Dude, I've resolved for myself that step one is to get everyone a passport, and stash some money outside the country (not an easy task). I'm pretty sure nothing is going to happen and this is just some scare-mongering, but it pays to be prepared and you lose nothing otherwise. Waiting for one birth certificate, that should be here by month end. Passports apparently take about two weeks. Cutting it a bit fine if these prophets are right, though I am confident that they are not.

Technically one should always have a valid passport, that's just common sense. So much more dignified than sneaking over the border on foot.

Nothing will happen. Eksom will continue and the rains will return, you will not be invaded and Cyril will sort most Zuma drama out.

Or there is a dispute on payment, as Eskom cannot pay.
Or maybe installation is not up to standards.
Or they are not SANS or SSEG compliant. (cwl)

I go for it is too cheap so they don't use them unless there is strain on the grid.

... what I am about to say is not going to slow my decision down to install a solution at home...

But wonder if the guys with fingers on button is not yet again manufacturing problems to get government to give them money... previously we seem to always have problems just before a holiday season, just before a NERSA application, this time it is just before they go bankrupt / April and want bailout funds from Goverment.

Whats the status of those external contractors/engineers that suppose to come in and have a look/investigate, of course wonder how much information they would get in any type of timely fashion.

I have similar thoughts, they are protecting their "income" by "threatening" us the moment their is a wee bit of noise in the papers.

I don't buy it. It's months before an important election, with the new incumbent desperately seeking to reverse the downwards support trend. Eskom would simply not be allowed by their main shareholder to pull such a stunt. What is however quite possible is that with all the bad news... the people on the ground is just that little bit less likely to work overtime, do a bit more to do it right, and so forth, causing things to accelerate.

I always bring up the example of World War II. In Germany, right up to the end of the war, they had electricity, the trains ran, the phones worked. Then the war ended. You'd think things are looking up? You'd be wrong.

We thought things are looking up when Zuma was ousted. Far from it.
