The Hubble Looks really good against the wall and mounts flush with 4 bolts.
Wiring up the terminals right near the floor, not so much fun.
The Massive 200A disconnect fuse looks rather ominous

Kill_switch got a reaction from Yellow Measure in Real world battery performanceTwo members have previously contacted me about possible battery non/under performance and on both occasions the data set appears to support that my batch of Hubble Am-2 are delivering the required power. On the most recent one I gathered the following information over a period we had a Eskom power failure and sun had set.
While it is a limited time-frame and averages could throw out the measurements, It does appear to correlate.
My Setup is 8Kw Sunsynk connected to a RIOT via CAN and the RIOT is connected to the master of 2 x AM-2 batteries by serial connection. Period 17:34 - 20:11
Solarman App: in inverter data.
17h34 values of 91% SoC, Total Charge 680.80 Total Discharge 624.20
20h11 values of 72% SoC, Total Charge 680.80 Total Discharge 626.50
Delta (626.50 - 624.20) 2.3 kWh
Assumed Power used @19% delta SoC (91%-72%) ≈ (5.5KW *2)*19% =2.090 KW
ROIT data:
I can extract the status of my combined batteries for the same period from the RIOT , the I and V Data is exported to excel and then manually calculate an instantaneous power per reading and sum to see total expected.
The RIOT reports V and I readings every 5 seconds. If I take I x V (instant power) /60 min /60 Sec x 5 seconds it should give me the power produced in KVA for each 5 sec slot, sum up the 1800 odd entries and should be total power used.
Total sum gives me 2.213 KVA

While none of these 3 readings match (Expected 2.09 KW vs Solarman 2.3 KW vs RIOT 2.213 kVA) and the whole power factor question in kAH/kW . It is more likely due to the mismatch of data points between the sources and the SoC was closer to 20% than 19.
At worst it appears my batteries are working better than advertised.

Kill_switch got a reaction from Yellow Measure in Yet Another SunSynk (8kW)Quite simple, I want to aim for the 12000 (50%DoD 0.5C) cycle lifetime not the 3000( 100%DoD 1C),
Leshan's argument is however valid as I don't void any warranty (of the battery) if I were to use the full capability (1C) and it can deliver the required current without forcing a inverter error or going into battery protection mode.
I also have ordered the RIOT for remote monitoring previously, got confirmation that Hubble is sending me the required cable to the upgrade the battery firmware with my RIOT shipment.

1 x RJ11 standard cable (Black)
1 x Custom RJ45 to RJ11 (Black with blue RJ45 boot)
I was a little disappointed there is zero instructions in the box. So I has no idea where to even start. The RIOT itself is housed in a 3d printed box, nice colour red filament used , the custom cable (RJ45-RJ11) only uses 3 wires.

Power is via a self clamping Molex type connector (there is 3 ports you only use the outside ones) there is space for a supplied 2A fuse on the side as well. (no power cables are provided)
I gave it power directly from the batteries and connected the black RJ11 to my master battery , the provided cable is extremely short and made mounting options rather limited. The setup of the device did not go according to the online instruction, and after about 1h30 I eventually got it right, only to find out I can't monitor anything until the RIOT is linked to my profile. (This is done by submitting a ticket to [email protected]). For now I have the Riot connected and running, with the RS11 cable connected but I cant actually see any info😭.
Hubble also sent me a RS232 to USB cable which was initially supposed to be for the firmware update I need to get the BMS working correctly. It seems there was some comms gaps and Hubble prefers to come to site to do it themselves. This is still much better than sending them back to the factory for the update, but felt odd given the cable was supplied and the supplier gave me indication I would/could do it myself.
I must commend Hubble that they are willing to give this type of after sales service, but there is a few things that need improvement in the product side of the RIOT especially in my view, even if it is only better instructions of what to/not do.
I was probably a little impatient and could have just waited for Wednesday when Hubble will be on site.

In my journey to become free of eskom , i have installed a 10KVA solar system. and let me state that this road was not without problems.
I have learned alot from this forum, and thank you for this.
In November 2020, I made the biggest mistake and bought a solar Geyser and 9 x 400W Mono panels including install from SolarEnergyLife ((0)12 807 1023) [email protected]. I was made to pay the full invoice otherwise they will not install.
After about 3 weeks nothing was installed and just excuses form them. I had to threaten then with attorneys letter in order for them to install. Then they only installed 6 panels, because they sold 3 of my panels to another client. After another attorney's letter the remaining panels were installed 4 months later.
Recently i learned that they have sold me 360W panels and branded it is as 400W panels. THIS IS UNETHICAL
Their installer installed all the panels on 2 x 15 Amp fuse boxes. Clearly not thinking.
This company and their installer (Ceaser (0733139747) know nothing about installing panels in the correct order. and has also no respect for your house, This installer damaged my ceiling on 2 separate places where he nearly put his foot on the ceiling boards. He installed 9 x400w on 1x 6mm cable. The cable become so hot that it started to burn.
I now had to get in another company to fix their problems.
Dont bother complaining to the owner. Tiaan (0745617976) this person is completely useless. He has not once called to apologies for the problems their caused. But taking my money was good enough.
I also calling their project manager Kobus 0747807982, then phone was put down on my on several occasions. this just demonstrated that they do not care about their clients.
I was so frustrated that i went back to their shop where this (excuse my language) ASSHOLE of a project manager just walked away when i asked him what is going on.
Guys, going solar is the right move. JUST DO NOT USE this company "SOLAR ENERGY LIFE" !!!!!
I promise you you will get bad service and you will have to re-do your string wiring.
and for my geyser system that i bought from them. THEY HAVE NO CLUE WHAT THEY ARE SELLING. !!! STAY AWAY from them.

