Riaandp reacted to FixAMess in Sunsynk Inverter QueryThe 8kW has 2 MPPT's with 4 input strings, you must "balance" the PV input across those strings.
See the explanation below, make sure you max Voc is calculated correctly.

Riaandp reacted to sammy in Pylontech installationHi Chris,
Apart from the earthing, please ensure that you have the Pylontech cable going into the CONSOLE port on the top battery, with all of your DIP switches to the bottom, and then (more importantly), take out the cable that says Inverter on the one side and Battery on the other side. If you are using Voltronics inverters (which I suppose you are because you are using ICC), then you cannot use that cable, and it will interrupt all your communication with the Pylontech cable and ICC.
Hope this helps you a little?

Riaandp reacted to Bernardf in Sunsynk 8kWYes I can't wait for that new dongle. No more walking to the inverter to change settings like a cave man, haha!
-
Riaandp reacted to Craigm in Sunsynk 8kWVery exciting this!! I'd be keen to give the BETA dongle a go! Does anyone know how to get hold of one? Any installers that I could arrange to get one from, when they arrive, please?

Riaandp reacted to Leshen in Sunsynk 8kWHi Andy.
Always glad to help. I agree with your feature suggestion. I will check with Sunsynk. The products are always under development and improvement.

Riaandp reacted to Leshen in Best electric geyser replacementHi there.
Retrofit 20 Evac tubes with a Geyserwise to the 200l geyser and change the element to a 2kw so you can run it off your inverter if needs be. Then get a Paloma 26 or Rinnai gas geyser and connect that in series after the solar geyser. Set the gas geyser to 45 degrees so that it will only heat the water to that temp. If the geyserwise shows that the water in the tank is above 45 then turn off the gas geyser. If below 45 then turn the gas geyser on to boost the temp to 45. You can also try 48 in winter.
I ran that system in my previous home and used only 18kwh per month from the Grid and a 48kg gas tank lasted 13 months with 3 adults in the home.

Riaandp reacted to Kalito in Youda's off-grid LAB@Youda Just to be clear, I am trying to crimp a serial cable for a UP2500 to ICC and I note the pin assignment is different for this battery RJ11
GND RXD TXD GND Am I right to crimp RJ11 to DB9:
Null ---> 2 ---> 3 -----> 5

Riaandp reacted to DDD in 4 Kwatt wind generatorAnd the second half is done.
The two 1/2 sections of one blade is done and matches very well.
Final trim and then to glue them together that I will do tomorrow.
The two sections/flanges works very well far better that what I expected and if I want to do fiber glass blade then its ready to start the manufacturing.
I recon with the infusion process the accuracy of the usage of resin will be far better and I will definitely use less I recon a blade with wood mounting will cost +/- R 550 or R 1650 for a set of three carbon fiber blades.
When done I recon I will push for 4 or 5 meter blades. Its easy now that I understand the process and easy to get more done.
🤩 never expected this.
This is the top part of the second 1/2. Very chuffed with it.
-
Riaandp reacted to DDD in 4 Kwatt wind generatorBeen a little preoccupied. Not happy with my flanges so I decided to remake the flange.
This is the new flange with a trial run of carbon fiber. Amazingly Carbon Fiber works easier than FG
Center is still the old section of fiber glass the black is the new Carbon Fiber and day and night difference.
Still a few not so nice but the second one will be far better and then the blades...

Riaandp reacted to randomwalsh in Pylon stuck in protectionHey where do you get the updated firmware? specifically the pylon us3000b

Riaandp reacted to DDD in 4 Kwatt wind generatorJuo,
Not so much school fees as stupidity, Her we go with a better test version.
Coil inside a 20mm plank for protection.
And the assembled unit.
Tomorrow I can start again and play with the generator.
-
Riaandp reacted to DDD in 4 Kwatt wind generatorWorked well then the welding came loose.
The unit shifted and my first casualty. But the test was good for Volts times current.
Now to rebuild and fix.

Riaandp reacted to DDD in 4 Kwatt wind generatorTnx
Tnx,
Software is easy. That's the easy stuff.
This stuff I am doing know is the difficult part. I never done any woodwork in my life let alone fiber glass. But I am getting there.
A few dumb mistakes but now got the drift. The second one should go faster.
Then I can make the first set of carbon fiber blades.
For now my worries are over and I am sure carbon fiber blades will go easier.
Cost so far not to bad. I tried foam at R220 a can should have filed 43l but then I I guess the forgot the. ie 4.2l.
Then I made the box from left over racks and kul jou hier kul jou daar en siedaar...
The resin fiber glass brushes and ... cost was R3400
From what I can see now the carbon fiber blade should cost R400 for carbon fiber and R300 for the resin.
I was quoted R24xxx for 3 blades. A set of 3 blades should cost about R 2200 that is with a diameter of 4.5M.
Not sure if I am going to use wood or aluminum for the mounting part. If I use aluminum I can make the blades feather at a small extra cost.
Guess this week I will finish the second part of the mold and then start testing the coils for max performance and optimum design. I am making use of a very cheap magnet @ R35 per magnet. But I need a few. Test will dictate the amount but I would love to harvest high Kw in the strong South Eater and North Western.
-
Riaandp reacted to DDD in 4 Kwatt wind generatorAnd after a flop or two the first mold made its appearance. A few small touch ups because of stupidity but the next one will be fine. This one is 100% usable.
Tomorrow when it is 100% dry I will sort the left overs against the side of the mold ans do the touch ups.
The blue section is the "leaf" from the prop now glued to a base of fiber glass and that will be the carbon fiber section. The steel is to ensure it dries in the correct form and place.

Riaandp reacted to lancelot in Sunsynk 8kWWith regard to the sound of the 8kw inverter. Within 6m you still here it clearly. It switches on and off so no even noice. I will not install it close to me. Spend a little and put it in the garage.

Riaandp reacted to Cybertza in Tesup - ATLAS2.0 - ReviewHi Guys
Finally had some positive feedback from Delta SA offering some assistance on the Inverter part, If all else fails, then i could just add panels to it, I did hear your comment re the startup voltage, but mine managed to reach that without to much wind. SO I don't think that that was my issue. Will keep you guys posted, As for Tesup, I would stay well clear of them, both from a product, manufacturing and service point of view on the ATLAS 2. Cant speak for their other units thou.
The design of the unit should work well, and i will be honest the smoke and mirrors on the tesup website and their marketing did catch me a bit, does look like its a wonderful unit on the website and on paper.
Haven't been able to test the DELTA stuff as per yet.

Riaandp reacted to Luminous in Sunsynk 8kWThe guy doing my install said why they don't use the thin dc strand for AC is because there is lots of little sparks between the inner part of the cable. The solid core is to limit the sparks between the strands inside the cable.

Riaandp reacted to Japie Muller in Youda's off-grid LABGood day, I just have the following question:
- I have a Synapse 5.0K+ (Axpert King).
- No firmware upgrade needed for I have the Option 05 = PYL
- I have a US3000B Pylontech Battery (not US3000C)
- I don't have a RS-485 cable, need to make one up.
Question: Is the pin-outs still the same for US3000B Pylontech?
3 to 1
1 to 3
5 to 2
2 to 5
OR is these pin-outs only applicable to US3000C?
