September 26, 20169 yr I have a question. Why don't we all use large wattage panels. Mounting costs are less and the volts are higher. Asked the questions once to a solar company. The guy once reconed that they use 250w panels for it makes the maths are easier ... I laughed and laughed. So I am wonder, should I have gone 260w / 250w panels or was the call to go 300w+ panels better? What do you guys recon?

September 26, 20169 yr Nooooo - I am asking a question, why are there so many different wattage panels out there? Nothing meant, implied or inferred. Just a simple question. Let me rephrase, is it better to go 250w or 315w panels? If so, why? Ps. IF I wanted to buy now, and I am very tempted, I would buy 315w panels, min 305w. Why? Higher voltages for MPPT's and less mounting structure.
September 26, 20169 yr I'm with TTT on this. Perhaps members have appetite for >305W panels as a groupbuy from GCS? Would GCS extend the current palet price to the bigger panels?. Damn, I'm tempted for 15 panels. 260W panels would be like coming 4th in the Olympics!
September 26, 20169 yr I would prefer the 305W as they are closer to my 300W array, but 260W is also OK. Both prices are excellent as a group buy, much cheaper than normal retail prices.

Bought the panels years ago, the bigger the better I reasoned till it came to controllers. What a mission it was to make them fit. Today it is not an issue anymore but I have to go 150v controllers = more expensive. Flip side to that, now I can add more strings of 3 x 300+w panels = less mounting. Flip side, I am so never going to be able to even try a Axpert. If a connection of a connection comes through, and the sums add up and there are no pitfalls, and the cost are possible, I would like to see if the micro inverters (done legally) can do the job for me, panel for panel, using 300+w panels. So @Energy, maybe we talk about this special of yours, them 315w ones. Reasoning behind micro inverters (if they do work as advertised) is that after a lot of thought re. powering the house as a lot of you do, pumps, geyser, vacuum cleaner, oven, and all that ... I do not want one or more large inverters powering the house. I want something that you can add on with milk money (x2), feeds into DB board and be done, one panel at a time. And if one micro inverter fails, gmpf, so what, get another one, milk money, and move on. So I REALLY hope it is going to work as advertised.
