Posted September 11, 20186 yr hello everyone i have decided to update my 5KVA-48 unit as the picture . Power : 5KVA/4KW AC charge : 60A max SCC : 80A SO what is the most stable Firmware for this model to both Main and SCC? thanks in advance !
September 11, 20186 yr @Coulomb mentioned a new firmware for 5kW Axperts that he has released (with the last week or two). He has removed the charging bug.

It has all the features of previous patches, and it is based on 73.00 which has the backwards compatibility code to parallel with various other firmwares if needed. [ Edit: The underlined text is wrong; I was thinking of 72.70, which is the one that lets you parallel with 5 kW (PF1) models if needed. Also, patched firmware have to be paralleled with patched firmware; see my parallel compatibility post. ] 73.00e has code to work with SCC firmware versions 1.24, 4.00, and 4.10. So it's not recommended to update the SCC firmware. As a point of interest, what are your existing firmware revisions, main and SCC? Looking at the sticker, it looks genuine, though I'm used to seeing "Made in China" at the bottom. Yours has "Taiwan Technology". [ Edit: some don't have anything at the very bottom. ] I don't recall seeing that before. Are you confident that it's made by Voltronic Power, and is not a clone? [ Edit: does it have the date sticker over a front panel screw near the sicker shown above? ] [ Edit: 73.00c -> 73.00e, it's just the latest version as of January 2019, when I had to edit for other reasons. ] Edited January 5, 20196 yr by Coulomb

Quote [ Edit: does it have the date sticker over a front panel screw near the sicker shown above? ] Yes, Of course the date is 1/2017. i saw new versions but with pf=1 has firmware 74.10 and higher and i thought it would be good upgrade . thanks of advice @Coulomb @Chris Hobson
September 12, 20186 yr Author about Stickers , when we order full container the factory ask if you have any modification on stickers and colors (as you had OEM) , So anyone can change it when he order wholesale qtys. China version is also from voltroinc power but from china manufacture .

Higher version numbers don't necessarily mean more recent, e.g. 72.20 is more recent than 72.70, and is for different hardware. Sadly also, the same version number doesn't necessarily mean the same functionality (e.g. I believe that there is an old 5 kVA firmware and a more recent 4 kVA firmware that both have the version number 52.30). As far as I know, there really is a difference in the hardware with the PF1.0 models. So I don't think you can safely get 5 kW from a 4 kW / 5 kVA machine by upgrading firmware. I'd love to know for sure, however.
September 29, 20186 yr May I ask which firmware is recommended for MKS II 5k 5000VA/ 5000W? @Coulomb Edited September 29, 20186 yr by Omarsz

I'm not aware of any firmware update files for any of those models, so there is no patched firmware. If you can find a firmware update file for your model, then Weber and I can patch fixes for the charge bugs. Edit: there is a small chance it uses the same firmware as other models, and those firmwares might be available for patching, or already be patched. What main firmware does it come with at present, or haven't you bought one as yet? Edited September 29, 20186 yr by Coulomb

Thanks for the prompt reply Coulomb :)

Weber and I are on record as stating that we'll attempt to patch at least the premature float bug on any firmware related to the PIP-4048 (excluding grid feed inverters and hybrids), but we need a manufacturer supplied firmware update file to work from. Your Axpert MKS II 5kVA qualifies, so keep an eye out for firmware with a version number of 71.XX. [ Edit: linked to the "on record" post. ] Edited September 29, 20186 yr by Coulomb
December 29, 20195 yr @Coulomb I have searched fruitlessly and asked for an upgraded firmware for this inverter. I have noticed on the AEVA forums you are active with firmware development and other subjects. Please tell me if you can recommend the upgraded firmware for my inverter, the details on the photographs? I have checked and confirmed that this is a proper Voltronic inverter and not a clone as per some of your other posts on the AEVA forum Mine has the premature floating charge issue and I want to sort that out. I might add that otherwise this inverter has performed flawlessly since April. Thank you! Edited December 29, 20195 yr by Sass Incorrect attachments

January 10, 20205 yr Hi, I want to upgrade the firmware on my inverter that was sold as an Axpert since I suspect it's not charging correctly - seems to misinterpret battery SOC and switching to float too early. I've been going through the various posts on upgrading and there appear to be so many different models as well as the possibility that mine could be a clone. I'd really appreciate assistance with identifying my model and recommending the best firmware version to upgrade to. Thanks in advance!
January 10, 20205 yr @Coulomb Am I correct to say this Axpert is fitted with a PWM charge controller . The 36Vdc min volt and 105 Vdc max volts .

Yes, the classic premature float bug. Quote I've been going through the various posts on upgrading and there appear to be so many different models as well as the possibility that mine could be a clone. It looks pretty genuine, and was made just before the first clones came out in late 2015. Quote I'd really appreciate assistance with identifying my model and recommending the best firmware version to upgrade to. Unfortunately, yours is a PWM model, which is much less common, and I don't know of any PWM firmwares (I thought I had one, but can't find it now). Unfortunately, the manufacturer is in denial about the premature float bugs, and hasn't fixed it in even the most recent firmwares. [ Edit: I found the PWM firmware I have; it's version 12.30, so it doesn't seem compatible, even though it's also for a 5 kVA PF0.8 machine. ] [ Edit 2: Version 12.30 is possibly the PWM equivalent of MPPT firmware 52.30, which was in use until 72.40 replaced it in the MPPT model series. So that's not too bad, though the fan behaviour might be annoying. It would still have to be patched for the premature float bug. ] Your best option would be to use an external solar charge controller, either MPPT or PWM depending on how your panels are configured.
