July 17, 20224 yr My neighbour recently installed a Sunsynk inverter and having a look at his app, there is something not making sense. He is using maximum PV power for the whole day and I see there is Feed-on power of 8.7kwh which I can't seem to see where it is going. He has not used anything on the non-essential side and all I can think of is that it is going back into the grid?
July 18, 20224 yr The penalties are quite severe, get him to change that asap and set it to zero export and do not tick the sell option. Some prepaid meters will simply bill you for the energy exported too, so he will end up paying double for power. You are better off dumping the excess power into a geyser as warm water

July 18, 20224 yr If the meter is one of the old ones, exporting to grid will work fine and the meter will turn in reverse. But as iiznh says some meters will turn forwards instead of reverse, charging you for exporting to grid. Just Check with his installer
July 18, 20224 yr Author I will let him contact his installer. I had a look at the meter: It is not a prepaid meter and it is an electronic one.

Even if the meter is one of the old ones with the disk (some of them have reverse direction blocking and get stuck) you are not allowed to export, paying the penalty/fine will kill the ROI of you whole install.

I know many people feeding back in to the grid. I don't know anyone who has ever been fined for this.

Perhaps this also applies to corruption. Join the queue😜😜 There are indeed people that lost all their PV equipment after being caught. Not worth the risk. Edited July 18, 20224 yr by Scorp007
July 23, 20224 yr Author Did some screenshots of my neighbours' Deye inverter settings. Is the settings correct to NOT export to grid, but only to the non-essentials? Sometimes it shows "buy" and sometimes "sell". Also CT coil value goes positive / negative. Deye 8kw, Shoto batteries, Some loads on inverter output, and others on eskom. CT installed at incoming eskom line as it enters house. Meter in street.

October 1, 20223 yr Author Hi guys. Finally got to chaning the settings: Ticked zero export to CT and untick sell solar, but the grid power then went to something like 7.5kw. Switched it back before I could take a photo. I have a suspicious that the CT coil is wrong way round. When exporting to the grid, the CT value is a positive value. Is that correct? or must it be negative? Here is a screenshot taken today with the power definitely going back into the grid. Switching non-essentials on, the CT value goes down, but still positive. Don't want to stuff something up. (Can a wrong setting do something bad or will the Deye protect itself.) Anyone have a screenshot of this page to compare?
