Replacing an old DB
This worked brilliantly for me... extra space and old breakers on top level... I would do it like this again given budget constraints.

System Details
Hi All I'm giving this a thread a "bump" so people are aware they can add a signature. It does make a huge difference when answering questions Thanks Mark

Interesting initiative by Ekurhuleni.
What sort of price are we looking at for the 3 phase meter?

MORE ESKOM WOES... is that possible?
Sadly this quote is the issue and is needed before all the other bits can be done.. ie. immediately! Highlighted in RED for Government attention 😡 "Revenue management through electricity price increases and better collection of arrear debt."

Google sunroof
Personally this site has been the most useful for me. Go to google and find the Latitude and Longitude of your location. You can then fiddle the angle to best suit your scenario or needs. https://www.pveducation.org/pvcdrom/properties-of-sunlight/solar-radiation-on-a-tilted-surface Bottom of the page is the utility!

Is your system legal? Capetonians have till 28 Feb 2019 to register their systems
Reads like you know something we don't 😉

Off grid registrations
https://www.businessinsider.co.za/nersa-registration-for-off-grid-electricity-systems-via-distributor-rules-for-municipalities-2019-8 Very interesting approach me thinks... "6.9.3 Off-Grid Own Use customers are excluded from being a Licensable Area of Supply, however shall be identified by Licensees and mapped on the NERSA GIS." See doc attached for draft, for comment, rules.42650gon1083.pdf NERSA Website down partially for the moment so document unavailable. Here it is...Draft NERSA Rules for Licensable Distribution Areas of Supply.pdf

Benefits of cleaning solar panels
- Solar geyser to feed dishwasher
I just set a timeswitch for it to start mid morning... we aren't there anyway to use the PV... An aside: Just bought a 800w/800ml camping kettle for the kitchen. You will not believe how few times I have used the 2200w 1.8l kettle since then... 2 cups tea - done and dusted!- Solar geyser to feed dishwasher
Be careful here. Some dishwashers don't like hot water direct to washing cycle... or it needs to be below a certain temp. Check the manual. Unlike a washing machine that has 2 (H and C) inputs the dishwasher only has a cold... mine anyway.- IBR Roof Mounting options
Last night was one of the times I have been very glad to have spent the time and effort to install very solid panel racks (corrugated iron with dowel screws). A howling and gusty wind into the back of my tilted (35deg) array... stuff of sleepless nights! (could hear the wooden joists flexing)... I don't think doing your mounting properly first time is money poorly spent - for the cost its VERY worth it.- IBR Roof Mounting options
I predrill a hole before I use the hanger... That thing is massive and you don't want to split the purlin or beam Plus it goes in easier !- V2H - Vehicle to Home battery storage
V2H sorted... Actually V2N (neighbourhood)- IBR Roof Mounting options
You could try and join the ends of each rail in some way... ? Rails come in 6m lengths so could you not use full lengths?- IBR Roof Mounting options
I think its worth adding a hanger bolt in the centre of the 3200 or moving the side bolts towards the centre. I would add 4 more hanger bolts ... to avoid the rails sagging in the middle. Regards Mark- Victron grid tied setup from scratch
Well done TTT - may want to block the address boet... We could come for beer and food Now: NO FIDDLING ALLOWED- 150 watt solar panels
I'm near "Almost Gone"- Axpert - strange behaviour (Potential MPPT issue)
My suggestion @Gary... Put the spare 3kw in and split your PV if the 3kv can't handle the full PV array. Maybe the reduction in PV will help with the PV tripping on the 5kv. Charge the battery bank with both but leave the 5kw to manage the loads. The 2 inverters will work fine off the one bank. Good luck - tough times. - Solar geyser to feed dishwasher
