We've had these promise before:No more load shedding, in another article Gordhan said Stage 1 only.We understand the problem now - Zuma said the same and so did Cyril and Gordhan before! I. CALL. BS. Gordhan and the ANC are lying having absolutely NO clue WHATSOEVER of what is going nor HOW TO FIX it because to fix it you need to admit the true extent of the problem and they cannot do that for it will cost them the elections ... and the ANC's "INCOME". This is going to cost SA dearly for the ANC will stay in power and the votes they and the DA are going to lose to voters voting for all the new smaller parties, smaller parties whom are going to be forced to form coalitions to survive - not good for SA at all. Ps. Venezuela / Zimbabwe have very similar patterns of blatant corruption that led both of them to where they are today.

April 4, 20197 yr 4 days into this latest EU visit, and I have to tell you guys. Stay in SA as long as you can. This place is expensive. The cost of renting even a two-bedroom place here is about on par with 4-bedroom and larger places over there. Every time I buy food, I work it backwards and realise I can buy food for the whole family in SA at the same price. Friends and family are down there. If you live in the less-crime-ridden Western parts, a move right now is not a smart move (I think). It depends on the future, that is for sure, and nobody knows that. On the weekend I will try to see a bit of the countryside, then I'll decide again. Right now I am in what is roughly the equivalent of "Stellenbosch", and student-town is never a good place to use for comparisons.

I used to live in Germany and have family there. Basically if you try and compare apples with apples as close as you can for most it amounts to a drop in living standards with a gain in benefits. It is a very mixed picture with no clear cut answer. For somebody that is not used to red tape and regulations it can be daunting and restrictive - not that much of an issue if you simply work for somebody else. Some things are great - other things are not. It depends very highly on your personal circumstance and expectancy. Some will absolutely hate what others love. Never make a decision based on a few days in a country. You need a lot more than that to really find out the good and the bad.

I don't live IN Cape Town, I live in a smaller place just outside, and that was done on purpose: My wife didn't want to live in the busy city (and after all this time, neither do I). So to make a proper comparison, I need to look at a house in a village just outside a large city. Then look at schools and so on, how far is it to work, and things like that. What do I do on weekends. As a touristy kinda entity at the moment, I'd say this place is awesome if you're into old buildings and museums... but I know my family is more nature-oriented and presently I have no idea if it offers anything... 🙂
