August 15, 20205 yr Author and the other big annoyance is the portal often hangs so you can't check to see what your or your client's inverters are doing. for the last 90 minutes no info from the portal. There must be a way to monitor realtime, except for connecting directly to the wifi dongle with your phone and choosing local mode. On there you can see whats going on in real time and even change parameters. Some smart guy should be able to write software that can draw out those figures and make it available on pc.
August 15, 20205 yr Don't have the portal hanging issue. Mainly using the Solarman Smart app. I'm still waiting on the firmware update but decided to check the settings under local mode and found the always on setting under smart load. Turned it on and will monitor it over the weekend.
August 15, 20205 yr Author Cool, yeah had to log into it that way also this morning, portal only came back online around 10:30. I think they have internet issues or server issues. Its a generic portal that a lot of inverter manufacturers use. If only sunsynk went their own way and used a seperate system it might have worked better, but it seems everything is outsourced. The guys doing the firmware either have no clue or don't understand what the issue is.

Connect your phone to the data logger's WiFi AP then it will connect directly to the logger.
August 15, 20205 yr Author @HeindsYou do it on your phone with the solarmanPro app. Open it, tap all and LocalMode should be on the bottom. Use the box the wifi dongle came in or the wifi dongle itself and scan the QR code and connect to the dongle's AP. From there you have access to it.
August 15, 20205 yr Author Anyone else having issues where the inverter does not show SOC properly? My batteries are at 48.5V yet SOC shows 100%. 4x Pylontech, all dipswitches set to 0 and connected to RS485.

I then decided to do another test. I set the aux off and start percentages both to zero. I now noticed that it does restart but very, very quickly. Too quick for the Geyserwise to notice but my aircon just gives a beep now which makes me think it might be an issue with the battery and how the BMS communicates its SOC to the inverter. The smart load is still monitoring the battery SOC even when set to always on to determine when it should switch on or off. The pylontech bms might just be losing connection briefly and then the smart load resets. Obviously setting the smart load start and off to zero does not help as I don't want my aux loads to run when the battery is below 35% as my 3kw geyser element will deplete 15% within an hour putting my battery at 20% SOC.

August 15, 20205 yr Author @AchmatBut does that not limit what you can see on the batteries? Can only shows the bank as a whole... Not individually.. Not that I would make any real difference once they balance each other out.. But does it show proper SOC at the moment using CAN?

Yes it does but I'm ok with the BMS managing the individual batteries in the bank. With CAN, the BMS now also limits charge and discharge rates based on SOC instead of the inverter controlling charge and discharge rates. I have 3 x 3.5kw pylontech batteries so max charge and discharge rate the BMS sets 111A. In the screenshot you can see that the BMS is now limiting the charge current to only 22A as the battery is above 95%.

August 15, 20205 yr Author @AchmatOk, changed to CAN and it seems to handle the batteries better. SOC is showing properly now.
August 15, 20205 yr So none of the settings seems to resolve the restarting issue and I don't think the firmware update will fix it. Going to get my electrician in next week to move the aux loads to the normal load output. Was going to eventually use the aux load for some micro inverters in any case so resolving the aux issue is not a high priority for me right now.

August 15, 20205 yr @Johann1982 Did you do the earth bond on the sunsynk inverter? I haven't done one in mine yet.
August 16, 20205 yr Author @AchmatNo, didn't do earth bond as I have tested it as is and even in off-grid mode my ELU's work. I think it does an internal bond also, the relay with the earth bond is just an extra precaution.
