What you could do is to find a make like we have that does not apply PWM of 2000W on some of the lower settings but a constant lower value. As indicated due to this switching on and off of 2000W is why your fans followed suit. It is very annoying to have a make that applies PWM like a microwave does to control the power. My current unit always works only with PWM but I find it far better than using element heating for cooking.

Yes the 2 brands are the same and built in the same factory.. The software/graphics do look different and about the only difference. If you look at the average PV in your area then you will be fine and have some PV that you cannot use due to the battery full and not enough load connected during the day time. You will get periods like 14-02 to 19-02 where you have to manage your load very well or have a generator. This is my system in Centurion.

If you read the battery topics on Pylontech you will see if for any reason the battery reached 53.6V they will not honour a claim. How can this happen? Inverter perhaps slow to react, switching off a high load or the inverter accuracy not spot on. Not a train smash but just to know how they treat a single high voltage as recorded by the log files. We tend to feel the BMS should play it's part in disconnecting before such an event. But having said this 53.5V could work for you for a long time.

So you think the people in Europe that do install PV while they have power nearly 24/7/365 have it all wrong. We complain each time when Eskom asks for high increases think about them that saw power increasing in cost to 3 times than before the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Many a pensioner would like to stretch their income and try and save. My own saving system I had as my main system has paid itself 2 times over in less than 6 years. My back up was just much smaller in output using 3 inverters. Savings went into my current full hybrid system like most of our members. A guy I had a long chat with brain storming systems installed his Synsynk to save as much as possible and got his money back in less than 3 yrs. Yes he will be adding a battery later. Now with less load shedding we do see people asking "is it still worth installing a PV system?" and that while the cost is so much lower than 2 yrs ago.

The current settings seems to be in the right direction. As lithium does not need float the float being 2.7V lower being quite a large portion of the capacity. Just my 2c.

A 2nd battery would be a good call as you have mentioned you get long power outings in your area. There is another thread talking about the 6kwSunsynk which is selling at about the same price as the 5kw Sunsynk and only has one timer setting less. Seems Deye is following. The 6kW thus a better call.

set the bulk and absorbption Voltages to 3.45V, instead of the presumably 3.6V per cell. Thus 16 X 3.45V for bulk and absorption, which is 55.2V this will not quite get you to the 80% you're looking for, with LiFePO4's, I think it may be next to impossible to get there, unless you have a BMS which does coulomb counting and will let you, based on this count, limit the charge into the cells... 3.45V will still get you to 100% it will just take longer. The problem is balancing might not take place depending on the BMS fitted.

And to think I am a bit further South in Centurion and the longest power failure I have had in 35 years happen to be 36 hrs. That was when a mini sub burnt out. At the time I could not in a dream think Tshwane could do it in such a short period. 😂😂

I will try to explain. Your post indicated when the battery was say down to 51V you will start discharging once you hit 54V. Yet your bulk charging is below this value. Thus you will never reach 54V to start the discharge cycle. The re-discharge should thus be lower than the bulk charge where charging would stop and you start discharging again. Thus my previous reply was to start discharging when below the bulk (max) charging level.

Normally one will use a back to re-discharge as the battery has received quite a bit of charge but not to wait until it is nearly full. Around 50-51.5V is a possible starting point.

Just a comment on your settings. You have re-discharge at 54V yet your bulk is to only bulk charge to 53V. In theory it means you never reach the re-discharge after you started re-charging. PYLTECH specs give a maximum charge up to 53.5V. If the inverter is slow to stop charging at 53V it could reach the 53.5V level. These batteries are prone to give problems if over charging I guess from the posts on the forum. Also it seems it is using lead acid levels for these lithiums. The fact that it worked well with your USER settings for years and now gives weak warnings looks like they are suffering with quick discharge levels that are a new warning and worth investigating if there are not weak cells causing this warning. Not a user of these batteries but just some general comments based on your information provided. One would need to see the per cell voltage levels when you get this weak warning.

When I'm running on solar or battery, my purchasing power is 0, but if I were forced to purchase a steady 100W power in that same period, I mean it's small, but it would really irritate me. As per your reply if one is running a low power install and you have to buy 100W all the time it comes to 2.4kWh per day. I buy less than 1kWh a day even if I top up on some mornings 4h to 6h30 as low as 0.1kWh to be save. That is why I switch off my Grid via smart switch after 06h30. I can confirm my Deye does save the grid use from 0 to any value keyed in.

My 2c would be to start with say 4 batteries due to the cost. Learn to use the features of the inverter. Make hay while the sun is shining even more so with the heat generated items or pumps and monitor the SOC. For those with grid use a highish SOC and set the timer to use grid if available. The decide within a few months if more battery power is needed.
