Morning Guys

Need your input on this one please , is this a good deal below:

3kva Growatt hybrid inverter, 2.8kw Nenergy lithium battery R19950 includes installation and COC All consumables included, change over switch, Sub distribution board, Cabling, Fuses etc. Would be able to run, TVs, wifi, pc, decoder, lights, kitchen appliances and most other essentials

I want to eventually build onto this system with more batteries, for now am dipping my toes into this new spend where the upgrade bug will eventually bite.

Regards
Allister

am trying to google the inverter make but it comes up with 2.2Kw Kool Energy VM Series Inverter

Assume that you are not in Cape Town, the inverter is not on the approved list that can be connected to the grid.

My understanding is that these are same as the Mercers but with different branding. Not sure about local support and who imports these.

dam so its not worth it, why would he call it 3.5kva

The description and the price of the battery require unpacking: 2.8kWh Nenergy lithium battery for R8000

Firstly, the image on the Whatsapp link is of the Nenergy 4.8kWh battery, which costs around R24,000 normally if you google around.

They also make a Nenergy 2.4kWh battery which is selling for around R15,000. But that's not what's on the picture.

There's no such thing as a 2.8kWh version, so that's probably a typo.

The photo is also of the 5.5kW Kool Energy hybrid inverter, not the 2.2kW version. Makes sense, since it's a 48V battery on the image not a 24V.

Look, maybe you're lucky and these batteries just fell off the back of a truck, or maybe it's last year's surplus stock or a mid-month fire sale or something like that.

Or maybe it's just too good to be true. You decide.

That system is short on battery. Especially at stage 6. Remember that you can't use all the capacity, work on 90%. So can it get you through a 4 hour load shed?

Also that brand came up in another discussion recently. I checked the specs and one thing I noticed was that the charge current was low. Which means you can't charge the battery quickly.

So to me, putting the price aside (that is also making me go hmmmm), this looks like a system to get you through a load shed. Which maybe what you want or can afford. No way are you going to run your geyser or electric stove off of this. No way will that battery get you through the night.

It is not going to make things worse. But it is limited, and you need to understand those limits. It also isn't going to save you money.

It does look very cheap, especially the battery.

Whats the scam if there's no deposit and payment after install?

Whole thing is dodgy, especially that quote

Guys like him start spinning you stories that they need money upfront for consumables or to "reserve" the hardware. If they can squeeze 5-10k out of a couple customers every month that's a pretty good scam

Whatever amount he can syphon out of you he will try.
So don't pay any up front costs no matter how insignificant the amount is
