August 22, 20205 yr Author @AchmatWell, since 5:45 this morning I am running on V3.8.7.0 which has been modified to remove the 5 second delay on the smart load. So hopefully it will stay on now. Will keep you posted.

August 22, 20205 yr Author Did a test and tripped mains, all loads stayed on without even a dip. So smart load is now also like UPS output. Just hope the smartload stays on without the reboot issue.
August 22, 20205 yr Author Still having reboot issues. Smart load just went off again for 5 seconds. There must be a way to access the working logs on this inverter to check what may have caused the smart load to reboot.

Stupid question, but why is this required and how would you know if you require this as i see in the manual that this is optional as not all installations require this?

When the mains go out and inverter is in off-grid mode your neutral to earth bond no longer exist. So you have to use a relay to bond your output earth and neutral once the mains connection is no longer available.
August 23, 20205 yr Thanks Johan, yes exactly. To my knowledge it is a SANS "RSA electrical code" safety requirement. Search this forum on the subject to learn more. There are quite a few discussion strings on earth neutral bonding etc.

The inverter emits a voltage signal to switch the relay on and off. To use this signal you have to have the latest firmware installed on the machine and check the box in settings for island mode signal. Refer to the latest Sunsynk manual. It shows how to wire and setup correctly. Thanks for your replay. It is now clear how to do. Also saw it in the regulations that this must be done and tested during power outage and the potensial between earth and nuatral was high.
August 24, 20205 yr Problem is that the Sunsynk inverters purchased 6-12 months ago doesn't have the ATS port (confirmed with Keith from Sunsynk). Is there another solution to create the earth bond?

Is there another solution to create the earth bond? Hi Heinds, yes you can. The best solution is to use a time on delay power relay. This is what I was using together with an Axpert earthing relay box before the software on the inverter was updated. The coil in the time on delay relay senses if you have Eskom gird. When AC lost it signals the earthing box to connect earth and neutral. When grid comes back it waits 60 seconds to unlink earth neutral coinciding with the moment the inverter reconnects grid (as you may know the default time a hybrid inverter takes to reconnect to grid once power restored is 60 seconds). Long story short I have this relay setup spare if want it.

The mains opens the contactor and breaks the Neutral Earth bond on output side and when mains go out it closes again and makes the bond.

Mainly using the Solarman Smart app. I'm still waiting on the firmware update but decided to check the settings under local mode and found the always on setting under smart load. August 26, 20205 yr Author Ok, so I am on a whatsapp chat group with the manufacturers and programmers for Sunsynk. Anyone having the issue with smart load rebooting, send me a direct message so that I can add you to the group for troubleshooting.

If I didn't already remove my loads from the aux I would have joined. Good luck with trying to get this resolved. Will follow in case I need to use the aux as an output in future.

You need to select local mode and then scan the data logger. Changing settings only works when you are directly connected to the WiFi of the logger.

Haven't yet had load shedding since the installation. @Johann1982 Just had my electrician in and moved all the loads on the aux to the normal load output of the inverter. I also changed the settings of the aux to micro inverter input. The animation on the Solarman app has changed to show this even though there is no micro inverter connected yet. which version of what solarman app is this ?
