut off setting on the Inverter and then let ICC control the mode via the SoC automation?

  22. It depends on the inverter you are using. If you have a 48V system then you would need to have 4 batteries in series which essentially equates to a 48V 200ah battery. If you then want to increase your capacity you would have to add another bank of 4x batteries. You can't mix and match.
  23. Do you have a relay that bonds the Neutral and Earth in Islanding mode?
