I can't test as I've already moved my aux loads over to the main load output of the inverter.
August 17, 20205 yr Brilliant. It would be difficult for me to monitor restarts as I only had a Geyserwise and two aircons connected so will not know of any restarts unless I am home at the time it happens. With your mining rigs on the aux output would be fairly easy for you to monitor the status of your aux output even if you are not home.
August 17, 20205 yr Author Yeah, I open the windows system logs then I can check for unscheduled restarts. None so far. I leave team viewer open on my work pc so that I can check if it goes down.
August 18, 20205 yr Author Ok, so had 3 restarts in a 24 hour period. I adjusted the Hz to max high and max low to further troubleshoot.
August 18, 20205 yr Author Ok, so just spoke to one of the better informed people at Sunsynk. Aux and Input binds internally when grid connection is available, so it exports grid to aux. When the mains goes off it disconnects and reconnects via DC bus. That is why there is a 5 second delay. So whenever the grid connection drops out of sync with mains the aux reboots. So it is either a sensitivity setting or the grid is too unstable.
August 18, 20205 yr Good investigation which brings us back to the Eskom supply being the issue more so than the inverter aux settings even though they could make some improvements to it.

August 18, 20205 yr Author @FixAMessI'm in Hermanus. Eskom isn't as bad, I just think the inverter is set too sensitive. Or a sudden change in frequency is too much for the inverter then it stops the feed to Aux.

No too far from me and agreed that the inverter might just be too sensitive to any sudden frequency changes to the grid.

One of the Sunsynk manuals specifically states you will read 110v with a floating neutral unless resolved with a relay. My load output neutral earth measured +- 50V when in island mode but this was resolved when I installed a relay. The 50V gave me a little bite when touched. Surprisingly my E/L did trip when you press the test button without relay installed but I was told that is not a reliable test for safe functioning. The Sunsynk definitely does not have an internal relay doing the bonding job like a Victron. I bought a R100 40A NO relay from ACDC. It is so small I fixed it with cable ties inside the inverter. As you know there is a lot of space inside once you open the front cover.

Hi Johan, in passing the other Johan from Centurion Solar mentioned to me he was trying to retrieve the communication protocol from Sunsynk. I suppose Centurionsolar is thinking about running the Sunsynk on the ICC solar software. This should enable real time view and control like it can on the Mecer/Axeprts, however I do not see any reason Sunsynk cant hook up a better solution themselves.

August 20, 20205 yr Good question. I think one would be enough but to be honest I am not sure. Check the manual page 9, they have a circuit block diagram showing how the AC and DC bus are set up. Including the grid, Gen, load outputs with relays diagrams.

When connected to grid the voltage between earth and neutral is fine. When grid falls away the voltage difference is bad. So in island mode does this solve this problem? My thinking was to install relay onto grid, if grid falls away then connect neutral to earth through the relay. thanks for your comment.

Hi Werner, the only way to solve the problem is with a power relay linking load output neutral and earth when grid falls away and vice versa. The inverter emits a voltage signal to switch the relay on and off. To use this signal you have to have the latest firmware installed on the machine and check the box in settings for island mode signal. Refer to the latest Sunsynk manual. It shows how to wire and setup correctly.
