Reading that article got me confused.

Eskom created fake load shedding.
Ted Blom says there is a problem with coal supply et al.
ANC says keep the lights on at all cost, with the resultant shortages months later.

If the load shedding was fake does that not mean that Ted Blom go it wrong ito the coal supply?
And what does the keeping Gordhan's promises got to do with the explosive "fake" load-shedding?
The "keep it on at all costs" does make sense maybe with the latest resultant diesel shortages.

Bad reporting or just three problems noted in a short article to create shock?

Or am I missing something?

And by the way, it is not Eskom calling the shots, it is the ANC telling Eskom exec's what to do so that promises to the cadres are upheld ito contract dished out left right and center.

Today it is the working middle class that must react. The people who pay the countries taxes.

And I promise you it is not the "white majority thing".

It is a call for common sense people ... with me their Pressi ... who needs to get angry and react by say pay all their taxes to an acceptable authority, not a government linked one, to get the attention of the powers that are.

Or ... Too many independent people working at, or doing work for Eskom all say the same thing: Their equipment and plants are in a bad state. Sure, perhaps they did use the money for something else. But saying it's a fake load shedding sounds like a coverup

Thing is, I can imagine it being done, very cleverly, by select "in the know" people who have either psychopathic tendencies, or just too stupid to fully comprehend the full extend of what they do, just seeing $$$.

Anyone today saying things are not worse off than before, just research their losses internationally, and know that each and every one of us are paying for that via our insurance policies.

That's the thing. 

 

I spoke to 3 different people who don't know each other at all, two working for Eskom directly and one outsourced, services their air compressors and they all say that it's really bad. Equipment break the whole time, not being maintained - either due to lack of funds or skilled engineers. 

 

Maybe there is a bit of truth in the media article as well but I am very skeptic to believe it. From another source, working on the  hydro systems, I heard that last week they pumped X down to generate power by could only pump 3/4X back up as they didn't have enough electricity to pump the full load back up again. The Vaal dam is part of one of those hydro power schemes. Google it. 

I saw an eNCA video yesterday, from about 3 weeks ago, about obtaining a foreign passport through investment. They spoke to someone from Henley and Partners. The video is somewhat thin but I did a bit more research. This is a fairly expensive exercise, you usually have to invest (or sometimes donate) around 250 000 USD to a foreign place, often by buying real estate, and then you can get a passport (and eventually citizenship). Here is the interesting bit: They now have more black customers than white ones. This in itself isn't so interesting, black people do ake up 80% of the population and white people around 9%, but it is a reversal of the normal state of affairs.

I now have two direct family connections looking at emigration. The one is literally just waiting on a Visa. The others are only talking about it. In both cases we're talking people with Masters degrees and Doctorates.

It used to be people I know who knew people who were leaving (acquantances of acquantances). It's getting very close to home now.

Silver, not for one moment do I doubt anything you relay. I just don't buy that article, it was merging 3 different issues incoherently.

Here is the thing. There are knowledgeable people in Eskom right, people who know EXACTLY what is going on in their environment.

Put it all together in one harsh article, with followups, and drive this nail into the coffin ... or put down the hammer. 

Differently put: I'm saying that enough is enough. Either there is a pending meltdown (scarign the dinges out of business and everyone else) or there is just selling more papers. Make a choice.

Another take: Moodey's did not downgrade us (no action rater) so it stand to consider that Eskom obviously is not a problem. No?

Same goes to that all the newspapers ... we need investigative reporting on this, drilled down to the "people on the ground", the people who knows whats what.

I heard the other day that this whole Eskom problem was actually created by the Afrikaners: We have a saying "vele hande maak ligte werk".  The management at Eskom believed the Afrikaners, as knowledgeable people, and started implementing ........

I tend to think, if we just switch off everything but the lights, it should still hold true?
