A1. I used the 6pin RJ11/RS232 port, successfully.

A2. RIOT is supposed, however in my case it seems Hubble Support could not.

A3. I do not know, but I think it should work, but at R500 it is a bit steep for a RS232 cable.

Thanks for the feedback.
It is a bit expensive 😞 ....
But I already have the cable which I'm using with Solar-Assistant 🙂

Anyone use a "KG140F coulometer display & logger" to monitor & measure an AM-2 battery?

I've just installed a KG140F.
Wrote a python script to log the data to mqtt.
Looking forward to seeing the results soon.

AFAIK, the Victron Smart Shunt is similar (may need a Cerbo GX to log the data)

Not yet, seems interesting. How is yours coming along, worth it?

Still checking, waiting for a few sunny days. The Sunsynk inverter also has Battery A and V values which provide similar data. This is supposed to be more accurate. What's missing is the efficiency of the battery. eg 10kWh in * 95% = 9.5kWh out.

With all the rain not able to get full cycles done.

Is it worth it? Probably not for grid connected home use. On a boat or RV then probably a good idea.

@werner.potgieter I contacted the support in the beginning of the week to load the firmware, they have struggled to send the files to me. They finally got the files uploaded through We-transfer today received version 2.05, but now I still have not received the email with instructions and password for using the BMS Upgrade tool, and its Easter Weekend so will wait a while now.  Have you received an password or email of some sort you would mind sharing / pm with me  ?

I used the solar-assistant Bull/Hubble AM RS232 to do the update seems to work no issues

Just to check, is Solar Assistant better than getting the Riot Cloudlink?

My battery needs updating and getting the Riot just for that if SA can do it isnt worth it especially with SA's features.

I have both and SA is much better. SA supports mqtt+HA+Node Red.

AFAIK, you can use an SA USB-RS485 cable with a laptop to update firmware.

Hi Werner,

Has there been an improvement in the capacity of the Hubble?  Is it back to how it was previously?

I am using a sunsynk 5kw and 1 x hubble battery.

I would like to buy solar assistant. What is the best connections to buy? https://solar-assistant.io/shop/products/sunsynk_rs485 OR https://solar-assistant.io/shop/products/sunsynk_rs232

and is it recommended to buy this: https://solar-assistant.io/shop/products/hubble_am to see health ect of the battery? if i buy this is it possible to do my own firmware update on the hubble? I dont want to buy RIOT as well, or take it to them.

I use a
https://solar-assistant.io/shop/products/sunsynk_rs485 for connecting to the SunSynk and
https://solar-assistant.io/shop/products/hubble_am RS232 (RJ11) for connecting to the Hubble
RS232 DB9 port is occupied by SolarMan dongle.

From what I understand you can can upgrade the Hubble firmware using the RS232 (RJ11) https://solar-assistant.io/shop/products/hubble_am and a laptop.

I have taken this pic from the hubble website. It seems that 10% is 44V and 20% is just under 45v (if im reading this correctly? ) I also emailed hubble asking for recommendations.

Nice find.
https://www.hubblelithium.co.za/uploads/1/3/5/0/135079623/am-2_discharge_graph_and_dod.pdf

The values are at "100A / C1" (green line).
The "20A / C5" ~960W (red) may be a safer value.
I'll revise my settings.

So I set my shutdown to 45v to be safe.

Now with the solarman app, at 45.13v it says my battery is 0%SOC. I assume it's because of firmware issues with battery / inverter? I don't have solar assistant.

Screenshot_20220421_090712_com_igen.solarmanbusiness.thumb.jpg.21c8ddc310b58afa40f20d851e594662.jpg

I've had my firmware updated and the the battery now refuses to go below 52% SOC.  This was the original issue, then it suddenly dropped to 0% and was erratic.  I basically have about 40% capacity in the battery after 7 months.

@HubbleLithiumPlease can you comment, as your batteries are failing left right and centre.

Is your SunSynk 5k inverter set to AGM/V?

image.png.b2833affc3de16e726270baf74929c17.png

If the inverter is set to Lithium LiBMS, the value reported is from the Hubble BMS and not based on the Voltage.
