March 19, 201610 yr Author Well my supplier was in Russia for the last two weeks and so my monopole finishing off had to wait, but he is back or on his way back to heidelberg and told me the cost of a freight co to bring the pole down to CT....how about R25k??? so he has decided to come visit and bring my 1 ton pole with by road as his helicopter cannot lift it...He is going to spend a day or so with me explaining the new controllers he has available, hear this they can accommodate wind, PV, battery, dump load and an output for geyser. Once the battery bank is fully charged all excess power is diverted to the geyser... The pole when it arrives has to go for galvanizing then i am ready to mount the head unit and press the button for it to lift up.... more news when it arrives
March 19, 201610 yr Author Yep Clint, i decided to do a hydraulic lift unit, just in case i change head units as often as i do inverters........ so many options out there to play with
April 2, 201610 yr Author Today i got the time to weld up my mounting structure with a reinforcing web, now to dig a 2m x 2m x 1.2m deep hole.....think i will do the concrete on Monday..
April 2, 201610 yr I must admit I forget that the thing needs a serious foundation with all the torque etc is will endure... Looks like a great job done... make space for the mixer truck... no hand mixing here ...

How did the concrete go? If you haven't done it yet I would suggest covering all the nuts and threads with plastic bags and tape!

April 6, 201610 yr Did you get an engineer to spec that, or are you doing the normal "farmer" thing where you simply make it large enough so that any idiot can see it's going nowhere? :-)

April 6, 201610 yr Just now, Mike said: what you take me for??? Hehehe, obviously you're an old hand at this. But I know that Farmer thing. I have family like that. Use pipe that's twice as thick as necessary to make gates. That thing is never breaking... the pole next to it will break but not that thing. Even if you farm with Brahman cattle...

April 6, 201610 yr What a view... What spec cable do you have from pole inside... also do you know of hybrid wind controllers that will feed to load without passing through battery bank - al la Axpert/Infini? We'll all be looking for your turbine on Google Earth in a few weeks (or when they update ;))
