Hehe. That's a good point. I'm all for facts, but he seem's to be zooming in onto one fact (C number) which is insignificant in most use cases. There are other factors which he's simply ignoring, such as price and guaranteed cycle life. Also, Pylontech's are doing fantastically well in those independant trials taking place in Aus as well as in other international reviews. I haven't seen one credible independent review of the Hubble's as yet. Not saying they're bad battteries, just that there's a lot of info still missing. Pylon is now a tried and tested brand and that counts for something.

So with 3*3.5kW pylontechs you should get a 4kW draw from the batteries = 83A, which is what I get occasionally.
Are you feeding your entire house using 8kW Sunsync with no grid input (off-grid), then yes the 1c vs 0.5C will make a difference.
However, the entire purpose of having a hybrid grid-tied inverter is to cater for additional power when your PV+Battery is inadequate, so in reality the 1C vs 0.5C makes little difference because what your battery+PV cannot provide the grid will!
The 1C vs 0.5C is only really an issue when you are off grid....And who in his right mind requires an off-grid setup to provide 8kW of power, you will in any case require a massive battery bank so again the 1C vs 0.5C argument is a non issue.
"Currently they only get me to 3am" is that because you have a massive drain on them and require more capacity or because the 1C charge rate is an issue?

    Hi
Attached is a link to youtube for a good explanation of how a RCD works.

At the time, my options were limited to what was on the CoCT approved list of inverters. The GoodWe has been on there for a long time.
Recently (after I already bought my inverter) the Sunsynk was added including I think the 8kW (speaking under correction). So I would probably now also lean to the Sunsynk side, so it is not just you. The Sunsynk gives you a few more great options, like 8kW version instead of the GoodWe at 4.6kW and also I think it supports a generator as another feed input. I don't have an AC-OUT-2 (non-essential) which I think victrons have and possibly the Sunsynk too. Oh don't forget, the Sunsynk support parallel mode, so you can have redundancy of higher capacity when you upgrade at a later stage.
That said, my GoodWe is still on a very old version and it shows the battery SoC wrong from 89-100% (stuck at 89%) while charging. Other than that, it has worked flawless during loadshedding the past week. We had shedding at both 14:02-16:12 and again 22:01-00:18 on the same day and literally for us it was like the power never went off.
One thing I was worried about, was the dish washer that run overnight for 3h15m on the eco mode session we prefer. The GoodWe with 2x US3000b pylontechs seemed to have powered it fine on top of the base load of the house, so that was the best news for me. The only thing I think I am still scared off to see what happen, is when the wife turns on her hairblower...
So mostly good. But I think you won't go wrong with a Sunsynk and that is what I would go if I was starting now.

There's a 3 phase hybrid from Goodwe, and the Solis one has been announced. They work from HV batteries though which is potentially a problem (at least R80k for the battery bank).
Other option is to parallel 3 sunsynks (either 3.6kw or 5kw). I'm actually considering using 2 X 5kw sunsynks at my place and leaving the 3rd phase empty.

You can't go wrong by bidding the scrap value.
If you can measure the terminal voltages and the voltages are ok then that's a good sign!

That's a different inverter to the one you linked. We're still awaiting pricing (and stock) in SA.

You're only able to use one of the strings at a time. Surely you're losing a lot of generation with this method?
P.S ignore my previous RAS post, can't seem to delete it.

Thanks. No way I'll ever be able to test this theoretical limit unless I decide to get one of those 18kw generators, plug in every single appliance I have and pull an extention cord to a couple of neighbours 🤣.
90A is nearly 20kw of continuous ac power.

If I have everything on, geyser, aircon, pool pump, kettle, micro wave and 500 watts of plugs and lights, then I would hit the 35 amps on the 5 kW, which has not happened yet, in the two months since the system was commissioned

I asked the guys from solar-shop this a while ago and their answer was that the pass through figure is the total max, which includes the inverter's contribution.

The main roof is at a 15 degree angle and the new steel structure will be 20 degrees. I'm still waiting for the architects to design that.
I just decided to use the angles I have available instead of trying to optimise it to the perfect angle, for maybe 20 extra kw over the whole year.

Which angle did you end up going with? I don't think the 56 is correct.

Yes. Mine has been running for for a few months now. Direct. Do like the water temp idea though, so might add that in the future.
