  1. Stupid question - reviewing the battery manual you clealy have an option to link the batteries in parallel, specifically the EVO280 - similar to the pylontech and Bluenova stacking - Battery > battery > battery > battery > fuse > inverter However when reading the manual, it suggests to rather go battery > fuse > busbar > fuse > inverter. Obviously for warranty purposes stick to the suggested method?
  2. Seeing if there would be any interest in this, currently in the process of upgrading my system. Item: 5KW Hybrid Axpert King 80A MPPT Age: 3 years Price: R9000 Payment Method Accepted: EFT / CASH Warranty: N/A Packaging: None Condition: Like New Location: Centurion Reason: Upgrading system and panels Shipping: Buyers responsibility Collection: Yes Link: N/A
  3. @Bruce K What was the outcome after you flashed the firmware?
  4. Yes I did - the panels were incorrectly wired series/parallel which was causing an overvoltage, especially in winter. Once changed over I did not have any further problems.
  5. If you trying to set block 3 and 4, change the time to 00:00 - once it reaches this time press the "up" button - it will then display --:-- Then the Geyserwise will disregard those blocks.
  6. Seeing if there is any interest in these? 7. Thanks Gnome, but apart from the insulation and heat loss which one can work around, the theory is sound ?
  8. Reviving this thread - I have two Geysers at the moment, 1 servicing downstairs and 1 servicing upstairs, both run on EV tubes. As it stands I have people using the downstairs geyser which is fine at the moment, however when they move out I will not be using that Geyser as often. Would it be possible to run hot water from this geyser, to the one upstairs so that I can make use of both heating sources? It is probably about 30m away from each other.
  9. Well that is the crunch of the matter, I work for VW so always interesting seeing what is coming out in terms of news but a snippet from VW Group shows the sentiment of VW rather ploughing resources into other African countries. https://www.volkswagenag.com/en/news/stories/2019/10/the-next-few-years-will-be-exciting-in-africa.html E-Cars and the switch to electromobility are currently on everyone’s lips in Germany and Europe. How is the situation on the African continent? The South African government has so far been rather reluctant to do so. Unfortunately, the electricity supply is unstable. And the long distances between cities, make the population and the government doubt that the issue of e-mobility will be treated as a priority. Through the Automobile Association, however, we are engaged in an intensive dialogue with the government in order to bring more movement on the issue. After all, as a production location that is heavily dependent on exports, we cannot lag behind technologically. There is already more movement in other African countries: At the end of October, for example, we will launch our e-mobility initiative in Rwanda, with 50 e-Golfs1 as part of our mobility services – driven by the strong focus of some African countries on environmental protection and the high cost of fossil fuels, which have to be imported from the Middle East at high prices. They must not forget: Africa has many sustainable energy sources such as wind, gas and certainly sun.
  10. I still remember in 2017 I was at a roadshow with Audi South Africa when I was still with the brand, and they were teasing us with upcoming models to the SA market. Back then already they were talking about the Audi A3 e-tron and the Q7 e-tron, fully hybrid cars able to use both engine and EV. I thought to myself, what a clever idea seeing that Audi did not have any fully fledged car on the market apart from prototypes that they showed off at the Genève Motor show. However like with most things the idea fizzled out very quickly, who would be responsible for setting up a network of charging stations to fulfil this need, could they partner with others in the game such as BMW at the time, would there be a market for a R900 000 Audi A3 (at the time), and above all of this, how would electricity supply play into that fact that you own a partial electric car. Oh how it would be fun to turn back the time, imagine a flagship power utility, EV cars bountiful . . . . . Day dreaming again - snap out of it 🤣
  11. I know there is a current drive by the big boss at Volkswagen to start bidding on the international market for South Africa to start producing electric cars at the plant down in Uitenhage (Kariega). However the problem requires lots of $$$, as it is not a matter of converting the production line and off you go. The whole eco-system needs to change and adapt to the current EV trends. The current Polo probably has over 2000 different component manufacturers that supply the VW plant on a daily basis, and it will be up to VW to decide if they partner with external companies or keep everything in house. I guess the conundrum weighs heavy on how much money you want to push into the program, however as mentioned decisions have to be made soon as the consumption of our export vehicles is dropping off, and we cannot afford to loose this market we have. This doesn't just apply to VW, but also Ford in Silverton, BMW in Rosslyn, Toyota and Merc in Durban, Izuzu in PE; as well as the countless firms in South Africa that supply parts to these brands. The crystal ball is going to be very interesting to watch.
