August 18, 20223 yr Hi Seems I have the same issue that @Tsa was having way back in 2020 - random trips and restarts. On restart there are no fault codes, etc. I did manage to catch one of these trips and it was a 04/20 error. I have the SPF5000ES with 2 x Dyness B3 batteries + Canadian Solar PV. These issues only started happening when I added the 2nd B3 battery. The Dyness rep told me that both batteries have the latest firmware - based on the serial numbers. The inverter has the 67/68 firmware. Any suggestions / recommendations to remedy this issue?

The two firmware updates they sent me are for two different things inside the inverter (Thanks to @Coulombfor taking a look at the firmware and confirming this): The ARM chip. The DSP. Feedback from @Coulomb: "So there are two firmwares in there, a TMS320F2809 (same DSP as most Axperts), and an ARM chip (Axpert Kings have one of these in the removable display)." The firmware pack that I am providing to people who PM me asking for help contains both of those firmware updates, and they are both necessary to sort out all the BMS issues properly. If you don't have both of those firmware updates installed, one of the symptoms is that BMS comms will appear to be working and there will be no errors BUT the SOC level will be stuck at 100% and the batteries will never get charged, which means that if you have solar connected it will never kick in and be used to charge your batteries. And we have also confirmed that the firmware resolves the issues for a single standalone inverter and more than one inverter connected in parallel. Hi , May i ask that you send me the firmware updates as well [email protected]
October 4, 20223 yr Hello, I used a cable with RS485 for a while and now I use a CAN cable. I noticed that there is a difference in data reporting on the 2 types of communication. More precisely, on RS485 I have never seen the battery with 100% charge, it was at most 98% and recently even 97%. Since I changed the cable to CAN, now it shows me SOC of 100%. So I think that communication on CAN is much better. For CAN I use a network cable (one to one) and for inverter LI at 05 and L052 at 36. DIP at battery 1-ON and the rest OFF. I have an SPF5000ES and 2 pcs US3000C.

Hallo. I am also three months having the same model and same batteries, I also experienced the same, I made calls and research from various people and dealers. 1. It was then concluded that Growatt 3kva has two fans which runs it, the noise depends on the load and are not suppose to stop provided the inveter is provided load. 2. Best option is to install it little bit far if the noise factor might be a challenge 3. I was also adviced to keep the place closer to inveter dust free so that the fan might not accumulate dust and affect the smooth running of the fan. 4. I personally have adapted to the fan noise though it was too irritating the first week of installation 5. (Subject to correction and further inputs)
November 8, 20223 yr HI HUYS GOT 5KW GROWATT INVERTER 1 X 4.8VOLT PYLONTECH BATTERY CONNECTED AS BACK-UP SYSTEM - NO PANELS - JUST WANT POWER DURING LOADSHEDDING. GOT COMMS CABLE AT RS485 AND NOT IN CAN PORT AS WAS SUGGESTED BY SILICONKID - NOW MY BATTERY SHOWS ON APP AS 255% FULL - WORKING GOOD ALL ROUND - DOES NOT WANT TO CONNECT WITH THE PROGRAM 2 ON LI - WHAT SHOULD SETTINGS IN GENERAL BE FOR ABOVEMENTIONED SETUP. BATTLING TO GET CORRECT PROGRAM SETTINGS FOR THIS INVERTER & BATTERY?

Not sure whether the LAN cable is a 1 to 1 or whether the Pylontech requires the cable to be made up. With my battery it's 1 to 1.
December 26, 20223 yr Hi there. I have tried everything besides firmware updates. Would you mind to share on [email protected] please.
February 6, 20233 yr My 8x agm batties died so I decided to upgrade to a polytech up5000 Growatt SPF 5000TL HVM-P (build 500.07/002.03/null). FW that came with the inverter. Switched Inverter to run off battery only. Disable A/C input and A/C output and PV input. Go to setting 5 and select battery type = Li. Then select profile L02. Now shut down the inverter (wait for the display to die) and switch off the batteries with the red switch Connect the communications cable between the inverter and the battery I made up a Cat5 cable as follows: Inverter Side Pin 1 White\Orange Pin 2 Orange Pin 3 White\Green Battery Side Pin 6 - GND White\Green Pin 7 - RS485A Orange Pin 8 - RS485B White\Orange Cut the remaining\unused wires off Connect cable on battery side to the port labeled - B/RS485 Connect cable on inverter side to the port labeled - BMS port Set your Baud rate to 9600. Dipswitches 1 0 0 0 (1-ON 2-OFF 3-OFF 4-OFF) Switch on your batteries followed by the inverter. Inverter came online with no errors and has been running smoothly for 2 days now The only problem I have now which has been discussed on the tread before is the fact that once the batteries are fully charged Solar is switched off. Yesterday which was a nice sunny day the system went in to overload error 07 and switched off when wife used the stove pushing the use to 2.6kw. I have 3.8kw worth of panels and the only thing I can think of is that max charge option 2 which is now being controlled automatedly and from what I've been seeing is being set between 10A - 32A is cause. So far I've not seen the system using more that 1600kw from the panels. I see user "ISS" reported fw 500.12 that might have corrected the solar disconnect issue. Has anyone tried is to confirm? Thank you.

