Sunsynk Batteries increases Sunsynk Inverter warranty?

Featured Replies

What is your take on Sunsynk batteries?

According to one online store, when pairing Sunsynk inverters with Sunsynk batteries, the inverters' warranty is extended to 10 years.

IMPORTANT NOTE:

When using the Sunsynk inverter in combination with the Sunsynk battery, the warranty on the inverter increases to 10years.

But I'm having trouble finding this on Sunsynk's website.

Is it worth it to go for Sunsynk batteries insead of, say, Hubble AM2?

I have heard of stores selling an "extended warranty" on Sunsynk inverters, but you do pay a premium for it. My take is that if the inverter breaks after say 6 years, they will cover the cost of the repair.

As for a condition of the extended warranty being a Sunsynk battery, it's a first that I have seen. 2 batteries are a fairly poor match for the 8k Sunsynk, because they only discharge at 50A each, so they will struggle to get over 4800W. The SUN-BATT-5.12's warranty also requires permanent Internet connectivity.

As per Ellie’s, a Sunsynk distributor, the inverter warranty does get extended to 10 years, but the battery and cables is close to 30k

I’ve just bought a sunsynk 8kw inverter and 3 x 5.12kw sunsynk batteries from Ellie’s because they are one of my suppliers. So once I’m all installed and I’ve issued my paperwork for warranty purposes I will let you know if they have extended my warranty to 10years.

Are these batteries not 1C, i.e. 100A max continuous discharge? That is what the specs seems to indicate.

I asked Sunsynk support in Jo’brg, there seem to be two batteries floating around South Africa, one is 0.5C and the other is a 1C, but having a hard time finding spec sheets, as per Steve st Power Forum store, as far as he knows it is a 1C that they are selling ???

spec sheet for the one on the power store

I think the sslb1 is the other sunsynk battery that is a 0.5c. Which is the one I posted earlier of the product manual

Good day

Can someone that knows for sure please confirm if the new Sunsynk battery that use the BYD cells is a 0.5C or 1C battery. It states max charge/discharge current is 100A, but nowhere on any spec sheet does it state whether this is a CONTINUOUS 100A, or only for few seconds/minutes.

See picture below (button/lights on front panel). It is also near impossible to find out what the model number of this battery is. Seems there are at least 3 different Sunsynk batteries currently being sold, and the specs are all blurred between them.

Thanks

From the website:Lithium Batteries | Sunsynk

Max. Continuous Discharging Current - 100A (1C, 25°C ± 2°C)
Max. Pulse Discharging Current - 200A (2C, 30S, 25°C ± 2°C SOC≥40%)

These specs above is for the CATL batteries. The new batteries will use BYD.  I've contacted Synsynk directly to get some more info. The following two bits might be useful:

 - "It is a 1C battery and it can discharge 100A max, however this is the max value and the recommended is 50A."

- "The new Sunsynk batteries 1C is using BYD cells and our previous battery uses CATL cells. The older batteries is not compatible with our new batteries."

I had 2 of the new BYD Sunsynk batteries installed this week with a 8kW Sunsynk inverter because of the 10 year warranty upgrade. They also look really great. They are definitely 1C. You can see this by checking the battery info on the inverter that is being reported by the batteries over the CAN link.

Hi Gambit

Where did you buy the BYD Sunsynk batteries?

I am trying to find out whether the new stock being sold by Powerforumstore is the BYD batteries or older CATL batteries, but unable to get confirmation.

It was supplied by my installer Macroclear Solar. They are a Sunsynk master installer.

What is the recommended settings for a single 5.12kw BYD Sunsynk battery in th 8kw inverter?

Specifically around the Charge and Discharge amps.

Would it be as per the spec sheet? Would you take Max or Nominal rates?

Apologies, first timer here, just wanna make sure i'm all covered from a settings perspective.

Use 100A for both.

Not wanting to register my details on the SunSynk site but how do they define "end of life" in terms that you can   make a claim on the warranty ?  Usually its a total kWh throughput of a SOH of greater than xx %  .

I think the CATL batteries are 5.12. BYD looks like 5.32kwh
