Tariq Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 Commissioned a Sunsynk 5kW inverter this evening, there is a high pitched noise emanating from the inverter, which also coming from tv, Xbox, a ups, etc, if the grid is switched off and the load is running on batteries, there is no noise Firmware version is 2138 Quote
branderplank Posted February 27, 2021 Posted February 27, 2021 Also had this when I initially commissioned mine. With the cover plate on it was less annoying. At some point I had switched off the inverter completely and disconnected the batteries. When I turned on everything again, the pitch was really bad. After a few days I decided to just switch it off with the power button underneath the inverter - did not switch off anything. When I switched it back on, the pitch was virtually gone (it is there but really really faint only audible when I get your ears in really close). Not a technical solution but just what I experienced. Vassen mentioned that it was worse with a certain firmware upgrade and then improved thereafter again... Quote
Bernardf Posted May 26, 2021 Posted May 26, 2021 (edited) I have also had the same problem with the high frequency noise on an 8kW unit. My previous unit at my previous residence was a 5kW unit that I used for about a year, which did not give this noise. When I got my new 8kW in May 2021 at my new residence, I had it installed in the scullery. The high frequency noise was barely audible to my installer because it is around 15,000Hz, but to me it is so loud that I could hear it from 10 metres away, and spending 10 minutes in the scullery doing dishes left me with my ears feeling physical discomfort for an hour or so afterwards. After I had run the system for 2 days, I asked the installer to take the unit back to be assessed by tech support, and he was informed by someone (I'm not sure who he spoke to, I think it might have been Shabir from Sunsynk support, not sure...) that they will not swop out the unit because that is just how the Sunsynks sound, and chances are good that if they give me another unit it will be even louder. I then had to pay my installer another installation fee to move the whole setup outside the house, which was another 2 days' work. I was quite disappointed in the supplier for not swopping out the unit. So to anyone considering a Sunsynk, put it in the garage or outside the house, as the high frequency noise seems to be the luck of the draw. (EDIT: I had the software upgraded, which did not make a difference) Edited May 26, 2021 by Bernardf Quote

If also from TV etc, from the device itself or from their speakers? Quote

phidz Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 I also noticed a high pitched sound from the microwave after I added batteries to my 5k inverter. It's not too loud but will hear it when I walk past it. Quote
wolfandy Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 Just switched my 2 new Sunsynks on - and also had a very loud high noise coming from one of them So loud, that I can even hear it from the next room... Will await the firmware upgrade tomorrow and then see if anything changes Quote
wolfandy Posted June 7, 2021 Posted June 7, 2021 Sent the noisy inverter back and received a replacement. Great service. Will mount the new inverter next weekend Quote
Tariq Posted June 7, 2021 Author Posted June 7, 2021 @wolfandy, I have a colleague with a noisy inverter, what process did you follow to get a replacement Quote

Tariq Posted June 7, 2021 Author Posted June 7, 2021 @wolfandyWow, that is great service. Does your inverter make the high frequency noise when grid is switched off Quote

Once the inverter had completed the start-up procedure and 'clicked', the noise immediately started. Left it running for 20 mins like this but no change Quote
Tariq Posted June 7, 2021 Author Posted June 7, 2021 This inverter only makes the high frequency noise ONLY when on grid, Quote

Tariq Posted June 8, 2021 Author Posted June 8, 2021 (edited) @wolfandy He is in contact with Shabbir at Sunsynk, wants them to fix the problem on HIS inverter, as there is no guarantee that the new inverter will not have the same noise issue and then the process starts all over again. Yes, he has the v1.4 with the fan Edited June 8, 2021 by Tariq Quote

Good luck to him My replacement v1.5 is sitting with my complex security, waiting for me to return back home and install it on Saturday. As my other v1.5 was fine, I am hoping so will this one be Quote
