New Axpert model from Voltronic?

Do you want battery backup ? If not then you need a grid tie with grid limiter so not to export.

Hi virge, it might be the V-series that I have. It's like 90‰ Axpert, with some grid tie futures from the infini. Not as advanced as the infini bit does a pretty good job when it comes to mixing p

Not crappy at all, maybe you misunderstood me, unless some other Jaco thinks it is a crappy inverter. I would recommend this inverter over and over again, yes the grid feedback can be set to zero, I would install another 10 of these if I needed too. Some of the best value for money i have came across.

I have prepaid and my meter does not accept feedback

What prepaid do you have? That is the only thing that might count against you with the V_series.

Hi JDP, I have a 260A, 48 V battery bank which survived the lightning.

Jaco, if your inverter combines power sources and can be programmed not to export power then it is the best option. Can you connect 2 in parallel?

What limitations does it have?

Does AICC software work well with the V series?

Where did you buy yours from?

Thanks superdiy. So you have an Infini 3KW inverter and can program it to import part power if needed and in case you need say 5.5kw, the 3KW inverter will give you 2.5 kw from PV, 0.5 KW from battery and 2.5 Kw from the grid with no problems? Can you program it not to export to the grid? If your inverter can do this why then the Imeon 3.6 is a better inverter? Is it just marketing?

Yes, I've just configured mine to use PV, then grid for the rest, no battery while PV and grid is available.  So say 2.5KW from PV and the rest from the grid, depending on your current load requirements - some forum members has drawn 8KW in total for a few minutes from the infini 3KW inverter while the grid was available.

Edit: Yes, Feedback to grid can be enabled or disabled.

Can go up to 6 in parallel on the 4kw, you switch export on and off. For normal operation i did not experience any major limitations, the unit doesn't have the finer settings like the other infinis, one example being able to select to only mix in x watts from battery. With the V_Series you will be able to use battery while the Grid is on, but the battery will be used for the full load, up to a set point, after witch the inverter will continue to use Grid.

@Manie has done a great job with the Aicc for the V-Series, and i believe all known bugs has been addressed and sorted. I am happy with what they offered me and what the app does.

I bought mine from Takealot, their price were to the cent the same as the supplier, but they offered free delivery. At Full Circle Solar you still need to arrange your own transport.

FCS did however offer me a better price if i buy more units, but taking the transport cost into consideration, i will by from takelot again.

Thanks, good to know. I suppose you have the raspberry pi to run the app. Where did you get it from?

Do you know of a shop who has the original Voltronic Infini V? I hate the black color.

The originals on the Voltronic site are black...

Only know of FCS, but there might be others?

We still need to port the V series to the Pi version. So much to do so little time ;-)

Sorry to heat about your misfortune. Did you have surge arrestors installed?

IMG_20161027_064822.jpgHi JDP, can you tell me where I can buy from a Pi and maybe a small touch screen for it? I hope you will port the V series to the Pi.

Yes SilverNodashi I had surge arresters in the combiner box as I also had fuses on plus and minus of each string, also a DC  40A circuit breaker on the DC supply to the inverter. Unfortunately it was a direct strike which lasted for several seconds. All in the combiner box blown and the box exploded. I also had the best earthing (a network of several rectangular copper bars buried deep in the backyard. Bottom line is: nothing will survive a direct strike. My wife wanted me out because she thought the house was on fire, I did not dare to see if I will survive.

RS Components have the. Also get a 3 amp power supply and a Samsung Evo Plus SD card. They are at Makro on promotion.

Currently it will not fit on a small touch screen

If your screen is small the app will not fit on it.

The screen size is build for the standard vnc headless pi. You get too many screen sizes for us to cater for at this stage.

You dont need a screen and keyboard / mouse. I run all my pi s headless. You can use any hdmi screen to set it up in the beginning to get it on the network.

I see the need for a screen if I look at my situation.
My inverter is mounted no where close to a PC and It's really nice to be able to see what the software is doing standing right next to the inverter.
When I buy the Pi3 I will also be looking at adding a screen at some point.

Viper my Axperts are in the garage and my computers on the first floor. It gets a bit tedious going up and down the stairs. Fortunately I have wifi reaching the garage so I just VNC with my tablet to the RPi which is connected to the home LAN with a CAT5 cable. I have also tried connecting the RPi to the LAN with an Ethernet Over Powerline adapter and that works well. Some other stuff like CCTV cameras were already connected this way so it only required one adapter.

It is obviously your choice but most people run it headless.

Here you can see me with an iPad at the Inverter. This was when we started.

and here I can see what the inverter is doing in my TV room.

So you can add a screen at the inverter but I don't see the reason why to spend money on a screen that you will never use.

Yeah I know, it's the same with servers you don't need to have a screen on it all the time.
Until something goes wrong then you need :)

Also looks good when showing off the system
