If the battery BMS is a proper one it should stop accepting charge if there is a risk of overcharging.

Ecco 3.5kva inverter
TBH - my experience with Ecco is that it is a cheap and nasty brand mostly found at the various China Malls and Pakistani/Indian cellphone accessory shops here in JHB. I personally wouldn't recommend it to anyone I like đ - I sincerely doubt whether the 5 year warranty is going to be worth the paper its wrtitten on. What is the value of a warranty if there is no one in the country to actually act on a warranty claim. Leroy Merlin might list it on their website but I have found that they also have a market place program like Takealot where third parties can sell their goods online through their website. Leroy Merlin/Takealot only acts as a channel to sell through.

ESKOM's own goal - We all saw this coming :)
Saw this coming ages ago...the people that actually pay for their electricity, a lot of them will have the financial means or have access to credit to go solar thereby massively reducing the only consumer revenue line that ESKOM has. Business has also gone this route in a big way so I wonder if you add that into the equasion how the figure of installed solar will look?

SNMP on hybrid inverters
I don't know of a domestic inverter that supports SNMP. SolarAssistant supports MQTT which allows you to pull telemtry from the inverter and display it in something like Home Assistant if the graphs you receive in SolarAssistant isnt enough for you. www.solar-asstant.io

JoJo Water Backup - How is it used?
So I am very uninformed when it comes to plumbing LOL đ in the auto scenario - how does the water consumption end only use the mains supply when it is there - how does the water not flow from the tank automatically? Sorry if the question is unclear - not sure how to explain what I am asking đ Is it a function of the pumpthat detects it needs to pump when the mains supply is down? I understand the second scenario đ

JoJo Water Backup - How is it used?
Hi all I am in the process of installing a JoJo tank for water backup in the case of municpal outages. Just wanted to check though - under normal circumstances where there is muicipal supply, does a person run the house water from the tank all the time - ie. as you use water the tank refills itself via the float valve. Or is it a situation where you switch the water supply to the tank when the municipal feed is not there? Ie use it for backup ONLY? I see JoJo reckons you should wash the car or fill the pool everytwo weeks or so with the water in the tank in order to refill with clean water again. I assume this is for where it is used as backup only, as in my first scenario above you would be refilling it continiously. I am installing an under counter water purification system in the kitchen. I also havea fridge connected to water supply with a filter. So enough to sort out the odd glass of water. We never drink out of the taps in the bathrooms. Specs: 5000L tank with a 0.75w pump. Cheers Douw

ESP and home assistant.
You need to set up a port forward to the static internal IP on your router.

Specs look similar on the surface - one is rack mount the other wall mounted - Same manufacturer so good chance they will work - but cannot give a definitive yes.

Solar drop off - what could be the cause?
HI all My mate has 10 x 550 Jinko Bificial Panels hooked up in series to a Kodak OG-10. Inverter specs are: Panels are: We got this strange solar behaviour this morning in bright sunshine - there may be a bot of shading in the morning from some trees as well as a small chimney - could this be the issue? Any other ideas as to what could be the cause perhaps? There was load on th einverter from the house and the batteries were charging.

Cutting existing granite top in Kitchen
Hi all I have an electric hob installed in my kitchen at the moment. Unfortunately when they fitted it years ago the granote cut-out was made "nommer pas" so now that I want to go gas I cannot find a hob that will fit - they are all about 10mm larger. Can the existing piece of granite be cut/grinded slightly large to fit the new hob? If so how is this done? Cheers Douw

Batteries with different voltages 48v + 51.2v - SOC solution
Thank you for the comprehensive answer Justin. What you describe is pretty much how I set up the inverter for him and what he is experiencing. But ja as you say in the long run it will give problems...

Batteries with different voltages 48v + 51.2v - SOC solution
Original post link in opening post explains the issues with his "supplier". Anyway it's not as simple as it sounds it seems to remove the cell. I guess schoolfees for him unfortunately.

Batteries with different voltages 48v + 51.2v - SOC solution
I am starting to lean very much in the direction of suggesting we just do this for him. I doubt he is going to have any warranty any based on the fact that the guy who supplied is a schyster anyway. Is it then simply a case of disconnecting cell 16 and removing it? The BMS's look identical if the display is anything to go by

BSL Bull Battery Query
Can confirm that Dyness BX51100 works with the Mecer Axpert units over RS-485
-
Batteries with different voltages 48v + 51.2v - SOC solution
No to clarify: Both are LiFePo4 chemistry 1 x 51.2v (16 cell) 1 x 48v (15 cell) Its just that the 48 volt has the same BMS but shows cell 16 as 0.0v - so it only has 15 cells.
