  • Apologies, you are technically correct. but for the price of blue nova...Who can afford a second unit anyway, One can survive on a single Kidney, but no kidneys...it's gonna be a bumpy ride

  • 4.4KWh from something the size of a 10 cent coin...pity it takes 5000 years to release that power...And you have to build a house made of lead :)...

i note they will be available from 16 november and will be able to plug into parallel with existing pylontech 2000 units

That will make it quite unique, and very very useful. Especially for upgrade purposes.

2x of these 3.5kw jobbies will basically match a Tesla powerwall for half the price.

In any event, these units will be a serious contender to replace lead-acid. Like for like (Price per KWh) they are in the same ball-park, especially when comparing 70% SOC to 80% DOD. And less worries about balancing and monitoring.

Weeellll, if you want to get technical about it BlueNova beat them by a few weeks on that score with the ability to parallel different capacities. But far as I know these are the only two batteries on our market than can do this (so far).

I was at a Solar Shop yesterday , where else will one go if you are at the groot dorp :) , and the guy was telling me how good the Blue Nova Li_ion is with 10 years and all that. Now obviously I wanted to know what his thoughts were on other tech so asked him about the Pylontech , his immediate response was that they are telecom backup batts.

Any thoughts on his opinion?

On a flight into dark Africa about a year ago I had a chat with a (insert big word title) "mining/mineral expert" , specializing in battery tech research in Africa, around this exact topic.

He stated that telecoms are starting to replace with Lithium batt banks, because they don't have that much maintenance, and because it doesn't get stolen from cell towers as there is no recycle value to lithium currently. It's apparently not easy to recycle, and because there is a LOT of lithium resources, we won't run out soon so just use raw materials,  So the local scrap yard has no use for the batteries. There may be some high value metals in the mix, like Cobalt and Nickel, but this will possibly be removed completely in the next few years.

Now, imagine they manage to get diamond batteries into mainstream...

Well... let me put it this way. Pylontech is pushing really hard to get their battery certified to work with all sorts of inverters. Something which is a bit odd if they didn't intend to sell these to the home market. Also don't quite understand why you'd advertise the battery as having thousands of cycles if the intent was just backup. Last, for backup batteries you want high discharge rates so you can get away with smaller capacity, ie for backup lithium you won't use LFP, you'd use another chemistry that can more comfortably do 2C. So none of the facts really fit the statement ;-)

It's entirely possible that they started out in one area either with the express plan of moving to another (or just accidentally ending up there) :-)

Rumour has it that South Africa's largest private medical aid started with medical aid because they eventually wanted to break into other kinds of insurance. Which they eventually did. Medical aid is quite different from the rest: It is mandated by law to be a mutual fund, a giant "stokvel". The real money is in the other kinds of insurance where you are actually allowed to make profit and pay dividends to investors... :-)

As a Discovery share holder I can confirm :P

How does Pylontech distribution work here?

Is there a main importer/distributor that the places we see online get stock from OR what we see online is those guys importing themselves?

I can't believe the non interest i've found in the last week of people not following up on a potential sale, I also see like R4k difference in price of 1 unit between 1 place to another.(that's ruling out the dodgiest one)

Looking for a resellers list so i might find someone with some go in them  - anyone know where i can find one?

Drop R200 by a robot here people would almost kill themselves to grab it, try spend 60K people can't be bothered following up - I find it insane

There are two official importers, that I know off from where people buy and resell.

Where are you based?

Ok thanks but i'm good now, Silver above helped me out - I give him an 11 out of 10 versus anyone else i tried to deal with.

Good to hear it's not all tied down to one company having rights to bring them in & hold prices up.

Hi Guys, great forum, I have learned much reading the conversations.

I am in the market for a US3000B to link up with my existing 4x US2000B Plus pack.

Noticed that @2una was helped out by @Silver.

I am in JHB (Roodepoort side) and can come and collect, payment via EFT.

I would love to hear if stock is available and pricing?

Thanks

Hi All,

Looking for the correct PV Master parameter settings for the PylonTech US3000B lithium please. The PV master app does not have US3000 as a option to select so Ive selected PYLON US2000Plusus*2 instead, any ideas ? Its connected to a Goodwe 5K/2.3kW Inverter. The BMS status in the app is "Battery communication failed"and I assume its because Ive selected PYLON US2000Plusus*2 instead of US3000Plus but this does not exist in the app ?

And to add to my post above, it seems Im running firmware version  03033 and the latest for Goodwe 5048 EM inverter is 15156, any idea where can I get the latest firmware ?
