  1. Can you see on the display that it actually does charge the battery from PV? If it does then it seems it is only the DC to AC output that is at fault. If the battery is below the timer setting which is active does it also not use grid to produce a AC on the output?
  2. Here are some members myself included that have been using the Epever MPPT solar controller with full lithium setting to charge batteries directly. They do have models that support up to 48V systems. I do however find the maximum PV input generally on the low side from a maximum voltage point as well as much lower in output than what we see on inverters. You can if 450W panels go to 22. The way of connecting will be like 2 strings of 5 in series and 2 in parallel. Then the 2nd MPPT is 6 in series and a 2nd string of 6 in parallel. This bring you to the 10.4kW maximum panels. You can also go 9 in series per MPPT but that is only 18 panels for 9kW of panels below the maximum allowed.
  3. I presume this happens when you don't have the timer active so that grid can be used when the battery drops to this low level. I make sure I have a timer switched on when using my kitchen equipment. As these high draw items can cause this if the battery is not in 100% shape. The drop should not happen even if your comms is not working and the inverter uses voltage based. You can however just do a check by selecting voltage for charging even if just when you switch on the kettle with timer active. I have a 51.8V level with timer on during the 17h to 21h period to prevent battery to be discharged real fast. Check on the screen if grid use does increase when the kettle is on.
  4. Can one blame the tree causing the more north to only start working from 09h00? The same reduction would cause a say east string with a tree shadow - not so? So many variables to consider that makes a huge difference between installations that can mostly if not at all times explain the reasons why yields differ big time.
  5. If one has enough storage or load during the day the north still gives a much higher yield as you suggested. 😀
  6. It means the current to each MPPT is high enough that you can have 2 parallel strings wired to the MPPT instead of using an external combiner box. You will then only use the combiner box to house the fuse, surge unit and isolator without paralleling. As you indicate. East and West then into the same MPPT. This can leave 2 x North string into the 2nd MPPT

  10. This is the correct statement. Life cycle of a lot of this are much shorter. Yes those 10-15 items might go on for many more years. There is a good reason why some appliance workshops don't even want to work on modern fridges🤔
  11. With a scope one will see the 50Hz power and superimposed on it the high freq noise signal. But then one must still find the source. This is perhaps why Eskom do not want to try and find the problem.
  12. The 2 kWh you used is the total Watts multiplied by the hours. 2000/12=166.66W on average and it accumulates the power used. If everything was switched off accept a 1 kW hotplate you need the hotplate to be only on for 2hrs. If a 500W load was used it impies it only has to be on for 4hrs. 2 fridges and some lights during the night can easily get you to the 2 kWh used. In my case from 0h to 06h30 my average is 1.7kWh
  13. My 2c worth would be it is not due to transformer or switchgear causing the high frequency. Frequency to my mind cannot be created but is injected from a consumer as @Kalahari Meerkat mentioned. At least the good thing is that the filter is helping.
  14. Cannot give you the best settings. This works for me with the new prepaid meters in Tshwane. Ignore the 3000W selling 1st as yours can be 8000W. Your timer settings will be as per your load profile. I have grid charge on from 17h00 up to 21h00 when gadgets in the kitchen are used to prevent discharge of battery. Also ignore the grid peak shaving of 3500W.
  15. This special starter is what you call a fuse or short circuit. I mentioned it as special as it is not the normal starter. It just makes it easier that you don't have to bridge out the 2 wires. For this reason it is normally supplied with the tube. We are both on the same page😀
  16. I would start by doing the settings on the inverter. If it fails to improve I would switch off the grid and PV and check if the inverter reports a lowering SOC to ensure the comms is working from the battery. Also if might help is you post a pic of the system settings as on the inverter screen. Then give us feedback.
  17. I notice that AC/DC do list a price for a spare dongle but no stock. Quite a price. R3200 for a spare dongle. Others seem to sell below R1000 from what I have seen. Can also Google for prices.
  18. Yes you still want to use the battery balancer to keep both your batteries at about the same voltage level.
  19. You need the special starter that is mostly connected on the 1 end of the tube to replace the existing starter to allow 220V to the LED tube. This only if you have a old style ballast that was not quick start without a starter.
  20. I must say this is an enjoyable car to drive. I just found the braking due to throttle position one thing one will have to get used to in a EV.
  21. Thanks for pointing it out but then again it's 2.5 kWh vs 3.6 kWh. On a R/kWh quite a bit higher. Also 24V vs 48V.
  22. Remove the tick from Zero Export To Load without changing any other setting and see if it improves matters.
  23. Have you tried to use a wide setting for frequency and voltage input on the Victron?
