Mine is running 71.70 which I believe is the latest. Not sure where you'd get hold of the files though.

@Pieter Annandale if you find the 71.70 firmware please share as I'm also desperately looking for it. Seems that the new Kings are coming with it but the firmware is not available.

Coulomb and I are working up to fixing the premature float bugs that still exist in the latest King (PIP-MK) firmware, and making an LFP version with the changes to the 3 inaccessible voltage offsets needed for sensible operation with LFP's very flat voltage vs SoC curve. These changes are simple enough that we can do them without having access to a King for testing. That is not the case for AussieView or Dynamic Load and Charge Control, so we won't be doing them, since we can't justify buying a King we don't otherwise need.

However there's no point in us doing any of this until Voltronic fix the other major bugs:

Some folks have 71.80. But it seems it is only intended to fix problems with Pylontech support on 2019 Kings and does nothing to fix the problems with the SCC repeatedly pausing for 30 to 60 seconds, or freezing completely until the next morning (or until reset by other means). There is no evidence that Voltronic or MPP Solar even know about this problem.

What's more, MPP Solar seem to be saying that 2018 Kings are lacking the hardware needed to work with Pylontech, so firmware upgrades cannot fix this. I'm guessing that if a King did not come with the "PYL" battery type option, then although a firmware upgrade may add this option, it still won't work, because that King will be lacking the required hardware.

If anyone has better news about these two problems (SCC pause/freeze) and (Pylontech operation) please let us know.

In the meantime, it may surprise you to know that our main problem with producing a patched version of King firmware is displaying a version number that makes it clear this is not a factory version and indicates whether it is an LFP version or not. This is due to the version number being sent to the removable display in a format that doesn't allow the same manipulations that were available when the display was built in.

We're also confused about a couple of Bluetooth-related things that anyone who actually has a King, probably already knows, or can determine for us in a few minutes:

Q1. Does the removable display require a cable, or can it work wirelessly, presumably over Bluetooth?

Q2. When you connect an Android device to the King via Bluetooth, is the Bluetooth transceiver in the removable display or in the main body of the inverter? i.e. if you disconnect the removable display can you still connect via the Android device?

The display needs the be plugged in for the inverter to work. So no wireless connection.

Not sure if the Bluetooth receiver is in the display or not. I don’t have an android device.  But without the screen plugged in the inverter doesn’t work. As the power button is on the screen.

Interestingly I don't seem to have this freeze/pause issue on 71.70. Last night I upgraded to 71.80 so I'll see what happens from here.

Do you think you could look to fix the charging from utility issue (despite anything specified under setting 16)? Or is this more complex than the changes you are working on?

Quite possibly. Right now we think Weber has a fix for the freeze/pause, so we're busy with that. But as always, no guarantees.

I'm sorry to tell you that it didn't work. The freeze reoccurred.

It is a very odd thing that I don't experience any freeze on my Kings and I've run two different firmware versions. Kinda points to a hardware fault, no?

Not since 71.80, 71.80 still has the freezes (unless you're @miles, it seems), and an attempted fix by Weber and myself didn't work.

Most probably, as the load is not close to the max. (I presume)

I found that the King performed more stable over weekend as the load in my house was more stable and lower over weekends.

 

 

Freezes?

I'm not using the MPPT so I have no idea if that is the problem maybe?

If my battery is fully charged. And there is not a lot of power being drawn from the system the PV drops away. I switch off the incoming supply in the morning. The pool pump come on at 10.  Then the solar powers the load and the battery is charged. And no dips in the solar if I do this. Also running 71.80

Good Morning 

Just some feedback. After a lengthy struggle, my previous Huawei  batteries was replaced by the Installer.

They were replaced by Narada 100ah 48v 4.8Kw Lithium Ion. (3 in parallel)

I was informed by the supplier and installer that my PV dip and PV freeze will not happen with these batteries.

It has only been two days but I can report the following:

I have not experienced a single PV dip during the last two days. Even when using the a 2200W Iron the PV supply stays constant. Doesn't matter what load I introduce (3800W max total)  the PV supply does not dip and stays constant. This is obviously a massive benefit in terms of PV supply during the day. Efficiency has increased dramatically.

It is to early to comment on the PV freeze but will definitely provide feedback.

I hope my excitement is not short lived but the initial results are really promising.

Good Day

Well this will be my last input wrt the matter unless something change

Its been one week now with thew new Batteries. To date I have not experienced one PV dip or Freeze. This was with various loads being introduced from 200 Watt to 3500 Watt. Because of the constant PV supply all 3 batteries are now fully charged by 2 in the afternoons.

It might be premature but the constant PV dips and Freezes has not occurred since the new batteries. 

All components stayed the same except the batteries. During all discussions the focus wrt PV Freeze and dips has mostly been towards the inverters.

I wonder if the focus was wrong or if I was just lucky that this issue seems to be resolved.

It should be a relatively easy test and would expect installers to trouble shoot this.

Coulomb and I have just uploaded a beta version of our first patched firmware for the Axpert King, based on 71.80. It is called 71.80d and it only fixes the premature float bugs. It does not fix the PV dropouts or freezes. It does not add any of our features such as AussieView, KettleKomp or Dynamic Current and Load Control. You will find it here:
