Well, let's see what the user @haudevbe has to say about using Artificial Intelligence on solar forums. Is it helpful or not?

Look AI gives a starting point on what to consider based on public knowledge - it doesn't have experience though so it needs to be taken with a pinch of salt and a sprinkling of real-world interaction for the issue to be. resolved

I am part of a programmer online discussion forum and this trend has been discussed at length on there. It basically comes down to this; The people who can afford to use AI usually don't and those that cannot afford to, do.

The uninformed are usually quick to run to AI, unaware that there are many false statements coming from it. They will never learn the real facts.

I have been in the computer world far too long to fall for this fad. I treasure experience and great insight coming from an "ou ballie" more. 😄 Fortunately there are many greatly experienced guys on this forum that have already proven their chops. They are well known by us that frequent this forum.

A disclaimer is not necessary if you don't use AI to answer questions 😉

Anyways.... AI generated content seems obviously to be out-of-place amongst normal conversation so I think everyone will already know you used it. As long as you add a little genuine Welkom charm in there as well. 😄

I use Ai extensively (mostly Grok as it's great with coding) to speed up mobile app development, massive time-saver.
There are good and bad use cases for Ai, you see all the dodgy folk (Politicians included) that think Ai will make them "clever" they are sooooo wrong 🤣 coz they don't realise you need at least a few decent braincells to use Ai correctly and effectively.

Indeed. And the way you use it conforms nicely to my earlier point.... You already know what to look for and you are able to pick up on any errors or false statements of the AI. You use it to save you some time but not to solve your issues or ignorance for you. I bet you always go over what the AI gave you just to make sure its correct.

Yip indeed, not blindly accepting the output is key :)

AI is just a fancy google. If you blindy trust results from google, you will become more uneducated as time goes on. Same with AI, it's trained on the information on the web, and does hallucinate.

My use case for AI, is to reword long worded emails etc, or to use it as a quick "search tool".

I would assume these are for simplistic in nature methods and classes. For anything else I have not found a tool that is truly useful, api to librarys tend to always be outdated, and takes longer just to actually find the updated syntax.
