Inverters

Off Grid & Grid Tie inverters

  1. Hi All, Long time lurker, first time poster. I want to start by thanking all the contributors on this site. A fair chunk of what I know about solar/backup power has been learnt here. I’m hoping someone can help with a problem I encountered while adding PV to my existing setup. Some background. For about a year I’ve been running a Synapse 5.0K+ inverter (believe this is a rebranded Voltronic Axpert King) and Synapse 4.8kWh battery (believe this is a rebranded Pylontech) as a pure loadshedding back-up solution. Load is a dedicated plug circuit (completely isolated from rest of house) & lights (separate neutral in DB) that has relative…

Does anyone know how UPS settings on inverters actually works? seems like the transfer time in less in UPS than APL, I would like to get deeper into how this works I tried it on Growatt SPF 5000 ES and some Voltronic inverters.

Am planning on buying a Sunysnk 5kW inverter, however am a bit curious about Sunsynk's conditions for claiming warranty where they speak about the product needing to be "serviced", "maintained" by an Sunsynk Authorized agent. If there's anyone who has had or is currently running a Sunsynk Inverter, what maintenance does this inverter require? I've had a PIP 2424MSX Inverter and the only service I have done myself is to open the casing and to blow out dust annually, nothing else over the last 9years. Now does this infers that am not authorised to do the same on the Sunsynk. Is there anyone who knows of any mandatory maintenance that has to be done on Sunsynk Inverters? …

Good day Everyone. I bought a Synerji 3k inverter a while back on a special. I've finally saved enough money to buy Solar panels. I've installed 10 x 460W 41.3V 11.13A STC (or NOCT is 347W, 39.1V 8.89A). I've got 2 x 102AH lithium Iron batteries. I'm trying to get the solar to supply power to some of the items in the house (fridges, PC, lights and internet) during the day and during the night if there is load shedding we just run the lights and internet off the batteries. I've sorted this out using relays and Home Assistant. I'm having the following issue. It doesn't look like the inverter is supplying solar power to the load first. The batteries…

  9. Good day, I am a girl with no electrical knowledge and need some help please I have a 1KVA Mercer inverter with a deep cycle batter. The battery lasted for a year, and will now cost me about R4000 to R6000 to replace. I don't have the specs for the Mercer Battery as I have not opened my inverter up yet. Attached is the specs it says on the document however. The Gell battery specs I have been given are as follows. Can I put the gel battery in the inverter: This battery is 12 Volt and has a 100 amp/hours capacity. This Deep cycle battery Specifications - 12 Volt DC - 100Amp Hours - Terminal Type: M6 Net Weight: 25Kg Measurements…

Greeting all, I bought into a housing Development in KZN and it came with a Fronius Primo 5.0.-1, which is a great system obviously, but is Grid Tied, so I swapped it out for a Victron with batteries. MY questions is, where can sell this Fronius inverter/who would find it usefull? I have tried Facebook and Gumtree for the last 4 weeks but no luck. Would appreciate any advice here. Thanks!

I have read a few posts on this topic but nothing definitive. I'm looking to buy a generator - no eskom as backup Few questions 1. I see that the generators have normal 3 pin plug output - I'm limited to 16a? 2. I'm looking to buy a Power Master 3.5 KVA Inverter Generator has anyone used this successfully? 3. I just want to use this to charge batteries

Hi everyone. I have two Axpert Inverters connected in parallel. Here are pics of each ones specs. I do not see any limitation specs on the input side of the solar charge controller but on other inverters, I happened to notice that they show a 18A PV array input limit. Would this be standard for all of them? And what is the maximum number of panels that I can use on both seeing their PV specs differ slightly? Thanks.

