Sc00bs
Hi Guys I managed to score a heat pump for my pool from one of my friends who had it lying around. It is an Aquatemp FT12KS and the manufacturers don't seem to be in business any more. Connected it all up and runs 100% when my inverter is attached to the grid (Sunsynk 8Kw) . It pulls a load of 2.2Kw and has a Copeland Compressor - Model ZR28K3-PFJ-522 installed. The strange thing is that the heatpump will not run when the grid is down. If the grid goes down it stops working and will not switch on again until we attach to the grid again. You can hear the compressor trying to start but immediately stops again. I have tried reducing the load on the inverter as much as possible but no joy. Any Ideas?
GreenFields
What battery are you using, and can it handle the startup current that is possibly normally carried by the passthrough from the grid?
TaliaB
It has LRA of 61 amps it needs 61 amps to start runs at 6.5 amps

Or 4. TaliaB and CobusK 1

That is pretty much what I thought. I have 2 x BSL 6.4kw 125A each - 250A total. Don't get any error on the inverter, the heat-pump just doesn't work. Sidewinder
My HP (ALLWH72R410) uses 2.75 kW when running, and no problems. Wired on Essentials! (with digital timer). For my 2 geysers in the house, not for a pool, though.
Dylan
Perhaps HF inverters?
Jakac
it needs 14kw to start. you will need 300A from battery to start it. The BMS is cutting the power. You probably need 20kw of battery bank
Bobster.
It has LRA of 61 amps it needs 61 amps to start runs at 6.5 amps That's huge. My main breaker is 60A. I presume that the 61 is for a millisecond or two.
TaliaB
Yes very short period but causes serious inrush.
