New Hubble Lithium Batteries AM-2 PLUS, AM-5 5.12kWh & AM-10 10kWh

This reeks of a rebadged/repackaged AM-2. The AM-2 with the new firmware as a new product as they couldn't continue to sell their 5,5kW AM-2 with stated 110A/h that was then reduced to 100A/h after the Firmware update.

Interesting. I see they removed the Growatt Inverter guide from their revamped site.
Probably need a new Li  Protocol to be added to the Growatt Firmware for this "new" Battery range.

I cannot disagree. Mine has provided me with the promised delivery up to now. Haven't had a single issue. No Firmware update needed as it does exactly what the specs said.

I have an AM-2. Would I be able to buy and AM5 or AM10 and link it into my installation?

The AM-2 seems to have been replaced by the AM-2 Revision2 and I suspect that still has the same chemistry, but it also now boasts 116A/h instead of the 110A/h that the original AM-2 had. So one can assume they changed the firmware again after the last Firmwares which reduced the 110A/h of the AM-2 to 105 or 100A/h.
Best to ask Hubble if the Revision 2 can be paralleled with the original AM-2. Maybe the original can be flashed to the same Firmware that they envisage for the Revision 2

Good day guys,

Ive ordered the AM-5 and awaiting delivery.

What i really like about it is the 10 year unlimited cycle warranty and one can see that its first life cells as its rated for 6000 cycles. 10 years does indicate their confidence in the battery and their commitment. ( i get worried when i see 3 years only). Also has a 1C rating

When i have mentioned this to installers i get a very half hazardous look and also "are you sure, 10 years". In my mind it might be

1) They had bad experiences with old hubble batteries and for that reason they developed a bad taste

2) They have a affiliate program with other brands. One always talks bad about the other

That is why i love the forum because i want to reach out to you guys, Does anyone have some feedback on these, should i return it for a refund or should i use it and block the haters ?

You are an early adopter of a new range. Only time will tell how many problems creep up.
Use your battery and report back your experience, good or bad.
Guarantees are part of marketing. The proof will always be in how the company handles a claim. The fine print, especially with Batteries, is plastered with provisos that are there to protect the company not the consumer, and they have so many clauses that the companies can basically nullify most claims if they so desire.

And don't see those that had a bad experience as haters. There will always be the "Toyota" crowd that believe only their purchase decision is valid and all others should have their head's read, get rid of whatever they have as it has been deemed inferior in their minds. They wish to have a Monopoly world with one product only it seems. 😇

The BMS only has a 2 year warranty, and the BMS is likely the weakest part of the battery. So while you have a 10 year unlimited cycle warranty on the cells, that does not really help is the BMS breaks in year 3.

They also don't allow 3rd party devices to connect to their RS458 and RS232 ports, this voids the warranty. So no Solar Assitant. Seems rather stupid from them to do this.

Unless they stop the "read" ability by some sort of clever authentication, There is no way to see if someone is reading the data.
This may well be that they have blocked the "write" function to stop anything else but their own hardware to make changes, i.e. firmware upgrades. You are right, they wish to fence themselves off as if to protect a product where the problem is not related to the use case but rather an inherent BMS issue.
I'll use my battery for as long as it performs, which in my case, touch wood, has been the case.
I have shelved the idea of paralleling another though and am considering many other options to eventually increase my storage capacity.

I dropped of one of my AM-2 batteries at hubble in the week for damaged cells. I mentioned in one of my mails to them that i can see an issue with the SOH of the one battery via PBMSTools. They told me to refrain from using PBMSTools as it may void my warranty. Guess what software they use to read the battery?

We just had the hubble am-5 installed. Not working yet. We are using the victron inverter. Basically, we needed to do a firmware update on the battery. You need their Rs232 cable, you are not provided with one. Waiting for that still. Then you NEED (not optional as they would state, cloudlink with Victron GX to even try and connect the two together.) Reset button on our brand new Battery is missing. Phone them about it,.. was asked why would I want it??? Well why would you provide one then in the first place!!! The issues with this battery is just piling up and it seems that they really make it difficult to assist clients afterwards. Were looking for the cloudlink, phoned them about that as well. Was told they don't have any in the country and that is just jow it is!! So wait... you sell a battery that needs the cloudlink to make it work with Victron and then you say it is just what it is.... how the battery perform I can't speak about yet but, looking at they current things that have happened I do not have high hopes in this product. Shit rapped in a nice rapping if you ask me.

I have the AM-5, working great so far. Was a bit of an issue to get the inverter (Deye 5.5kW) to talk to the battery. Had to cut the extra wires that are not used from an old ethernet cable, then it finally started to communicate.

Good day

Is there a conract number for Hubble customer/technical services?

I have a Deye 5kw inverter connected with a Hubble AM5 lithium battery.

I've had it 1 week, running only at load shedding times (fridge, freezer, TV, few lights and a computer).

I noticed on the Deye interface that when loadshedding ends, the battery icon is utilizing more power from the grid.

Is the battery charging? Why is the battery draining more than a week ago?
