Yes there are but the deye 5kw is the best priced for a true hybrid with bidirectional on grid, offgrid features. If the budget is tight you could get axpert type hybrids like mine. I have a growatt sfp5000es , it blends pv and grid without any fiddling but you wont be able to sell your excess production to the municipality or feed loads before the inverter. I just connected the geyser to the inverter so it's still doable but not as elegant. May 20, 20215 yr Author Thanks... I’m just trying to make sure that, when I need more power than my panels are providing, that the system will only supplement the load, and not switch over completely. Not interested in selling back (for now I guess)

All Axpert models with the high voltage (450 or 500V max) solar charge controllers can blend AC-in with battery and solar, as can the Axpert King with 145V max SCC. May 22, 20215 yr @Coulomb, the only negative on the Axpert inverters is being limited to the 5 kW instead of a true hybrid ( essential and non essential circuits)

The 5kw Sunsynk can convert 5kw from DC to AC and take the remaining 3kw from the grid if needs be. I would recommend the 8kw Sunsynk if you are looking to go as off grid as possible.

April 28, 20224 yr Hi everyone, i'm looking for some advice re supply blending. Would the SOL-I-AX-8M (Max 2 version) do supply blending? I am helping a friend and he is wanting to run from solar as much as possible but in the event that there is not enough solar he would like to supplement with grid power and should no grid power be available, supplement from battery as a last resort. I understand this is SUB priority output but just want to make sure. So in other words, on a cloudy day, his PV supply is 2000 watts but his load is 4000w, then it should supplement with 2000w from Eskom but still use the 2000w PV at the same time. Thanks so much guys, appreciate all the advice given on the forum.
April 28, 20224 yr Hi @Andy07 there are now many affordable options when it comes to true hybrid inverters for use in urban areas to "run from solar as much as possible". Axpert type hybrids should really be for rural setting uses. Your options are the Solis 6kw, Kodak/solis 4,6kw, Sunsynk/deye/fusion 5kw and last but probably best bang for buck(as in not least) Luxpowertek LXP 5kw. These are all true hybrids and support most popular lithium brands of batteries. My number 1 choice would be the Luxpowertek lxp 5kw followed by the deye/sunsynk/fusion 5kw and solis 6kw.

April 28, 20224 yr Thanks so much, I guess the main thing I wanted to be sure of was that he would get the benefit of any available solar from a cost saving perspective. I know that some Axpert inverters will just switch outright to grid when the PV supply cannot meet the load demand.

The 6kw and others I posted links to are true hybrids which means they are grid interactive and will use battery if the grid is not there.

They are all just grid tied. The RHI models are hybrid and does blend and use a battery. At times one has to be specific about the model and not just the brand.
May 1, 20224 yr My response was based on the SOL-I-AX-8M, which I believe is a Mecer branded Axpert Max 2 (8 kW). Nothing to do with Solis inverters.
May 19, 20233 yr Hi all, does anybody know if the below Kodak Inverter does the "blending" feature whereby it uses all the solar power generated, and then adds the grid/battery to make up the demand. i.e if demand is 2000w and the solar is producing 1500w, then it only takes the additional 500w from the battery/ grid, instead of switching over fully to grid/ battery for the 2000w demand.
