At that price you can almost buy one to blow up...

Lol, good one that. The spec sheet looks identical to that of the Axpert not to mention the little blue screen. I will take 2 of the 5kVa units at that price.

I am not so clued up with the Axperts, but also noticed the similarities of specs and looks. I actually want to buy one, open it up and I am nearly sure that the inside is going to be identical, There is quite a lot of re-branding of this particular inverters going on. If this is the case I also thought that this is going to be a good buy. Even if the PV capabilities is only 3000w, by running 2 in parallel it will be 6000w at a price of 7200, which is still a bargain!

Just a thought. Read about it somewhere (maybe on the forum last year) that sometimes the "copies" have different firmware which is unsupported and does not work the same as the original.

Not sure if it is a concern, best case it is nothing and the firmware is the same.

Voltronic is an OEM company, so they willingly allow people to rebadge their inverters, hence the Mecer, Renesola and Proline inverters are legit. I'm not sure what the situation is with the firmware, @Chris Hobson, what's the situation with the Mecer?

Then there are actual knock-offs, eg the MuST UPS inverter. You can't get firmware for that one, ever.

I suppose time will tell which category this one is in. I cannot imagine that it is possible to make the Axpert cheaper... unless these units are literally dumped at below cost (for what purpose?). The old saying of something being too good to be true? ;-)

It had the original firmware now running on Coulomb's modified firmware.

When I saw the 600w max PV, I thought hold on, my friend bought a Axpert in the beginning of load shedding that had max 600w yet inverter was rated 3000va.

A lot was manufactured back then, containers full was brought into SA.

Then  2 things happened:
1)) Load shedding stopped - huge overstock in SA.
2)) The OEM saw the huge success on their range so they increased the MPPT by popular demand.

Maybe it is original stock re-branded in an attempt to get some ROI on them?
