I have installed 2 x ac fans (10cm x 10cm) above my sunsynk inverter. It doesn't go above 60 on hot

Hey guys

I noticed now on my app that my inverter Dc Temp is running at around 80 Degrees. Is this normal? inverter was running a big load at the time I checked. AC temp was around 66 Degrees but could not hear any fans running?

At What temp wil it be to much for the Inverter?

days. I suggest you do the same.

Ive just put 2 fans at the bottom of the inverter blowing through the fins it helped. Would you say its better to have them on top? Then I assume they have to extract hot air?

I'm not sure which is better. I put mine on top extracting because it was easier. Didnt have to try mount the fans at the bottom.

Mine just sit directly on top of the heatsink

Hi Guys,

Coming to the party here - I'd like to install some fans on my Sunsynk 5kw inverter and Sunsynk Battery. Thinking of using PC fans fitted with a filter to prevent dust build up.

Has anyone done this? Anyone know easiest way to wire the fans?

the filter will slow the dust build-up but best to keep spare fans around to replace as they will fail at some point...

unless you want to start messing around inside the inverter trying to find 12VDC it's easier to just connect to the fans to a 12VDC power supply.
I've just recently setup 2 x 92mm PC fans below the heat sink, using a simple 12VDC PSU but I've got the PSU on a smart switch and using Home Assistant to monitor the inverter's radiator temp and turn the fans on/off as needed...
Here's a post that started about the benefits of using fans...

Thanks man - what is powering your 12VDC power supply? Or did you modify an existing power supply to power the fans?

I setup a DC fan (CPU fan) with my old plug from a ADSL router. its 12v 3A output

The newer models don't have a fan for cooling. Only natural cooling.

Yep, and they get damn hot. Mine has been up to 78.

time to install some fans!

Yes. But I should not have to do that. Looks like Synsyk is cutting corners Saving R80 on a R25k plus inverter seems pretty short sighted.

I see the inverter normal running temperatures are quite high....

  • Size (W x H x D) - 330 x 310 x 172mm

  • Weight - 11kg

  • Internal Consumption - <1W (Night)

  • Running Temperature - -25°C-65°C

  • Ingress Protection - IP65

  • Noise Emission - <25dB

  • Cooling Concept - Natural Cooling

  • Max Operating Altitude - 2000m

  • Designed Lifetime - >20 Years

  • Operating Surroundings Humidity - 0-100%
