cyber7 reacted to stefan44 in GSPK10W from GizzuI am glad you found a solution.
keep well

cyber7 reacted to stefan44 in GSPK10W from GizzuI highly doubt if a 12v power supply will charge the battery, you need a power supply more than the battery voltage of 14.3v, as these units almost always employ a PWM architecture or a simple buck converter topology, in either case you will need a voltage higher or equal to battery voltage.

cyber7 reacted to stefan44 in GSPK10W from Gizzuthey use a lifepo4 battery,
I would connect a normal car 12v charger(non intelligent) to the solar input of the unit (18v max) just make sure of polarity, and use the internal PWM solar charger as it's setting is correct for the lifepo4 battery inside.

cyber7 reacted to frivan in GSPK10W from GizzuThat should work... Probably you want above 14.3V and below 18V. I guess you want around 500mA.

cyber7 got a reaction from james naidoo in Wanted: Pylontech US3000c side mounting bracketHi Guys
I am looking for the 19" side bracket that fits onto the battery. I had mine on a table, but lost one set and now it is in a rack mount...
Thank you

cyber7 got a reaction from CobusK in Gas Bottle Flow Automation and monitor. So, I followed a bit of writing and trying to get what fits my environment and needs 100%. Following the KEG MONITOR steps I ended up with a very nice system. The Afrox supplier I use prints on the bottles the empty weight, so easy to calculate... Go watch the videos and build it, it just works

cyber7 reacted to BritishRacingGreen in Gas Bottle Flow Automation and monitor.Yes, measuring weight is pretty cool, as we do not rely on flow integration errors. I mean you can have the controller off during usage due to power loss. Next time you switch on, it gives the kg usage, nothing lost.
Would be great if members can feed back their experience re bringing up such a meter, and the level of accuracy experienced.
And my take on face value is we dont really need a great accuracy, a percentage that is indicative of the bulk usage will be good for me. Like 10,20,30,40 percent etc.

cyber7 reacted to VisN in Gas Bottle Flow Automation and monitor.A nice idea until it goes with the old tank when the tank gets replaced. I've been toying with the idea of building an IOT scale to monitor the weight and thereby ascertaining the level.

cyber7 got a reaction from system32 in SunSynk WiFi Dongle Hacking.ps - thought about it and it will be easier just plugging a "serial cable" into the inverter...

cyber7 reacted to Sc00bs in SunSynk WiFi Dongle Hacking. Is an ESP32 MCU, would be cool to reflash with ESPhome and pull all the data from the inverter that way.

cyber7 reacted to Sc00bs in SunSynk WiFi Dongle Hacking. When you say the "Sunsynk dongle", are you talking about the new Sunsynk dongle or the older Solarman dongle that plusg into the Sunsynk inverters?
I don't know of any projects using the new Sunsynk dongle's as yet
There are a number of projects using the Solarman Dongle for connection via Wifi to Home Assistant.
https://github.com/StephanJoubert/home_assistant_solarman
Otherwise you can bypass the dongle altogether and connect using the RS485 port on the inverter with a USB/RS485 converter to you Home Assistant box.
https://github.com/kellerza/sunsynk
or you can use the Node Red Flows created by @Bloubul7

cyber7 reacted to Kalahari Meerkat in Do I have to remove "solar-assistant" to run the Nodered environment?Modbus RS485 connection can only have one master, so having 2 devices query the inverter would not work...
-
Hi, to my knowledge yes if you are wanting to run nodered on the same pi that solar assitant is currently running on. Solar assistant is designed purely as an inverter monitor with some control.
You can use a second pi to run your automation and control and read the solar assitant values via mqtt and not have to use a splitter? In any case adding another device to read your inverter depends on what protocol your inverter is communicating with. I don't have enough experience to comment on the specifics but sharing your hardware details will help those better qualified to comment.

cyber7 got a reaction from wolfandy in Adding a 3rd Pylontech US3000cI found it, you are quite correct, the 111A is the correct value - Thank you @wolfandy

cyber7 reacted to wolfandy in Adding a 3rd Pylontech US3000cUnless you need to lock your battery cabinet, don't buy any of the ones from solar shops - they are way too expensive. Google for Samson SRK12 (for 4x Pylon) or SRK16 (for 5x) at much lower cost. And buy at least one size bigger than you need at the moment (as you probably will add more Pylons in the future)
Yes, recommendable to get the batteries to a similar voltage. Do not be put off if the SOC shows different between the old ones and the new one for the first week or so
You need to adjust the battery capacity on the Battery screen (from 144Ah to 222Ah)
Everything else (e.g., max charge current) the inverter will pick up from the Pylon BMS

cyber7 got a reaction from Energy-Jason in New installation.Hi Guys
Total newbie here. I am about to get the following system installed on Monday:
8 x JA Solar 540W Mono Sunsynk 8K Hybrid 2 x Pylontech US3000c I am doing this through an installer as I need this done before the next big Eskom madness hike and the next lot of breakdowns by an inept parastatal. I opted to get a bigger inverter to enable me to expand.
I already have most of my lights on LED's, my geysers on solar (one tube and one panel) and also on timers. My Hob is gas, not my stove. I have brought my consumption down from 56-59kw/day to 42kw/day.
What software can I use to monitor the system? Is there a way to automatically and remotely switch power-hungry systems? kind regards
Aubrey
