Sunsynk - combining grid and DC power and directing to load output only
Yes By "Load" do you mean load only? If so No. You can't stop the inverter from supplying non essential from battery.

Buying batteries vs using the grid
Yeah the owner of LBSA confirmed that the BMS doesn't calculate cycles properly on one of the threads here. It would be nice to accurately calculate the cycle count but does it really matter considering warranty is based on years instead of cycle count? I don't know

Querying WiFi Solarman dongle
i don't know now. Mine just worked, maybe some other clever people will be able to help

Querying WiFi Solarman dongle
have you used the serial number of the dongle? the one with 176xxxxx?

Querying WiFi Solarman dongle
I changed the script a bit to display the information i needed. You will need to change the config.cfg to put your inverter's ip address and serial number. I used mqqt for sometime but it wasn't working properly so i just display results in terminal. On my raspberry pi, i just run the below: python ./InverterData.py Sunsynk.zip

Querying WiFi Solarman dongle
I have been able to get data from my inverter using the script. Had issues with using mqqt but I get the values on the command prompt.

Planned Synsynk 5k Install - Questions re GRID/LOAD/AUX Connections
I have the same inverter, the whole house is on load except underfloor heating on grid and geyser on aux. Inverter trips sometimes if too many things are on at the same time. I can live with it.
-
Off grid Sunsynk
I think you should use the aux port. I'm not sure how that would work on paralleled inverters. Maybe others who have connected gensets to Sunsynk inverters can help

Do you feel validated?
I'm a bit confused about your response, by validated i just mean that do you feel that the purchase was worth your money. Saving money in the long run is the ultimate goal but the convenience during load shedding is a huge plus for me.
-
Do you feel validated?
I usually suffer from buyer's remorse every time i buy something. I have had my system for about 6 months now and can't think of a better purchase that i have made. From my calculations it will take about 6 years for the system to pay itself. Not mentioning the convenience as well...

Do you feel validated?
With this bout of load shedding do you feel validated about your solar/backup installation?

Running 2nd life Revov Batteries with other 48V Batteries
Where did you get these from?

Running 2nd life Revov Batteries with other 48V Batteries
This is a significant saving. I was referring to the Revov 2nd life battery

Running 2nd life Revov Batteries with other 48V Batteries
I use this one and it's about R2k cheaper than the Revov one. I'm not sure if it will work well with the inverter you want. It's working well with my Sunsynk.

Running 2nd life Revov Batteries with other 48V Batteries
What made you settle for the 2nd life battery? Is it significantly cheaper than other new ones?

Advise needed to expand installation
I agree with the above suggestions. If you can't reduce the power usage during the night, the next best thing is to add another lithium battery and the solar panels if need be. The difference in price between the 3 gel batteries and 1 lithium batteries will probably be little.

Advise needed to expand installation
Are these batteries fully charged in the afternoon? What is using up most of the batteries at night?

Mecer sol-i-ax-5kp (Axpert King 48v) which Lithium battery is best
Have a look at this as well. I use it personally and it works well. https://lithiumbatteriessa.co.za/collections/built-units/products/lbsa-5-1kwh-48v-lifepo4-wall-mount-smart-battery

Everything you wanted to know about Heat Pumps
I don't have water underfloor heating system but I have an electric underfloor heating and also a heat pump that I run only on solar power. I can't imagine the installer is being completely honest in terms of the heat pump not being able to run on solar power, unless if he meant that since you would normally switch the underfloor on during the night, it will not be feasible using batteries. My electric underfloor heating goes up to 30degrees Celsius, if I had water heating, I reckon it would have been much cheaper just heating the water to around 30 degrees using a heat pump.

Sunsynk 5 kw Switching off with lightning ??
When my inverter was installed, i didn't have a battery and the inverter would shutdown every night but would wake up when there was solar power in the morning. Not an answer to your issue but just something i observed during that time. The house was connect on the grid side of the inverter.

Growatt BMS problem
Hi Bain, I have your battery and it's working well with my Sunsynk, i however "only" discharge it to 25% SOC. Is the above your general suggestion for the battery with coms?

Should I be "exercising" my battery regularly?
Most of the usage is late in the afternoon when the wife decides to use the oven๐.

Should I be "exercising" my battery regularly?
ooh nice, what's the size of your battery?