Correct.
There are 2x CAN ports, both ports use same pin layout as Pylontech to keep most inverter cables compatible.
Layout for both CAN ports are:
PIN 4: CAN-H
PIN 5: CAN-L
PIN 2: GROUND
The Included CAT5 cable will work on CANbus to the Battery, or CANbus from the RIOT to the inverter. However reverse CAN is being implimented for this to enable Axpert integration.
The Sunsynk CAN packets are being received by the RIOT, however it is not being processed and sent to the cloud yet. That is scheduled to be completed in the next 2-3 months if all goes well.
The RIOT website www.riotsystems.cloud will in the near future start releasing firmware update notifications and the new online manual with features as they are released.
RIOT is currently beta testing:
1. BMS, Pack, Firmware serial number extraction
2. Hubble BMS up to 15 pack parallel integration and automatick pack number, and overall complete ESS SOC.
3. Estimated runtime on battery pack remaining
4. Axpert MKSII, VMIII, King full monitoring.
5. Number of Charge Cycles.

This release should go out for OTA firmware update to the main branch Monday.
Next implimentation will be:
1. Reverse CANbus completion for Axpert - This will extract pack volts, and SOC from the CANbus from the batteries and send to the Axpert to eliminate Error 4 and fix the SOC problem. RIOT is hoping to push this OTA firmware in 4-6 weeks.
2. Impliment new Schneider Gateway Zanbus protocol.

This was a battery discussion. Maybe we should stick to that, and go have the measuring contest in a different topic.
Unfortunately while Hubble is clearing following this, its not what I would call constructive forum to answer given the rest of the fluff. (although it does seem Hubble answering selective questions, which is their right, not like Pylon-tech is going to come chat with us). @HubbleLithiumMaybe post the details in the actual product pages or in the post where you shared the installation photo's.
The useful bit I have gathered so far that is that wiring of these stacks( 4/5 bats) is something we should be a little more mindful of. Does anyone have a spec on max current for 25mm^2 vs 50 mm^2.
It is however interesting to note that there is some bias to Hubble for now all three staff picks are Hubble related.....
@Energy-Jason is there any direct links between the forum admin and Hubble? I know the power-forum-store is the official agent for at least the RIOT, any other links that we should know about in the interest of transparency? (I have no issue if so but is good to understand nevertheless).
While I will continue to follow all of these topics as I have invested in the Hubble equipment , once installed I will share my experience.

Kill_switch got a reaction from Yellow Measure in Sunsynk 5.5k single CAN bus port limitationWould be interested in the answer as well mine has not arrived but in my conversation with Steve, he said it would use the two ports one to battery one to inverter.
I would assume that the rj45 is configurable for RS485 based on this info from info sheet ( would be interesting if this is in factory or in software), but if not configured works in CAN bus mode.
The RJ11 is how I will talk to the hubble AM 2 as well for the enhanced info, I assume this based on my need to update the firmware the hubbles and it uses the RJ-11 as a Rx/TX line and you talk via RS232 port.
@HubbleLithium can maybe confirm?

For me , It seems you need a windows laptop with RS232 port and a specific cable that plugs into the Hubble RS232 port (it not a standard serial port looks like a old telephone port). Once mine gets done I will update here.

To Whom It May Concern:
This is an open letter about an open source concept called PUSH, acronym for portable universal self-contained heliostat.
A heliostat continuously reflects sunlight towards a fixed target by using a mechanism that moves a mirror to compensate for the Earth’s motion.
Several methods have been employed to automatically control the mirror’s movement. The approach described here might simplify the task significantly.
PUSH configuration:
A flat 2-sided circular mirror, M, mounted on a 2-axis gimbal, rotates about the gimbal’s base axis, Ab, and cross axis, Ac.
Ab passes through the center of M and the center of the gimbal base. Ac passes through the center of M and is perpendicular to Ab.
The gimbal is affixed to the inside of a concentric transparent spheral shell.
Motors drive the motion of M, powered by solar energy and controlled by timers, light sensors and simple logic switches.
PUSH operation:
Ab is manually pointed at the target.
When direct sunlight is present, the sequence below occurs automatically and repeats periodically.
1. M rotates about Ab and stops when Ac is perpendicular to the Sun.
2. M then rotates about Ac, stopping when the reflected beam aligns with Ab.
Design details can vary, with safety and simplicity in mind.

Need to confirm if the BMS is working correctly, and the hubble's are talking to each other (discharge limit should be 200A with 2 batteries) Need to figure out best times/percentages for battery use. Get CoC done. Produced 34kWh today.

Since there is a quite a lot of interest I will also be sharing the experiences with the batteries once its running.
The batteries were pretty well packed, came with a "quick guide" a QC date, and a set of 25mm^2 cables

Kill_switch got a reaction from hoohloc in Pylontech vs HubbleSimple yes, however we now have 3 chart/specs each with a different preferred max... maybe that's why there is so much confusion?
Your spec gives 100A at 2.3 m (3% loss)
Website linked above gives 131A for 1% over the same distance
And the table linked gives 180A
and we wonder why each seems to hold their own view..

Since battery cables seem to just be standard welding cables, attached is a datasheet which on page 3 shows current ratings. Use the 100% duty cycle column. The table shows current rating for 5 minutes of use, so adjust accordingly for cable heating up.