Thank you. Confirmed with Growatt that firmware 500.12 (SPF5000TL HMV-P) is the latest normal firmware as of 03-03-2023. They do have a few others that address specific issues like Negative Value of power generation/ Daily restart of inverter to fix PV input/Continuing 01 warning ect to name a few. But these are only given out to fix specific issues as needed. Both Growatt and Pylontech confirmed the above comm cable pinout as correct using 05 Li protocol 04 If 04 gives you error 20,04 - if already on firmware 500.12 start at step 5 1. Note down all your inverter settings 2. remove all loads 3. restart inverter 4. update firmware to 500.12 5. restart inverter with no load - insure it starts up normally 6. reset inverter to factory - Press UP+Down together (Display will change to code 00) Press enter and adjust to 305 (up 3 enter, up 5) Press enter twice and wait for long beep and unit will spin up. 7. restart the inverter and set all your settings previously noted down in step 1 - if it happens that you get a error (LED is light) as soon as you set 05 Li 04 - wait 10-15sec for to comms to establish. 8. Restore loads Setting 05 LI 02 will also work but will "cap" your max charge current to around 32Amp which intern will limit you PV input to around 1650watt - this is because 02 is close enough to 04 for Pylontech and the inverter to communicate but not fully. Since factory resetting my inverter after updating to 500.12 my PV is no longer limited and I'm able to fully carry my loads and charging my batteries at the same time using 05 Li 04 on a sunny day.
March 30, 20233 yr Hi Everyone I have the following setup: 2 x Growatt 5000TL 4x Pylontech 3000c Lithium's 24 x 335w Panels I am using the BMS setup on the Growatts (setting 5 = LI then 36 = 04) Does anyone know on setting 36 (apart from setting 4 or 2) whether there are other Pylontech configurations) I have tried to use the USE setting fro setting 5 but then you cannot use the Shine app to manage the batteries. Thank you in Advance

Thank you in Advance What exactly isn't working\showing on the Shine app? When I communicated with Pylontech earlier this year they insisted on using Li 05 L04 only. From what I could gather that is what was tested between them and Growatt since Growatt on the TL only provides an RS485 port so if your using the cable I have above you should be fine. That being said you could try CAN. On the inverter side, the battery comm cables remain in the RS485 port but on the Pylontech you would swap over to the CAN port now and use setting Li 05 L52 on the inverter. Take note that your comms cable pinouts will change now to: Inverter Side Pin 4 CAN-H Pin 5 CAN-L Did a quick Google for the 3000c manual it appears to be the same pinouts. So make up a new cable with ONLY these 2 connected on each side. Battery Side Pin 4 CAN-H Pin 5 CAN-L

Growatt SPF 5000TL HVM-P with latest firmwares loaded. 2 x Shoto SDA10-48100 (5.12Kwh) Batteries Batteries are connected as per manufacturer including the RS485 cables provided for BMS communication between batteries. According to manual RS485A port on 1 Device and RS485A Port on second device. Dip Siwtches are set to 1 on and 5 on on second device. Straight RJ45 cable is plugged in on CAN port on Battery with dip switch 5 and on BMS port on Growatt inverter One advice I did get from Growatt was that I should use RS485 with Option 36 set to L07. I have done this and it appears that it is talking as I am not getting error 20. LIT icon is on next to battery. Only message now is warning 04. Low battery. Shine server is reporting SOC as 0% According to SOC lights on batteries themselves = 50%-75% charging. I am not sure if the comms are correct or if I am missing something. Any guidance or advise on what to check will be greatly appreciated. Hi @Robert DT, did you ever get this resolved?

Good day, I am running the Growatt inverter SPF 5000 ES with Pylontech battery UP5000, and 5 x 540w Solar panels. The inverter was running fine without any issues for the first 10 months, Since the past 2 months, the inverter keeps on tripping and restarting during the day when the battery is almost full. The random trips/restarting can happen 3 times in an hour. If I switch off the PV input, then trip stops. Please could kindly advise of any suggestions or recommendations to resolve this issue.
May 19, 20233 yr Sabza, From what you say, it sounds as if the string from your panels is for some reason producing a higher voltage than what your inverter can handle. I guess your 5 x 540 W panels are all set in series, but even then, the theoretical voltage would be about 250 V DC 2.700 W 10.6 A and the Growatt SPF5000ES can take as much as 430V and 18.3 A.... There is however a fact that PV panels can produce more power than their specs during these days in Spring when the sky is clear but temperatures are still low, but there is no way they can produce such a difference. Are your panels in series?
