  1. Hi Achmed Please explain what you mean by 35A or 90A on a 5KW or 8Kw Sunsynk inverter . Is this all to load utilities? To me If you pass through 90A on a 8kw inverter to the load and the mains fail it would mean about 450A draw from the battery if it is all to the utilities or am I confused. To me passthrough for the 8KW would mean battery max charge of about 38A and max load of about 38A not a output load to utilities and not 90A to utilities. To me passthrough for the 5KW would mean battery max charge of about 24A and max load of about 24A not a output load to utilities and not 35A to utilities.
  2. Hi You have tested everything as best you can. Personally I would not purchase the parallel kits until I was sure that those boards had the problem as that would be +R2000 waist if it is not the problem. I would wait to see if anyone on the forum can help you to target the faulty board.

  4. Hi I use some wifi cameras on my property. You say you want the camera on the corner of the plot. I am not sure if it is the 150m spot. That distance seems pretty far for a wifi camera and the first thing I would suggest that you find out or test the camera if it will be in range for your wifi. As far as I know 150m would be out of range for most cameras even at line of sight.

Hi I suppose If you let all the water go through the black pipe the flow will be such that there will be very little heat transfer because the water flow will be too much and the water will not have time to heat up and only the hot water initially in the pipe will have any effect. In some some solar geysers the water only flows when the is a a few degrees difference and the pumps are very small.

    Hi ErickvWyngaard To test if it is the surge arrestor that is causing the fault all you have to do is to remove it and see if the graph comes right. If it is the fault replace it.

    Hi ErickvWyngaard I would like to know what the pv configuration is as GreenMan asked. The graph shown shows a definite problem if there was no clouds. If there are parallel strings I would firstly try to see if any one of the stings are faulty by removing each string one by one and seeing if you can get the graph to read correctly. Not for max wattage output but to try to eliminate any faulty string by getting an even graph. If you find a faulty string then you can go and check each pv panel of the faulty string. You should also check the surge arrestors if fitted.

    Hi I think if your pv voltage drops below 60v (MPP Range @ Operating Voltage 60-115VDC ) according to specs you will produce no power if it is overcast.
  13. Hi Tariq I am sure your assumption is pretty much correct. Most automobiles have chassis on negative (0v). Some older automobiles are positively grounded(+). The negative can be joined to many instruments and therefore will carry current for more than one instrument. The positive wires are normally single or grouped together from an instrument and go to the fuse box and protect them before going to the battery. Negative wires can be joined or taken from various places and can aid in the wiring to reduce the volume of wiring of a automobile.
  14. Hi Nico1 This will be my last post on this topic. Thank you for the video. The video link does show a load of about 6.7Kw load going through the inverter (infinisolar VII 3Kw). No surprise there is also a flashing error 7 showing. This error is "overload " in the manual. This error is to warn you not to overload the inverter. The inverter will shut off or can be damaged if it continues to be overloaded and therefore cannot continue for extended time periods under overload conditions. They do no spec the inverter at 3KW to allow it to run at 8KW continuously. The 40 amp ac transfer relay at the input allows you to charge the batteries at 80amps 48vdc which converts to about 16amps ac 220v plus the 13amps 220vac for the output plus some losses and working current which works out to about 31amps 220vac in total that you can run continuously. This explains why there is a 40amp ac transfer relay and not to load the inverter output to 40amps(8.8KW). The other thing is that if the grid power switches off at night or overcast day you would have to draw about 200amps at 48volts from your battery with a 8kw load and I am sure your battery cable, fuse and battery cannot handle that and that is also as good indication that what you are doing is wrong which also puts your theory to rest. The circuit breaker on the output side at the inverter and in your db feeding your home for this inverter should be about 15amp or 20 amps max to protect your 3KV inverter and wiring. Last word Do not overload you inverter as it will eventually break. Stick to the specifications given and if you are not sure do not make up your own theories as they might be wrong and in this case are definitely wrong as nico1 said "can run 8kw load with beep silent and bypass mode disabled" For a very short period sure. If you ask advice from people who have experience with inverters it would be wise to heed their advise and if you still not sure go to an installer and ask them what the specifications mean however I suspect you will not heed anybody's advice and you will eventually pay the price. I still do not understand why you would continue on this down foolish path. Best of luck with your theories.

  16. Hi Speedster As far as I know you can set to export or feedback power and can be set at a specific setting. This is only possible if there is excess pv power not used by the battery, load and aux. This is the setting that uses the ct value to stop or allow exporting of power back to the grid. You cannot also export power if there is no grid power available (load shedding etc). The only other way to export power is switch off the output load and set the inverter to export all pv power to the grid and non essentials tied to the grid.
  17. Hi Yes it is possible as mentioned as the aux output is not coupled directly to the grid. The non essential load are usually to me are mainly higher current loads (geyser, stove, aircon etc.) and this could be a problem as these would add many KW' s as load and you are limited to the inverters output spec. not only the battery capacity as well as the problem of dipping which I do not think is resolved.
  18. Hi Gerrie I am sure to feed non-essential loads coupled to grid directly during load shedding will not be possible as this will cause the power to be fed back into the grid. The answer to fix this would be fit a separate change over switch to disconnect from the grid and add it to the non essentials or a generator, however this would be difficult and could overload the inverter combined with other problems..
  19. Hi Nico We are waiting now two weeks for the proof that a infinisolar VII 3KW can run loads of 8KW continuously without the changeover switch on (bypass). Just one photo will do. I know this is a tall, tall story and will never and can never be produced. i must remind you that many newbies read our posts and misinformation can lead them to make wrong decisions and choices. I just don't get it
  20. Hi Cassie You can clean the components inside the inverter, You will need make sure you disconnected all power from pv panels, mains and battery before you open or clean the inverter. It will be advisable to change the fans to avoid further problems. Alcohol based cleaners are ok (meths, propanol, ethanol , methanol). A paint brush to remove dust is good. I have done it many times without problems. If you are worried about static you an get a antistatic mat with a earth strap to yourself however I do not think it is necessary. Compressed air will also help a lot after you have remover oil. It is pity there is no longer Freon to use as a cleaner.
  21. Hi Sam Does the batteries have a communication attached to them (a lan cable)for the BMS? If not the inverter has no control on each individual battery and should charge both of them at the same time.
  22. Hi I do believe the inverter is being bypassed and is in grid feedback as there is no batteries connected and the inverter output does not have to be connected. The only advantage would be the power monitoring of the grid.
  23. Hi I have another question. How do you get power as night ? I have a suspicion that the inverter is being bypassed by a changeover switch and during the day the pv power is fed back into the grid. this would mean the output power from the inverter is not connected. This would also show that there is no power usage measured at night and the pv feedback would be measured during the day. The ac light would also remain on.
  24. Hi I agree that the settings can be wrong. The DC light is correct as this is illuminated only when pv power is present. The system is showing that it only works or has been set to work on pv power only.

    Hi To add to my previous post. My personal choice if I was not tied to the grid and relying on the inverter I would seriously consider a parallel system to avoid no power if a single inverter goes faulty.
