  1. https://powerforum.co.za/topic/9586-smart-dc-switches-to-help-optimise-solar-production/
  2. That's good, at least it has been confirmed
  3. He has a video on YouTube about mppts that's where I heard him saying that.
  4. The inverter will just cap the power to the maximum it can take. The problem is over voltage. I don't think you need to anything fancy to avoid the 18a limit
  5. Mine is quite unresponsive, it was fixed for a few days by a software update but it's gone back to being unresponsive. Request for an update, maybe it will fix your issue.
  6. I did, measured the roof angle and orientation and today it was bang on. I'm impressed. Will see tomorrow
  7. thanks, i have added it and for today i said it under estimated by 2kwh. Will see tomorrow
  8. I wish i could do that. i'm afraid of heights so i don't go on top of the roof.
  9. thanks, when was the last time you cleaned them?
  10. A bit of a late reply but yes they are legit, bought panels and inverter from their Centurion branch.

  13. I started with the Sunsynk 5kw and 10*335W Canadian Solar panels. When I started looking at the Sunsynk I was under the impression that it can work without batteries for loadshedding during the day. After a bit of research, I realized that I it works as a grid tie when it doesn't have a battery. I initially wanted the Hubble battery because I was looking for a 1C battery that can "talk" to the inverter. Unfortunately they were out of stock everywhere and loadshedding had started. I considered the pylontech up5000 but I had to buy brackets and cables, so I ditched that idea and bought a LBSA 5.1kwh battery which I could mount to the wall without any additional hardware. I'm very happy with my setup so far. I produce an average of 15kwh each day and based on my calculations, I will need 6 years for the system to pay itself off, if I don't add other things.
  14. It's on essential
  15. I used to have that issue, i would just turn on the kettle for a minute and the smart load would kick in again.
  16. There you go.
  17. Will do tomorrow when the sun is up
  18. I have checked the scenario where the Smart Load is less than PV power. From the picture the battery is being charged at the same time
  19. So I watched the video again and you are right, he mentions that it uses battery not solar which is very confusing to me. This is what I have seen in the month or so of using the Smart Load. I guess my biggest confusion is the battery pass through part which I think is not possible.
  20. The battery just supplements the solar until the SOC drops below the set range. I don't see how power would pass through a battery, from my understanding the battery is either charging or discharging, (the battery has no input and output). So when smart load is on, it will drain the battery until the set SOC (if PV power gets below the set value in the AUX Load menu) and then switches off Smart Load. This is how i have seen it working and that's my understanding of the Smart Load
  21. yes, that's what i have noticed but it only runs down the battery if the smart load is greater than pv power.
  22. I don't think it's possible for the battery to charge and discharge at the same time.
  23. I was in the same boat when I started my solar journey, I ended up getting this https://lithiumbatteriessa.co.za/collections/built-units/products/lbsa-5-1kwh-48v-lifepo4-wall-mount-smart-battery I'm happy with it and have been using it for a month so far.

Just to provide an update on this. Support updated my inverter to e417 and from the little testing i did, the issue has been fixed. The menus are all responsive and i don't have to press more than once to change things
  25. phidz replied to Johann1982's topic in Inverters
The problem is in all menus but so much so in the system mode menu. Maybe because that's where I do most of the changes. I will however ask for the upgrade first because that's the easiest option