  12. I am currently building a grey water filtering system from various ideas and plans I have learnt along the way. First stage will be a combination of solid capturing and grease trap, you don't want these going through the system. 2nd stage will be a surge / settling tank, so sediment will hopefully fall to the ground and water will flow through the system. 3rd stage will be a 10m trench, around 60cm x 60cm, lined with pond liner and filled with gravel crusher. This will have 4 compartments allowing the water to flow through slowing. On top of this will plant soil and have a semi wetland filter with plant pulling out most nutrients. 4th stage will be a collection tank of around 1000 litres which will house the water for irrigation. My estimates put the system at the ability to hold 3600 litres of water which would hopefully be "purified" by the time it reaches the end of the system. It might be overkill but looking on Youtube some guys have really made nice looking systems that work really well on the above. I am just not sure the "black water" would do really well considering bacteria and E.coli etc.
  13. I remember reading the Victron installers manuals and they have no problem with these installs, only thing I did see is that they mentioned you install a busbar and have the terminals in a very specific location. Will see if I can try find it again. Aah I found it, that is what made me remember because I have two Axperts when I did the research.
  14. Nice idea to save some water, find my washing machine also kills my poor JOJO tanks and also wanted something where I could reuse the water too. I think the biggest thing is, how much water are we talking about and what is the budget (Assume with the nursing home budget is not very big). Also what are your thoughts of using the water? Gardens, re-use for washing, etc ?
  15. @Cassie such an awsum idea, I have been playing with the idea as well of having everything from the washing machine, baths and showers inc pool backwash to be drained into these pre-filters such as you have mentioned. Just the washing machine alone uses a ton of water that I could use again. However my water wouldn't be pumped back into the house. I would use the water to irrigate the garden as we have a big yard.
  16. Personally I have been through this already, bought a new house last year February and with all the rain we have been having I think I realized why the previous owners sold. No matter the epoxy, the conduit, the joints etc etc the cable always manages to find that little bit of moisture and subsequently trip the mains the whole time. I have had to pull new cables through to various parts of the house outside, lights, gate motor etc etc. My advise is that if you can, pull through a new cable and at least you do not have to worry about digging anything up. Also if its a new hole, consider laying another conduit along side the original one with a draw cable for future expansion plans.
  17. Ask the installer if you could make use of Standard Bank Escrow service - you pay the full amount into the account, he is guaranteed the full amount is there. Money doesn't move on unless you get your COC, and he has the assurance he will get paid once the COC is done. https://www.standardbank.co.za/southafrica/personal/products-and-services/ways-to-bank/innovative-payment-solutions/escrow-service
  18. One makes me think you might be the installer considering you have been on the forum for 3 years and this is your 3rd post. Coming out of the block you attack OP, calling him a "-- deleted by moderator---" and that he should let grown-ups sort it out. Clearly you might be the one going about doing stuff the wrong way to be honest, as this forum is used as a platform to help and educate people on these matters and put them in touch with people that can assist. Also your comment here: "-- deleted by moderator---" - Unfortunately if you want to run a business you should be able to take the punches, regardless if you on holiday or not, it is still your business and decency would dictate you respond to your clients and keep to your word of sticking to an appointment. What recourse do consumers have when business owners cannot be held accountable, if OPs house burnt down because the installer did not correctly install the equipment what would you say? Even after a year you can still be held accountable for an install if the incorrect equipment was installed.
  19. I have turned up the temps on the Geyser as well, using peak solar times to heat up the geysers with enough hot water being produced for evening use.
  20. That is pretty sad state of affairs, the unit itself is a wonderful concept which is compact and can be place almost anywhere. I was also looking at investing in the same unit, however after looking at reviews here, wind turbines don't really have a good track record with servicing.
  21. Just contact Manie from ICC, he will be able to create an image file for you to download so you can load it on the new SD Card. Disclaimer: Assuming the ICC version is from Manie and not from Centurion Solar - in that case your best bet would be to contact Centurion Solar.
  22. I wanted to find out if the boffins have managed to come up with a switch for their UV light. Busy with a home rain water collection project and bought myself a big blue 3 stage filter with UV light, however I don't want to connect the UV light to the pump as I am splitting the pump outlet between irrigation and home use (no use filtering water if its just going to the plants). I have been looking on the net for water flow switches, but they either come from China and use a working voltage of 5V - 18V, or the local ones that do make use of high voltage have low working flow rates 5l/min. Does anyone perhaps know of a switch that they have used before ? Or maybe I should just bite the bullet and connect it to the pump, and extra hour each does won't kill the light, I just don't want the light to be running 24/7. Thanks in advance !

  24. I am also looking a grey water system, but something a bit more eco friendly and struggled to find something on the market or someone that does it effectively. I decided to troll Youtube one evening and came around to this guy who installed a grey water system, not pretty but very clever especially using plants to filter the water and keep that smell down to a min. https://youtu.be/uZXMOfkrZYA