  13. Good day I am looking for a CT clamp for my LuxPower inverter so I can use the excess energy from my solar panels to feed my non-critical load. Sourcing of a CT clamp seems to be an issue and I cannot seem to buy the LuxPower CT Clamp in South Africa (https://luxpowertek.com/luxpower-inverter-ct-clamp). Please can someone let me know where I can source one? Thanks for the help. Regards Michael

  14. Hi everyone Does anyone know what part of an axpert board controls the charging voltage? I have one with an integrated MPPT, and what happens is that the charging voltage is going up to 62V even though it's set to 57V or thereabouts. That'll cook the batteries. 🤔 This happens with both the grid charger & the MPPT. It's NOT the control card as I tried another one, nor the voltage divider resistors as it picks up the correct voltage on the screen, or should I say that the voltage on the LCD equals the voltage on my tester - 62V. I'm not sure where to look on the board. It's a Mark IV 5.6KW board, but it should be the same for any of the 5KW boards. Any help would b…

Hi everyone I need some help, please… Last weekend we moved into a house we recently bought. It has a PV system with batteries that is grid tied, and a Mecer inverter. Last night during load shedding my wife put the kettle on and it tripped out the power (which was obviously running off the batteries, though we didn’t realize it was load shedding at the time). We had used the kettle in load shedding before, during the day, so I believe that the fact it was at night without any support from the PVs meant the backup (batteries) couldn’t cope. Lesson learned that we need to be conscious of which appliances we use during load shedding! However, since then we haven’…

  19. The past year I have helped a couple of friends and family on their journey to beating load shedding - and some going solar too. My recommended inverter has always been the SNA5000 from Luxpowertek. All installs were done by qualified electricians and CoC were issued. I only assist with the software side such as creating an account and setting up the inverter. Recently the customer code inf01 that I used for account registration stopped working. Can someone please assist?

I have an older 24v 3kW inverter running off a 24v 100ah lithium battery. Am thinking of getting a 5kw Sunsynk inverter, hook it up to the panels & utility & get it to feed my current inverter via the A/C input. Reason is Sunsynk is 48v so it won’t charge my 24v battery pack & discharge from it. Once my battery reaches end-of-life, hopefully by then can afford a 48v battery to match with the Sunsynk & decommission it. Anyone with advise & thoughts on this?

  21. Hi All We have the above at the workplace, and 2x 40KWh FreedomWon LiFEPo batteries for 80KWh total capacity. For the past three weeks, no matter how heavily we draw on the batteries, their SoC never decreases according to the SoC meter on the units and on the website / app. The install is about a year old, it was working fine until three weeks ago, e. g. SoC decreases during loadshedding as the loads are serviced using the batteries, then immediate charge-up when grid comes back. Now you can still see the grid charge occurring after loadshedding ends (so SOMETHING is seeing the batteries are discharged and need recharging) but the actual indicated SoC…

Hi friends, im repairing my MAX 7.2. It had AC/DC IGBTs blown, i replaced them, checked optocouplers, and driving circuitry it looks ok. I also checked the UC3845 wich works(Generates about 95kHz). But it still gives F09 and the fans keep working at max speed. Can someone help me? If im correct, the softstart board should be on top of the MPPT PCB. Am i right? If yes is here some reversed schematic? I also checked semiconductors on the softstart board but everything looks ok. Also on main PCB all transistors and diodes are checkd. Is the maximum fan speed dependend on the F09 error, or is the CPU thinking of some NTC overtemp failure and so it does not enable drivers?

  24. Hello Everyone, in my inverter Voltronic Axpert VM IV Twin 6K, i have main firware v.56.09 and secondary cpu firmware v.39.06. Is there a new version available? Many Thanks for your Help.. Steve

  25. Hi Folks, I have 2 12kva 3 phase inverters, 2 x 10Kw batteries and 20 panels. My entire DB is connected to the system to run the entire house. It’s been running for 8 months now. I however noticed, that despite batteries being full, enough solar production, there is a still a continuous draw from the grid. To give perspective, according the SUNSYNK app, I should have used approx 300 units from the grid, but i have purchased 900 for the month. Soc set to below 40%. Any ideas?
