It will turn on for 2 hours but it seems the long press doesn't work anymore. Must have been removed with the newest firmware.
March 7, 20215 yr Finally getting to test my SMART LOAD function, set the solar load at 2200 watts ( 2 kw geyser and average 200 watt household loads ), the day started out as partly cloudy and the SMART LOAD switched on and off as the sun moved in and out from behind the clouds, then the sky became totally cloudy/drizzly, I switched the ON ALWAYS ON GRID function ( grid is available ), inverter draws power from solar and battery, NOT from grid, as I originally thought, AND did not stop at the preset cut off percentage on the AUX screen, I had to untick TIME OF USE, then only did the inverter draw from solar and the balance from the grid. This experiment was conducted with grid available
March 10, 20215 yr Thanks for all trhe interesting info. I am wanting to install 8KW Deye/Sunsynk hybrid in OFF-GRID system, and would like to use the generator port for smart loads (water heater). However, I would also like to install more solar with a suitable micro-inverter (ie has freq shift and derating). Can this be adone? In other words, can one use the generator port for smart load AND at the same time also AC couple additional microinverters either to generator port or battery out/UPS port?

It can only be used in one way. Either generator or micro inverter but not both. If it's off grid with no incoming Eskom supply then you can use the grid input as a generator input and the aux for micro inverter.

March 10, 20215 yr Thanks Achmat for confirming its not possible to do both! Looking at info I still dont understand why the genertor port (aux port as you better call it) cant be used for the Smart load function and the AC coupling of microinverter connected on the battery UPS output (since its bi-directional inverter I believe). Looks like you cant have both as shown in the manual diagrams of settings, but is this a software or hardware limitation?
March 10, 20215 yr That makes sense...but: The generator port is not only an input- thats why its called auxillary (aux). Aux port can be used for smart loads (loads only on when battery full or at specific percentage). Then I also noted that AC coupling to the batttery ouput/UPS is possible so this port is also not only and output!. However, using the UPS output as input for microinverter somehow disdables use of the aux port. Hence my confusion!... Edited March 10, 20215 yr by proteapermaculture

March 12, 20215 yr So I have a friend that could not wait to get his Axpert replaced with a Deye unit. Now after a week he calls me in to help. Unit switches off when grid fails. So I went a had a look. Man, what a ballsup... So the "sparky" decided to wire the two Neutral terminal together, thus saving 2m of black wire. When mains fails, the unit still stays on and shows 230V on the output, but measuring shows Zero volts. I suspect the relay card failed? Would this be expensive to replace?

March 17, 20215 yr HI I had a Synsynk 8 for about 15 months and then got a direct lightning hit on the lamp pole outside the house which took it out. I was absolutely satisfied with the old one and it did everything as expected. Got a new one now and things are funny. I have split the loads into essential and non essential. Essential on the UPS side and non essential on the grid side. The problem is that the power does not add up. Often the sun would provide say 3kw. The essential would take 1 kw and the battery is full so 2kw is available to non essential and the flow diagram shows the 2 kw flowing to non-essential. The problem is when all non essential loads are disconnected, it still shows the 2kw flowing to them. So where is this power going. I have clicked to the zero export, so nothing is suppose to flow to the grid. The end results is that during the day all the available power is used and my usage curve follows the production curve exactly. The exact same setup worked perfectly with my previous unit. I have not done the ground/neutral bond. Regards Attie

If the inverter is pushing back to the meter it would trip if its a prepaid meter or worse, charge you for sending power back. Reading your post again and I think your CT is on the wrong wire. It should be on the live incoming line immediately after the municipal meter.

March 18, 20215 yr HI Guys Thanks for all the replies. So yes my non essentials are on the grid side. So if I switch off the Eskom incoming, then it recognizes no grid and only supply the essentials. So this correct. I only have 2 geyser and the stove on the grid side. So if I switch those breakers off, it means there is now no grid side load. The inverter then still shows on the flow diagram power flowing to the little house next to the power lines. I changed nothing when the new inverter was installed, did not move the CT coil or nothing. Just installed the new inverter, so the only possibility for error regarding the CT coil is wires wrong way round. I have a prepaid meter and it does not complain or anything when I export to the grid. With the old inverter, you could clearly see that the grid side loads absorbing power or not as the trip switches to those loads were opened and closed. Here I see nothing. Regards Attie

Regards Attie If the grid is down and it still shows electricity going to the non essential side then your CT is located on the wrong wire. Even though you do say nothing was changed since the new installation I do think the CT was moved in this process. I would physically go and make sure that the CT is installed at the right location.
