Of course, Kings and Maxs have completely different main DSP firmware. They could use the same display firmware if Voltronic organised it well, but as it happens, they don't. VM IIIs and Kings share the same display firmware, but the Maxs' display firmware is different.

Hi All,

I know it has been asked countless times but please can you help a bit of a firmware flashing noob out.

I have a Mecer King and pylontechs, I have never updated firmaware and ahve been running USE with no issues experienced (for my application) for 2 years.

Model:SOL-I-AX-5K
Current versions:
U1 (Main CPU): 71.50
U2 (Secondary CPU): 01.12
U3 (Bluetooth): 00.21
U4 (SCC): 01.10

I would like to ask firstly is it worhwhile updating and connecting to the batteries using PYL for better communciation? My assumption would be yes?

Then I beleive there are 2 firmwares to update, the main and the display? what should I use that is known stable and things to look out for?

Then how do I connect the battery to the unit, I have the cable origionally supplied with the inverter, do i connect that to port 18 and the RS485 on the pylontechs (and to which, the master?)? I have read something about using specific dipswitch settings?

That's two separate questions. I'd try using your existing inverter firmware first.

There are threads on what you miss out on if you don't use the cable to the BMS. I note that you can also use the cable to connect the battery BMS to a Pi running Solar Assistant or the like, though that's extra money.

I'd say it's worth trying (to connect the inverter direct to the BMS). You'll need a cable with the correct pinout; it seems that supplied cables may not work. The main thing is that if a single cell goes too high or low in voltage, the BMS can stop charging or discharging that cell to save it. With USE setting, that won't happen, or is sudden death.

Yes. No-one seems to have the Bluetooth firmware (U3), and the SCC firmware never seems to need updating (U4).

There are no release notes to tell you what version goes with what. So best to update both to the latest you can find. You will need a Windows PC and compatible USB to RS-232 adapter for firmware updating, as well as the update files themselves. Instructions here.

Hi @Coulomb

the only reason i see it as one question is that I dont currently have the PYL option though i have the port.

Well, there is this saying: never change a working system. So if nothing really bothers you I would not change anything.

A few things were bothering me i.e. the 2A current the machine was drawing from the grid and one couldn't turn it off. So I went and upgraded (in steps) U1 to 71.95 and U2 to 02.60 what I found being the best combination for me and my machine (exactly the same as you have). I use solpiplog on a raspberry pi to monitor and control the inverter. That works fine for me and a lot of issues are solved but what hasn't been solved is that the inverter is not SOC controlled but voltage controlled. Apparently this can be overcome with solpiplog but I haven't been able to verify it.

Last not least the BMS works fine with the inverter. Especially the charge current setting and the do not charge command. On the other hand the charge voltages are 53.2V for bulk and float. There are opinions that this is too high although Pylontech confirms this being right. So if you think these voltages should be lower you must not use the PYL option because it forces the voltages to 53.2V.

Hi there

Can someone please help. I have the Axpert king Sol-i -ax-5rm model and currently have uodated my firmware to 7508 and now my raspeberry pi do not see any communication from inverter.

Possible to downlmgrade to other version perhaps

Can you let me have such a tool because my inverter got messed up? I have to extract firmware from a similar inverter and reload it to my inverter.

It's quite complex, you need special hardware, and the chances of success are very low because you need a password. I have one for what is now an old, uncommon model, so the password likely won't work anyway.

What model is this?

@RichieRich,

What was your previous main firmware version?  Did everything work correctly with it?

I have 71.93 if you want to give it a try.  PM me if you want me to send you the files.

I am also on 71.93 for Main CPU (U1)

I have three Units running in Three Phase Mode, I did not get all three machines at the same time, therefor I had to flash all the machines with the current version (71.93), but it seems like the Secondary CPU (U2) did not change on the oldest of the three machines.

The oldest of the three machines show firmware version 02.00 for U2, whilst the newer two machines both show 02.40

Is it possible to only flash the Secondary CPU's firmware?

Hello! Axpert king II 5KW inverter with pylontech us5000 battery throws error 61 error code, I use it with any communication cable. What can be the solution? I am attaching a picture of the software versions. Thank you for your help.

The second link requires permissions. Or you could just tell us the version. First is 119.11.

How did it come to be in this situation? What firmware versions did it come with, and what have you reflashed with?

Edit: I was thinking that fault code 61 meant that the display is not talking to the DSP, but of course warning code 61 means it's not talking to the battery BMS.

Edited by Coulomb

Coulomb thanks the answer.

So, according to the inverter 2022.02 production sticker.
  U1 50.01
U2 119.13
I never updated it, it came with this.
Model name: Axpert king II 5KW (48v)
(where I bought it, they said original voltronic, but I don't think so)
-Built-in Wi-Fi, but I don't use it.
-It is connected via micro usb with Rpi Solar assistant monitoring.
Until now it was with a plain acid battery, but now I bought a Pylontech us5000 battery.

I would also like to connect the BMS to the inverter, but it does not communicate with the pylontech cable or with the various combinations found here on the forum.

In the inverter, menu 05 is set to PYL
Battery DIP 1000 set.
Thus, the inverter throws error 61.

I'm clueless.....

Yes, I only asked because I was on the wrong track with the warning/error code.

Sorry, I don't own a Pylontech, but I assume it must still be a cable related issue. Though you need to try each combination for at least a minute or two, since it seems to take that long to connect.

Thank you.

Maybe you can help me to ensure that this software version can communicate with the inverter? (I read that although it can be set in the menu, it cannot communicate.)

I collected cable combinations from several forums.
Could you sing the combinations you suggested?

I've definitely tried these all ports(3 original)

Coulomb děkuje za odpověď.

Tedy podle výrobní nálepky měniče 2022.02.
  U1 50,01
U2 119,13

Battery DIP 1000 set.
  Invertor tedy vyvolá chybu 61.

Jsem bezradný.....

Latest FW is 50.12 and Display 19.14
Pylontech wiring is Inverter 3 - 5 and battery 7 - 8

Thank you for your answer too.

I have already tried this cable variation, but still 61 errors.

Can I somehow measure whether the inverter can communicate on the rs458 port?
The software update would be the last.

Děkuji také za odpověď.

Tuto variantu kabelu jsem již vyzkoušel, ale stále 61 chyb.

Mohu nějak změřit, zda měnič umí komunikovat na portu rs458?
Aktualizace softwaru by byla poslední.

RS 485 is provided by the STM32F107 processor
If you have version 19.14, try playing the display.
I have not tried sending commands to the inverter. I tried it on a pylon battery

Tomu nerozumím, vysvětlete to prosím podrobněji.

Do you have a Reflesh file? Version 19.14 ?
With AX KING II, the problem was mainly with measuring the voltage + current from the solar input. And also the charging current to the battery. Version 50.12 will fix all this.

There is also a fix for display version 19.14.
What do you enter in program 5? In the inverter menu? In order for RS485 communication to work for the pylon, it must be set to PYLON. If Pytes is on DLG, it must be on LIB. Then the inverter will communicate

I even have 19.16 from Voltronik.
If it still doesn't work, I'll try it on Monday at work with the Battery. IF there was a problem with me too. I'll deal with Voltronic
