  1. Jip, this morning I had some fun. You know when you get that smell of something burning out and it's bad one. Run my ass off in to the garage in to a nice white smoke. Drop all power and the first thing that go's up in my mind is the inverter or mppt that took a hit of the vacuum cleaner " but i can't be because the vacuum cleaner got a slow start before going in to full power and my inverter is 8kw and there is solar". Start doing closer inspection and following the smell, found the HA-20 super warm and the smell is coming from it. Jip, melted the wires and some stuff inside.

  4. I need to follow this to. Same story for me but I'm planning to go 90% off grid.
  5. MLT is a local SA product and there factory is in cape town and they have branches over south africa and one in Namibia. So if you have a problem with your MLT inverter, they send someone out. Parts inside is replaceable. Same with Victron. They have really good backup to in SA and some of the guys that runs Victron and that have installed them will confirm with this. SMA the same story. Yes, they are expensive but they got a name and warranty that can back it up. Microcare is local SA product to but abour 70% of comments that go's around is complaints. I called them one's to get info for replacing a board for mppt and after that mailed them to get a written quote, 2 months later, still no responds. So far with my MLT a can't complain and i bought it second hand and got the service record of it to. They are really helpful. At my father work they run 17 of them and some of them 16 and 24 kVa 3phase. If first se how they look inside, then you will be really impress.
  6. Buy something that have local backup in SA. All 3 of that brands have local backup that will help you.
  7. They where on sale in Aug for R32000 in tax by Revov. Some of the dealers sell them for way more. One of the guys on group bought one on sale. 10.2kw 200amp
  8. Victron , SMA and MLT is the way to go if you want something that you switch on and forget about.
  9. No one? I'm busy pulling one up, just taking a bit of time learning the program that i'm using it with.
  10. So busy getting all my stuff together for my new setup for my house. It will 90 % off-grid, other 10% is for the oven and solar geyser that will still be connected to the grid. I'm busy pulling up the design/diagram using Draw.io . I got a design/diagram of someone setup that is up and running and using design tips there, but i'm looking for more tips and designs from other. Can someone post some of there designs if it's possible and give some tips what you must add in your drawing. Thanks.
  11. Ai!!!! not n lekker one, know your feeling. I had some bad experience with couriers. One year with The Courier Guy where they damage a R45 000 audio amp of mine that was send to me. Had a massive fallout with the CEO. And the other day I order panels from IBC, I ask if I can come pick it up because i don't trust the couriers. Nope, they will send it with Triton Express. Guess what happens, it ends up at a wrong address , luckily I kept eye on the tracking. Eventually got hold of Triton and request my courier money back and went to collect it. You don't want to see how that box look like. Hope you get it sorted with them.
  12. Hhahahahah!! I will hunt them down with my big black frisbees 😜 And way more, even all the new artist stuff gets press now, and you even get High End Audio records. I'm part of a audio group and Audio SA forum. If you think solar stuff is expensive, then you still need to look in the black hall of audio equipment
  13. Big time!!! Last month the record sales went past the CD sales in EU side. There some regular record/vinyl faire's going on cape town side, actually one this upcoming Sunday. I own two record players and my record stack is getting bigger. Ooooo yes, do you guys remember the 5fm group on IRC?

  19. OOOOO wait, sorry, missed that part. my bad.
  20. Is this area cover where you putting the MPPT and inverter up? They guys can correct me but I will not put this units up in the outside elements.
  21. Just crimp a lug on your yellow cable to for earthing.
  22. Next best think after warm bread with butter is HEAT SHRINK . I head shrink everything and only use tape if i need to. When i started to go in High end audio stuff, and you want to make something look good, then you use Heat shrink and Breaded sleeving. Best place to go is https://www.three-d.co.za/#!items/cable-protection. They got a off-cut bin there where you sometimes can get something for free to if you buy some stuff. "the one in Montague Gardens". There prices is really good compare to other places. You buy of a roll so you pay met meter. The stock the Crimping ferrules that Jaco is talking about : https://www.three-d.co.za/contactus.html#!items/cable-terminals
  23. @KLEVA hi, long time sorted. Imported my own for half of the price.
  24. Dixon batteries. You can give them a call.
