September 27, 20232 yr This battery module only lasted 6 months from new to failure!! To follow detailed teardown and reason's for premature failure. There have been previous posts regarding Nenergy quality. I will post pictures and findings soon.
September 28, 20232 yr Author Ok so here we go. The client had a crappy install to start off with and not fair as he initially paid 30k for the install and to add insult to injury the Nenergy 24v 100ah disconnected at 70%soc. The installer was long gone when i tried to get hold of him. The initial install Fivestar 3kva 24v inverter 24v Nenergy batter module and 3 x unknown panels. Will remove the 3 x 60 cell panels as they are dead( 30v 2 amp charging). Initial install: Removed the complete system and did a reinstall, where i purchased the battery module and inverter to offset the cost. New install. Teardown of Nenergy and boy it is bad. 1. Bms unkown make to me looks like 80 amp totally fried. 5 x Fets short curcuit. 2.The cells 2 badly swollen Eve Prismatic lfp 3.6v 275wh x 8 that equates to 88ah not 100ah as sold as 100ah. It gets worse minus 10% for load test to 2.8v 70ah give or take. 3. Ac curcuit breaker what the??? 4. Like i said replacing 2 cells badly swollen as they where overcharged by inverter and no balancing from bms. Will do rebuild ordered 2 new cells and 200 amp Jk bms will post rebuild to be fair the enclosure is half decent.

September 28, 20232 yr Date refrence China side 71.3 Ah as tested at the cell factory(re-hand facility as these are clearly not new cells), and yet they sell it as a 100Ah battery. do you have more pics of the bms? I would like to identify this bms.

September 28, 20232 yr thank you for the pics. will try to ID it. agree, that 200a JK is a beast of a unit, have the 100a units, and they never skip a beat. are you going to rebuild the battery with the same cells or are you going to replace all 8? at least the mechanical construction of the battery seems decent.

No complete rebuild will see if i can source 165ah lfp from my friends at Eloctromann Sa then the puzzle of retrofit might be necessary to modify the enclosure and decent links( buzz) will get them lasercut from 3mm thick copper. September 28, 20232 yr This post is a good example of why I rage against these unscrupulous sellers of batteries in SA. If they won't tell you what BMS and Cells are inside, run away as fast as you can !

Lithium Batteries SA has always been very open which cells and BMS they use in their batteries. Also, some overseas battery manufacturers is open with this as well. I don't know why most of our SA resellers are so shady ... Why are our suppliers not like this one ? 👇

September 28, 20232 yr Author So really you have just bought an enclosure. Yes i hate installers ripping people off not right this initial install 30k but how 9k for s** battery another 5k for inverter so switchgear and labour 16k?? I sleep better at night.
September 28, 20232 yr What really struck me here is that that battery is some way short of the 100ah they stipulate. I don't think we can take those figures as literal. I don't expect that my FW 10/8 delivers EXACTLY 200ah (or 10 kWh), but in this case Nenergy are not even in the same postal code.

Ok that is also a major problem. But these cells are so far apart from each other. They would benefit hugely from a good top balance & New BMS. Good on you @TaliaB. Salvage what you can & move on. The exact same reason I try to buy FreedomWon. The cells aren't so important as to a good BMS. The Orion is in another world. Also support I is of the utmost importance. I don't care of you spending R10 or R500k buy a product that you can get a techie to assist you without asking for a CoC or some other ridiculous crap.

At least I can sleep at night knowing it just keeps ticking along.
